  1. He's the absolute worst. Never have I despised one of my team's announcers more than I do with King. He's a hype man. He's harmless fun for me. Yeah wtf. I always thought King was one of those guys who you love if he's calling for your team, and hate if he's another team's announcer. I don't understand why people hate excitement and homerism from your basketball announcer. And the homerism isn't event Hawk like biased homerism, its just him getting overly excited about the Bulls doing well.
  2. Of course, it was fun mostly because Thibs had the starters in and Atlanta was using D-leaguers for the whole 4th quarter. There was no reason for starters to be there aside from Thibs being psycho and having priorities out of whack. Oh absolutely. It was insanity from Thibs, but the crowd and team were into it enough, I was able to just soak it in and enjoy it fully. True story, there's an ESPN Chicago article that asserted the entire takeaway from last night was Thibs doesn't trust Rose in crunch time since he wasn't out there with the rest of the starters. Pure bonkers. Also, Stacey King is as crazy as Thibs. That is crazy, however i would like to see Rose get more minutes in the last 3 preseason games including 4th quarter minutes.
  3. Nothing besides those from him, though. I'm assuming there will be a column this afternoon? Wonder if he apologizes and goes about his business normally or just doesn't say anything and mails it in until his contract is up next year? I'm guessing the latter. I think he will end his twitter silence after his first column goes up, but will only post links to his columns, podcasts, other grantland articles with no commentary. He will scale back heavily on columns and podcasts with his Grantland Basketball Show being the excuse and then leave when his contract is up. He will never address the suspension publicly. When he's been suspended from twitter on the past, I believe he's come back heavily sterilized (just posting links to his content) for a period of time before slowly regaining a twitter personality.
  4. Crazy that so far we've seen 3 sweeps and 3 series where the losing team wins once. Individual games have been packed with drama, the series as a whole have not.
  5. Joe buck steals "and the giants win the pennant" call. [expletive] the cardinals your reign of terror is over.
  6. Jimmy g buckets wants that dough
  7. Patriots are like 100-0 when they lose a game. Should I be rooting for NE
  8. This is some terrible voice acting:
  9. the irony is so far they're really mainly leveling one of the newest parts of the park I know. I feel like I could be looking at pictures from 2006. How is the infrastructure from the main stands being "modernized" from this rennovation? I doing remember seeing anything about them tearing up the grandstands and fixing structural issues, but I could be mistaken.
  10. I vaguely remember Sosa hitting a towering fly ball to about straight away CF either to end the game or in the 9th inning of one of the games they lost. It either would have tied it or won the game (can't remember if men were on base). I think it was off Schmoltz as well. Can anyone confirm that this happened or am I dreaming this up? For some reason Baez hitting that towering fly off Chapman this year reminded me of this Sosa moment this year that I had long since forgotten. Yeah, game 4, he represented the tying run. It's a real damn shame there is no way to re-watch old playoff series other than the last few years. How does the MLB benefit from hording that stuff?
  11. Yay Giants! *heads to best fans in baseball twitter page*
  12. Completely destroy Calgary and lose. At least we got a point. These types of games will happen over the course of a season.
  13. Damn that was pretty close. Glad they counted it
  14. 7 penalties for Calgary vs 1 for Chicago lol
  15. There we go. Get enough power plays and eventually we will score
  16. Carcillo really blew a point blank shot attempt early in the first. At the time I figured whatever but now we could really use that goal.
  17. SOG 30-6 Chi Score 1-0 Cal
  18. Totally. They've dominated and gotten 4 power plays but haven't been able to light the lamp. Ugh
  19. On paper, they're barely better than the Cubs. That's not even hyperbole
  20. Apparently good news comes in threes. Not sure if Shea McClellin coming back is exactly good news. He's at best on the level of any of the guys that were playing Sunday at LB. He wasn't horrible to start the season....at least I don't think so. At worst, it gives us more depth at a position we really need it, as I don't think Briggs and Williams are going to play. Who knows about Bostic.
  21. Game 1 frustrates me almost as much as games 6 and 7. Cubs had a 4-0 lead and then Zambrano, who gave up 9 HR in 214 innings that year, gives up 3 HRs in a span of 4 batters. Sucks that he he didn't have it going that game, but was excellent in Game 5 when Josh Beckett made it moot with a CG SO domination.
  22. little things I remember about that series: Game 1: Pretty much just Wood looking dominant and then getting that huge hit to take the lead Game 2: Cubs scoring 2 in the first off a Sosa double, then giving up the lead. Remember Tom Goodwin scoring on a sac fly to tie the game in the 8th inning only to have the Cubs give the lead back up in the bottom of the inning Game 3: Delayed start by rain, Cubs scoring 2 in the first, Prior being absolutely dominant before giving up a run in the later innings, Randall Simon doubling to give the cubs an insurance run in the 8th Game 4: All I remember is Karros and Chipper Jones both hitting 2 HRs and the Braves winning Game 5: Wood again, Alou i think had an early RBI single to take some pressure off, Aramis and (i think) AGonz both hit home runs to add to the lead. I remember a weird "trapping play" on a ball hit by the Braves that allowed a run to score to make it 4-1 or 5-1, and then I remember Borowski's K to send it.
  23. Mine is still the Aramis Grand Slam. It was the moment I really believed we were going to the World Series. I have been trying for years to find a clip of it, but I'm dumbfounded that I can't find one in this day and age when entire games (3, 6 and 7) of that series are on youtube. The only thing I can find is a still picture: http://reds.enquirer.com/2003/10/12/nlcs_zoom.jpg
  24. Ok sorry Gary Gaetti's HR exponentially adds to Cubs postseason lore
  25. Sorry, I thought it was clear that when I said memorable I meant memorable in favor of the Cubs. That Royals Wild Card game was bonkers and full of memories. The Cubs have what? -Woods double in G1 vs. Braves 2003 -Aramis Grand Slam G4 vs. Marlins 2003 -Cubs homerfest G2 vs. Marlins 2003 -Randall Simon HR G3 vs. Marlins 2003 -Huge 1st inning in G2 vs. Giants in 1989 -Sutcliffe HR in G1 vs. Padres in 1984 Nothing from 1998, 2007, 2008 You might include Wood's HR in G7 2003 or Sosa's HR in G1 2003 but those were both in losses so [expletive] them. Nothing from 1998? Does the play-in game not register for you? Not a playoff game
