  1. Yuck
  2. I don't care about him making amends, we're not going to invite him back to Wrigley Field simply because we are afraid of scaring the children attending.
  3. why do you want Rizzo to be a free agent?
  4. Apparently the Braves are meeting with Lester on Thursday.
  5. I hear ya. This included the infamous stretch between 1999-2003 where all Chicago teams that I care about sucked Cubs - 0 playoff appearances, 3 last place finishes and 1 late season collapse Bears - 1 playoff appearance which was a disappointing loss, 3 last place finishes with 10 losses Blackhawks - 1 playoff appearance that led to being trounced by rivals, 4 sub .500 records Bulls - 0 playoff appearances, 4 last place finishes, 4 seasons either losing 60 or on a 60 loss pace (lockout season) So 2/18 teams made the playoffs (Cubs and Bears 4 seasons, Bulls and Hawks 5 seasons), both were fluke seasons that ended abruptly when the playoffs started and 10 last place finishes This was my sports fandom from age 16-20
  6. There was nothing more exciting then seeing Carlos Marmol pitch in 2007. He came in during numerous close games and was pretty much as lights out as you could get.

    NFL week 11

I don't agree with it but its hard to defend what he did to his kid. I guess you could try to compare 2 games for hitting wife vs. 15 for abusing child, but again I don't want to be defending child abuse as a less severe offense.
  8. just no. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-fascinating-jason-heywardshelby-miller-swap/ He's a platoon player that is really good in the outfield but has never lived up to his potential. Outside of his defense, there's really nothing impressive about him. Of course, he'll hit 35 homers this year because Cardinals. Are you just ignoring what is being posted when you reply? Truffle's post clearly outlined why you are completely wrong. The Cubs are going to have won the WS by October 19th next year? And only 15 posts in the celebratory thread by noon of (presumably - at least) the next day? It was just easier to use Oct 19. And yeah most of the action is in the game thread. I just made a pointless celebratory post that wasn't needed. In reality, I saw something on reddit about how to edit web pages using Java script and took a screen grab from the site and the top post only had one page so I couldn't edit it in.

  10. Given the number of prospects that don't reach their potential, Heyward is definitely the better bet.
  11. Who cares? Players who dream of playing in the NCAA tournament Coaches who have incentives based on tourney appearances
  12. So the NCAA tournament is going back to calling the round of 64 and round of 32 the first and second rounds respectively beginning in 2016. So does this mean the "play in" teams are actually in the NCAA Tournament or not? And does it even matter?
  13. The way things are going, I think 8-7 will have you eliminated before week 17.
  14. LOL that is crazy to think about. If they beat Ole Miss and Missouri, I could see them sneak in the 22-25 range. Has there ever been a 5 loss team in the top 25 ranking ever? Yeah I think its happened for like an 8-5 team in the post-bowl rankings. Edit: Michigan finished 8-5 in 2012 and was ranked 24th in the final poll. South Carolina finished 9-5 in 2010 and finished 22nd
  15. Not sure about Jenkins but Walden made the AS Team for the Angels in 2011 and has been a solid if unspectacular middle reliever for awhile.
  16. I'm going to ignore how much this sucks and just pretend the Cardinals felt they needed to make this trade because of the upcoming Cubs juggernaut
  17. Whelp, they can have him at that price. Tired of this refrain. Kyle is going to have a field day with this
  18. Just win this week (and next week but that's probably too much to ask for) and make a bowl. I don't think it would save Hoke's job even if we won out and finished 8-5, so no harm in rooting for them to at least play in December/January.
  19. I found the Yahoo Playoff Scenario Generator....I don't think it's meant to work until after next week because Week 12 isn't on there, but I made a scenario where the Bears are the #1 seed and the Lions and Packers both miss the playoffs :) https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/playoffscenario?algorithm=custom&10=1015410&11=D4000400&12=14000001&13=44400040&14=15004104&15=11001401&16=50044410
  20. I know this isn't exactly a hot take, but I find it a little funny that we traded Maholm for La Stella and the right to rehab Vizcaino for 2.5 years.
  21. Who buys a $200+ ticket and then doesn't show? I know a couple of STH's that have had tickets for a long time and don't go to at least 1-2 games each year. I am not sure why. At the very least, sell them on Stubhub or give them away at face value at lower. I know STH's that have 4 tickets and they've given them to me at face value ($70). Plenty of people still want to go to Bears games regardless of the record because tickets are so hard to get. But I guess if you're rich. Lowest face value ticket this year is $81. I have four, I had to sell two last minute because my fair weather friend said he had to cancel because it's too cold and the Bears suck. At least he could have lied and said his kid was sick. I sold them on stub hub Saturday for $73. And the people who bought them ended up being pretty cool people. Never invite him to a game again. That's a terrible friend and a terrible excuse.
  22. Ahhh the Lovie Smith bowl. Bears open as 6 point favorites. Let's get a win and move to 5-6 to at least make the Thanksgiving game against the Lions somewhat interesting. Also with 2 Thursday games and a Monday game upcoming, this is the last Sunday game until Week 16
  23. Guess it makes me feel a little better seeing the Pats put up 45 and 42 points in their first 2 games after playing the Bears and the Packers put up 53. All 3 games were against good teams with at least average defenses (Denver, Indy, Philly)
