  1. When he scores on the shootout he makes it look easy.
  2. Win or lose I hate shootouts. Would rather bring back ties.
  3. Not a great first game overall
  4. Also I can't stand the stars jerseys. They look like the Hawks St. Patricks day green jerseys.
  5. Hawks can try to not get dominated for awhile if they want to.
  6. Will be interesting to see if this blows up... http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2014/10/09/jerry-angelo-chicago-bears-national-football-league/16981865/
  7. The Falcons have a horrible, horrible defense. The Bears will score at least 30. They are terrified of the Bears offense. According to DVOA, Atlanta's defense is ranked 28th in the league. Carolina's is ranked 27th and we scored 24 so...I don't think we'll have a problem moving the ball but are we going to shoot ourselves in the foot repeatedly like we have the last 2 weeks? The Bears offense seems angry enough to start making plays and stop shooting themselves in the foot. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the game that the Bears offense finally puts it all together and scores more than 30. My worry is that Matt Ryan at home lights up the scoreboard and doesn't lose much in the dome. They've scored 37 (in OT) and 56 in 2 home games this year. Exactly, and while they did get lit up by the Saints, in their most recent home game they allowed something like 220 yards and 14 garbage time points to the Bucs. Obviously the Bears are significantly more talented than the Bucs on offense, but its clear this team plays better at home.
  8. I didn't catch the 2nd preseason game, but in the first preseason game he looked very active and aggressive...when he was on the floor. He's only played 28 minutes combined in the 2 preseason games...so a little odd that he is sitting out today.

  10. Starting to worry that Briggs isn't going to play Sunday
  11. I turned on sports radio and they are talking about who they want the Hawks to play in the first round lol
  12. Hawks killed the Kings last time they hung a banner and went on to win the Cup. Too bad its the gutless choking Sharks otherwise I'd sense a trend brewing.
  13. Slauson came back too soon?
  14. I think that's the whole reason voters tried to keep Santo out of the HOF for so long.
  15. You lost me here. It's either a winner-take-all game or a sweep basically. 4-1 is stretching it, but I consider a 5 game victory in a 7 game series pretty dominant. There's never been a Cubs playoff series where they represented themselves well, but lost in non-heartbreaking fashion. They've either been dominated or pissed it away. So basically the Cubs haven't lost a 5 game series 3-1 or a 7 game series 4-2 in the 6 playoff series they've lost since 1945?
  16. 6 safeties on the roster. Guessing Conte is out this week at least. Also wonder with the 2 LBs signed to the practice squad if that's not bad news for McClellin and/or Bostic. Adam Hoge was on The Game this afternoon and mentioned that early word is that Conte's concussion wasn't too severe. (the rest is him speculating, not anything the Bears have said) Don't be shocked if he's out there Sunday despite 2 concussions in 45 days.
  17. Started the other NHL thread, might as well start this one. I don't see a lot of excitement for the season to start other than people saying it in relation to the Bears disappointing season to date. It's probably because nothing matters except health before the playoffs. Last year proved it, as the Hawks was sluggish at times during the regular season, only finished 3rd in the division and then turned up the gas when the playoffs started. In the end, they were basically an unlucky bounce away from winning their second straight Cup and 3rd in 5 seasons. So fellow Hawks fans, what should we be excited about for the regular season? Maybe its the fact that barring a jump in the cap, this might be the final Hawks run for a guy like Sharp or Seabrook, meaning without a quick retooling we might take a step back after this season. Maybe hoping/looking forward to Teuvo forcing himself on the roster and becoming a key contributor to the team. Maybe its just about appreciating how you have at worst one of the 3 best teams in hockey and get to watch them play every other night.
  18. If you project Harden's 08 WAR to CC's IP (253), he would be higher (7.7 vs. 7.2) but the fact that CC was a workhorse, and Harden would often struggle to go 6 innings in a game (only 4/13 starts with over 6 IP with the Cubs vs. 14/18 starts with over 6 IP for CC with Brewers), it swings the balance in Sabathia's favor.
  19. Yeah I've seen TB a lot too. Am I missing something?
  20. that prompted me to check Football Outsider's rankings this week. Ugly... Bears 19th overall, 16th on offense, 14th on defense, 26th on special teams.
  21. Absolutely, but it would never happen. Why not? Too much of an alpha dog for Trestman? Does Trestman and Ryan have any sort of a prior connection? Assistant coaches usually are picked cause they have good working relationships with the head coach. Not always, but a lot of the time. At least the high profile ones with multiple teams after them.
  22. Season starts tonight with 4 games. Starting the discussion....Crazy how close we were to starting the 2nd NHL season with a Seattle team: http://deadspin.com/the-coyotes-were-damned-close-to-moving-to-seattle-1643791488
  23. Wrigley Field (opened 1914) - 27 playoff games Busch Stadium (opened 2006) - 33 playoff games (with at least 2 more guaranteed)
