Definitely not. The White Sox spend a great deal of their resources trying to get fans to come to the games. That's not meant to be an insult either. We don't exactly sell out when the Cubs or bad. Some would argue nor should we. Welcome to the forum, glad to see some new faces in here. What do your sources say about Lesters decision btw?

The Sox had a period of 4-5 years where it was common knowledge that the Cubs were going to suck and be irrelevant and had 2 of their worst seasons in recent memory the last 2 years. In fact they finished with a worse record than the Cubs in 2013 and the same record in 2014. You'd think if that was the case the Sox would have seen the opportunity to gain ground in Chicago and do whatever it took to win. I dunno I'm not saying they completely ignore what the Cubs are doing but I don't think it's a driving factor in their major decisions.

Jesus Shark really does not like the Cubs. He was asked on B+B his thoughts on the Cubs finally turning the corner and his response was "I did everything I was asked to do as a Cub, and I'm proud that I was a professional during my time there". He grit his teeth enough for Dan to say he can tell there was something bittersweet in his answer. -
At this point with all the shoddy reporting, intense speculation and drama, I almost expect Lester to announce that he is giving us his decision on an ESPN special tomorrow evening.

Jesse Rodgers on ESPN 1000 seems pretty positive that the Cubs have the highest offer or at least at the same level as Boston. He thinks its Money/Curse Breaking (Chicago) vs. Heartstrings (Boston). He also thinks the Cubs changed course over the last couple of days in acquiring Hammel and Montero to show Lester they are prepared to compete next year.
