  1. Ok no more Saturday night Fox starts for Lester
  2. Hope this is like the last time Lester gave up a lead off home run when he pitched a CG and only gave up that run

  4. Crazy. feels like yesterday he was taking BP at Wrigley after being drafted
  5. If the Cubs went on a 16 game losing streak, they'd still be on pace for 90 wins, a win total they've achieved 2 times in the last 27 years (not counting 98 when it took them 163 games)

  7. Looked it up. Cubs have outscored the Pirates 44-15 in 7 games this year
  8. 6-1 against the Pirates and I can't even remember the RD. I'd hate to see what the best team in baseball would do to this Pittsburgh team.
  9. Would have had to use 2 PH if Contreras got on? That's my best guess. Already used Coghlan, Bryant is hung over, Ross might still be banged up leaving only Heyward left on the bench. Although with a 6 run lead I'm not sure why that matters. I tried...
  10. The first time I saw it (in real time) I was perplexed. The replay to me showed he was turning the corner and running to third, saw Harrison and tried to change his route and slow up but instead collided.
  11. That Rizzo walk ensures the catchers spot will come up in the 8th. Great time to get Contreras an AB/inning behind the plate in (hopefully) a blowout.
  12. Oh this is not going to go over well at all. What the heck?
  13. That's just...spectacularly dumb. I was thinking their strategy was "no way Javy will allow himself to walk twice in a game, watch him strike out on an intentional walk" Amazingly it backfired.
  14. I was in a meeting, but 11K's and 2 hits is Bad Jake? And 3 walks, but, yeah, a WHIP approaching 1 and over 110 pitches in 6 innings is Bad Jake these days. He's set himself up a hell of a standard. Just incredible. 99% of pitchers on the planet would kill to be Bad Jake. The only thing walks do for teams is drive up his PC (which is important), but when opponents are batting like .150 against him and most of those hits are weak grounders through a hole, you are screwed no matter what situation you are in.
  15. I know this is still the 'initial success before adjustments' period but man did Almora quickly turn my opinion of him around.
  16. It just boggles my mind how good Arrieta is at preventing hard contact. Especially with RISP. If his control was more like last year, he would basically would be throwing CG shutouts in 75% of his starts.
  17. This is not a great game for hitting with RISP for either team
  18. What in the world was that inning? hahahahahahaha
  19. Pirates guys are saying Maddon wanted Richard warming up and he's pissed that Cahill got up instead
