  1. The Cardinals have now played a playoff series against every Central team except Cincinnati. They've even played Houston who used to be in the division.
  2. We are literally 2 minutes from a Cubs Cardinals playoff game. Please get off to a good start Cubs!
  3. Well he's the MVP if you don't use things like statistics to determine value.
  4. I don't understand -- not that that's a rare occurrence. Does that mean the Cubs/Cards game got blocked for you? I didn't see the pregame but I'm assuming he meant the pregame show had a lot of Mets-Dodgers coverage instead of the game that is starting right now.
  5. [tweet] [/tweet] Jeez sounds like Joe almost started TLS over Starlin
  6. Colby Rasmus: playoff hero How did that happen?
  7. My first post was like an hour before Game 2 of the 03 NLDS. Man I wish we still had those threads to read, they were a lot shorter but definitely some good discussion going on. And 16 year old CT acting like a 16 year old.
  8. I'm just happy the NL is on TBS and there is no chance of Strop-killer Costas calling any Cubs-Cardinal games
  9. Can you propose a deal with one of the other 3 where you take 2 WS tickets and if it happens take that person, they take an NLDS game and commit to bringing you? This is assuming that by picking a game you get both tickets and that the other 3 don't sell theirs which by the looks of your post they are going to do. If that option is not there, yes take a World Series game. You'll be kicking yourself if they make the World Series and you had a chance to go but didn't.
  10. I feel so much more relaxed than before the Pirates game. Yep, no matter what there's more after today, so not nearly the nerves of the WC game. Today is really big though, if the Cubs win they're in tremendous shape to win the series in 3 or 4. Definitely. I just feel THAT much more confident; it really feels like they knocked out the tougher team to face in this series in the WC game. Plus I just "need" them to win one of these games; come back to Chicago for game 3 with Arrieta and unleash the backbreaker. Also while I'm no where near satisfied, its a good feeling to have "accomplished" something already. It takes a little of the nerves off for the players I'm sure as well.
  11. ... They won the Division. Not in 2001. http://m.bbref.com/m?p=XXleaguesXXNLXX2001.shtml As much as I hate the Cardinals, I don't mind them claiming that as a title.
  12. Strike out instead of grounding into a double play with a runner on first?
  13. I do not agree with this sentiment. There are pros and cons. Ross is obviously far inferior to Miggy with the bat, but he's a better thrower to bases, which could help with Lester pitching. I wish we were facing a lefty so Ross would at least stand some chance of being useful at the plate, but it's fine. I'm sure Joe will immediately PH Montero if/when Lester comes out. That's also one of the many values of having Schwarber. You don't have to be afraid of subbing in Montero and risking being out of catchers.
  14. Good to know games for other teams get called way too fast, too. Hah, just a feeling I've had since watching game 1. Certainly not guaranteeing a Rangers victory, I just believe it will happen.
  15. Yeah seriously. Our mods are great and they take care of problems swiftly. It shouldn't offend you to see some troll comments on occasion considering the way we normally talk to each other. If we can get a couple of solid posters out of this playoff run, it will be worth idiot trolls posting. And as pointed out some of the trolling is so bad its freaking hilarious.
  16. Jays are toast. They totally have the look of one of those teams that have a high octane offense that goes completely cold in October as the pressure mounts. Once they lost the Price game, the pressure to win this one is going to be too much for them and they might win one in Texas but they won't make it back to Toronto.
  17. I stopped reading here. The Cardinals haven't scored a run since clinching the division. They aren't coming out of the gate like that. Yes well Lester has given up 50% of the Cubs starters runs allowed in their last 9 games, and 100% of those runs were scored in the 1st inning, so there.
  18. If I may, there are plenty of bandwagon Cardinal fans. They're the ones who you see taking selfies during the games and are in the party rooms at the stadium eating and drinking and paying 0 attention to the game. Of course the club loves them because, let's face it, they don't make near as much $$ w/o them. I don't consider a fan a die hard because he happens to have enough money to go to the park often so he can be seen. I like fans who still watch the games on TV when they're down 8-4 in the 9th. Are you saying you like fans who cheer for their team the right way? Requirements of a True Fan © 1. Must continue watching games when their team is down 8-4 in the 9th, even if the house is on fire or your wife has tickets to a show 2. Must applaud loudly when a player hustles from first to third on a single, regardless of team 3. Knows that the best curtain calls occur in the 3rd inning 4. fvekck uber, iye caan drivee just ffine
  19. My prediction: -Lester gives up 2 in the first, everyone freaks out -Cubs go quietly the first time around the order, then Fowler gets on to lead off the 4th, with 2 outs Rizzo breaks out of his slump with a long dong to tie up -In the 7th, still tied at 2, Russell doubles home Starlin to make it 3-2 Cubs -Lester goes 8, in the 9th Rondon strikes out the side for the W Cubs win 3-2 If my prediction occurs word for word, someone must buy me a ticket to Game 3.
  20. Same here. I was going to go to Ann Arbor; moved that to St. Louis and I'm pumped about it. Hopefully for your sake you made the right choice, because that means the Cubs and Michigan win :)
