    Nobody can say, cuz it's a pretty uncommon circumstance. Ultimately, Maddon had every right to opt out without Tampa receiving any compensation. So my best guess is that it'd be a fine. It's pretty unlikely that tampering is proven, imo. Well yeah but it would be a bit more punitive if they can prove Maddon opted out because he knew the Cubs were offering him their job. When Maddon opted out, the Twins were the only team with an open managerial spot, so it immediately seems fishy that Maddon would opt out of his job when there was only 1 team that was definitely looking for a manager. Especially because like a week before he stated how he was dedicated to staying with Tampa Bay long term and abruptly changed course. I don't think the Cubs tampered at all (based on Theo's extremely confident remarks and the promise of full cooperation), I'm just saying why the Rays might get more compensation than a fine if the Cubs were caught tampering. Also, considering their willingness to give the MLB investigators full cooperation, if they maintained their innocence to the investigators and were later found to have tampered, the MLB could suspend Theo and Jed and/or take away draft picks/draft and IFA pool money.

    Am I imagining this or have the Bears gone away from the status quo of winning the toss and deferring to the second half? I feel like one of the past couple games they won the toss and elected to receive, assuming they knew they would give up a TD. I know for a fact they won the toss on Sunday and elected to receive. They received first against New England but I'm not sure who won the toss. But yeah I think its a strategy shift because of their desire to get an early lead before the defense starts sucking.

    New trade proposal, please help me decide. Very deep league, 12 teams and start 3 RB and 4 WRs. I started 1-5 but have won 4 in a row and am primed for a playoff spot. My WRs: AJ Green Martavius Bryant Rueben Randle Mike Wallace Larry Fitzgerald (Denard Robinson is a WR and RB) My RBs: Arian Foster Branden Oliver Denard Robinson Darren McFadden D'Angelo Williams (was only on roster to fill Foster and Olivers byes) The proposed trade is Bryant for Terrance West Should be a no brainer right? Oliver sucked and Ryan Matthews is back. I need a 3rd RB. Can I trust that West is going to be getting most of the reps for the Browns moving forward? Because otherwise, I was considering making Bryant a keeper if he keeps up his production.

    stupid garbage time touchdowns. I had a 25 point lead on my opponent entering the 4th quarter of MNF in a critical matchup. He had Newton and Benjamin. The only thing that would beat me was likely 2 Newton to Benjamin TDs. Yup that's exactly what happened. Lost by 2.

    when are you going to take away Cutler's ability to check out of runs? why would you want to take away Cutler's ability to check out of runs? Haha, UMFan is complaining about check outs that led to first down completions. everybody seems to be griping about not running the ball against the 32nd ranked run D, and earlier this year in another game. In both cases Trestman defends himself by clearly stating that Cutler checked out of multiple runs so...that seems to be a part of why they aren't running the ball enough, no?

    Isn't passer rating kind of stupid? It's artificially high because his completion percentage is up due to a heavy increase in dump offs and short passes (conversely his yards per attempt is the 3rd lowest of his career), and several garbage time touchdown passes thrown. He hasn't been all terrible, I'm not putting the blame solely on him for the Bears performance obviously (although you can assign more blame to him for the losses against Buffalo and Carolina) but I don't see anything that suggests his performance is any better than his entire career to this point.

    Apparently PFF graded the Bears defense overall at +0.4 yesterday. There goes any respect I have left for their rating system. Shea McClellen had a +2.8

    I was just looking at the 2015 schedule to see if we might catch a break and have a fluke year to contend, and realized that we have to play the NFC and AFC Wests, possibly the 2 best divisions in football. Granted, looking at next years schedule during week 10 of the previous season, its impossible to determine just how easy or hard the schedule will be but way in advance it looks like it will be very difficult, with the exception of playing the last place teams in the south (TB) and east (Washington)

    definitely this seeing as a large majority of our core is over 30, and the team is certain to be broken up over the next couple of offseasons. In 2007 we had injuries that made our defense suck and our offense was pretty below average, but we still had a very good defense with its skill players in their primes, and were playing in a league where having an above average D and a halfway decent offense with a good running game was still good enough to be a contender. This was a veteran team put together to win this year or next year or be broken apart and stripped down. That's not to say we don't have young talent on this team, because we do, but its not like 2007 (at least I dont think so at this point) where we had Urlacher, Briggs, Tillman, Tommie Harris, Mike Brown, Alex Brown, Idonije, Ogunleye as a core. Obviously some didn't work out, some got old quicker, but I'm trying to look at it from how I felt in 2007.
