  1. Not news but its always funny to see what Boras says at the winter meetings. Also... Not sure what that means..
  2. Dunno who this guy is, but sign all the players, Theo Local sports radio guy. I don't know what station he's with now. and @injuryexpert is will carroll who i am not sure but i think we hated 10 years ago yeah because that idiot tried to tell us that mark prior was permanently broken
  3. haha i beat you again in the WM thread well thats on you for not putting it in the most relevant thread
  4. I almost feel bad for Wisconsin. You'd think they've built a pretty respectable football program overall, but in the past few years their head coaches have bolted to Arkansas and Oregon State. What does that say about Wisconsin/the Big 10?
  5. Are you starting to give in to theo's almighty tank and win plan yet?
  6. Jesus if our lineup next year was.... Alcantara Castro Rizzo Upton Bryant Soler Baez Montero Lester Although I'm guessing Alcantara, Castro, or Baez would be gone in a Jupton trade
  7. The older they are, the more wisdom they can impart on the youngsters. Has Ricky officially retired yet?
  8. Hawks 7 game win streak as propelled them from around 8th in the conference to 2nd, 2 points behind the Ducks. Considering the Hawks are almost certainly treating the regular season like preparation for the playoffs, it's pretty impressive to be right up there.
  9. Who is bumping old threads from 2006?
  10. Is the Projected WAR in this article the same thing that Kyle has been talking about with the Rockies randomly looking like a contender.
  11. Recent high profile targets: FA: Furcal: No Bradley: Yes Pujols: No Fielder: No Sanchez: No (though talk didn't really heat up until the report that we'd signed him) Trade: Roberts: No Harden: Yes Peavy: No Granderson: No Garza: Yes And of course, Epstein: Yes The one that came to mind for me was Juan Pierre, though that was a little older. What about Pudge? Carlos Lee? Had quite a lot of discussion about Beltran after the 04 season, pretty much demanding that Hendry went after him and being pissed that it looked like he made him a token offer to appease the fan base. It's a damn shame that part of the NSBB database was lost forever. I want to go back and read the 2003 playoff game threads.
  12. Fukudome was discussed for quite awhile before we signed him too.
  13. Of course Bowden just mentions that Russell and Edwards could be enough to get Kemp. Screw that. I'm sure Russell and Edwards is enough to get Kemp.
  14. HAH I finally scooped you!
  15. wtf
  16. All Dempster jokes aside he probably was...maybe not about the team as much as living and playing in Chicago. Dempster loved being in Chicago and living in Wrigleyville...the dude used to walk or ride his bike to the games. I've passed by him multiple times pushing a stroller with his kid down Addison hours after a game and no one was bugging him at all. Pretty cool and unique environment for a baseball player.
  17. Love Jake Arrieta even more after following him on Twitter...cool dude. Montero seems to have a good twitter presence too.
  18. Lester is 0-36 lifetime as a hitter with 1 walk. We've made a terrible mistake! Also according to Sherman he did not attempt one pickoff throw to 1B last year. Only 21 SB attempts again him though
  19. Hmmm... Jayson Stark @jaysonst Lester's signing bonus is $30 million, paid over the life of the contract, according to a source familiar with the terms. Jayson Stark @jaysonst Other incentives negotiated by Lester & his agents, the Levinsons: Full no-trade and $25M vesting option for 2021 or $10M buyout. (More)... Jayson Stark @jaysonst Sources say Lester's option vests if he pitches 200+ innings in 2020 or 400+ combined in 2019 & 2020. More to come at espn.com
  20. Cubs WS Odds went from 40-1 to 12-1 after signing Lester lol
