When was the last time the Cubs played the Cards in the playoffs? For real? How about never That's kind of remarkable Not really. The Cubs have only made the playoffs 6 times and played in 7 playoff series in the 46 years since NL teams played each other in the playoffs And for 25 years they were in the same division and couldn't play each other in the playoffs. For an additional 16 years they could not face each other until the NLCS.

I wouldn't be surprised if Joe has him come back out in the 9th. That said Joe talks about high stress pitches and jake has had to make more than usual tonight so maybe he's done. Also he's due up 4th this half inning. That would make the decision easy

I love that casual baseball fans probably flip to this game see 4-0 in the 8th and think "Cubs won, what else is on" and I'm sitting here living and dying on every pitch

OK I'm officially calling any at bat that goes from 0-2 to walk a Kris Bryant. I don't care that he struck out there it was almost his second Kris Bryant of the game

For sure. Strop can pitch to his hearts content in the playoffs but I don't want him in any elimination games because bad Strop comes without warning and is completely devastating

Jake Arrieta is so good that he can be pitching a 3 hit shutout through 7 innings in a do or die game against a 98 win team on the road and feel like he isn't at his best today

I don't even think he's at 90 pitches and his batting spot isn't due up. I might think about it if it was a 1 run game but a 4 run game he absolutely comes out to pitch
