  1. Got tickets to the only 5pm Sunday start of the season (January 18 vs. the Stars). Sounded like a great idea for bringing very young kids that go to bed around 8, but just realized that could conflict with a possible 2pm NFC championship game for the Bears. Wonder if that actually happened if they would move the Hawks game back an hour or so? I hope this is something I have to worry about. That happened in 2011 when Bears played GB at 2pm. Hawks were supposed to play Philadelphia at 2pm, so they moved the game to 1130am. I remember listening to that game on my phone as I was walking around Soldier Field to get to my seat. The Hawks got killed and the Bears lost. SOB Ha! I was at that game too. Sat in front of an obnoxious female Packer fan who sounded like she smoked 4 packs of cigarettes a day for 40 years. I turned around and she was about 25 years old. Terrible day. I bought a single ticket during the week of the game when I happened to stumble on extra tickets released, so i went by myself. I am not kidding you that if you drew a Brady Bunch style box around me, except expanded it to a second level, every single person in that box was a Packers fan except me in the middle with my Bears jersey. They were annoying but not too bad overall. Did give me a hard time about Jay not playing though.

  3. Alex Gordon topped FanGraphs’ WAR list for position players with 5.7 wins, 0.1 better than Mike Trout.
  4. So time to play some spoiler or bottom out for a high pick. The Cubs have 38 games left. 32 of the 38 games are against teams over .500 (the 6 other games are against the 61-64 Reds). 23 of the games are against teams currently in a playoff spot. The other 9 games are against teams within 3 games of a playoff spot. Should be interesting.
  5. Ugh why do you gotta remind me about that 2012 game? This was before anyone thought the Seahawks were good. I think they were undefeated at home to that point but something like 1-5 on the road, so everyone expected us to win, and we led the whole game until the last 3 drives where they just took it to the Bears and scored every time. After that game the Seahawks went on a rampage and really set the stage for their 2013 Super Bowl run.
  6. Based on the pace with his first 14 games, if Baez played a full 162 game season he'd have 58 HRs and 104 RBIs
  7. I hope people remember this every time they're mad at a player for holding out. What is an expensive injury? It's not like he was paying for his procedures? Yeah seriously. Even though the Bears would pay for it no matter what, he was still kept on the roster the entire year he was out and not cut until the next training camp.
  8. Just want to mention that after I posted this 2 of these guys went yard. What you got for me Contra?
  9. I was surprised that I don't see many people making rich man's Soriano comp for Baez. I leave the smart baseball stuff to the rest of you guys but the high power, high strikeout, low walk profile screams Soriano, no?
  10. This is the part of Baez's level up progression where he starts to show signs of adjustment right? Will be interesting to see how quickly he can step it up.
  11. "So Deng gets a freaking spinal tap and is in the hospital for 2 weeks, Kirk is banged up with one of his 20 various injuries, Nate Robinson is throwing up in buckets, and the reporter asks me if we can beat the freaking Heat. I didn't know what to say, I just looked at him dumbfounded and just said 'we have enough to win'."
  12. Looking at Cub hitters we care about with carefully selected sample sizes... Baez - .205/.239/.318/.557 last 11 games Alcantara - .176/.250/.239/.489 last 22 games Rizzo - .234/.315/.340/.655 last 24 games On plus side... Castro - .397/.414/.529/.943 last 17 games
  13. Looks like Rondon is promoted from low-A to AAA and the plan is to get him to the majors in September.
  14. So the Hawks are still over the cap....keep waiting for the move to come, but nothing but silence.
  15. Off topic but I flipped to the fox preseason game for a second an holy wow the new fox graphic is hideous. I don't know how to copy a picture link from twitter on my phone but here is a link to a photo
  16. It was one of my favorite sports memories ever. Most of the time I forget it's there but every so often I see it in my sig and watch it play on loop 5-6 times.
  17. The only other guy who likes michigan basketball here dislikes me so I'm guessing it will be a clean sweep. Guess I'll look for something new. Open to suggestions. Edit: whoops I missed that he already replied
  18. I didn't see what was on the end of page 150 and clicked on 151 to see the first 2 posts and thought that Cutler had suffered a freak injury or something.
  19. I slightly worry about offensive depth too but it would be far from the first thing is bring up about Bear concerns
  20. Cubs haven't scored more than 4 runs in a game in their last 10 (assuming they don't get 4 more today). During that stretch they've scored 4 runs once, 3 runs four times, 2 runs twice, 1 or less 3 times. Anyways kind of disturbing as we called up 2 top 30 prospects to join 2 all star hitters and a couple of other hitters that are having surprisingly decent years (Coughlan and Valbuena)
  21. Rizzo doesn't look good up there. Terrible AB. What's happened to him lately?
  22. It was enacted originally to protect kids like you ;)
  23. I gotta stop turning on the TV to see Baez ABs. Everytime I do he strikes out.
