  1. weird...i am never this confident or doubtful in the moment...especially for extra inning games. just nervous as [expletive]. I think its more the mindset changes. When they were winning, they'd get 2 on and 0 outs and you're thinking 'ok how many runs can they score this inning..2? 3?. Now it seems like you are thinking 'which one of these [expletive] is going to strike out and which is going to hit into the DP?'
  2. Makes me feel slightly better.... 1) Cubs are have a RD that is 51 runs better than the next best team. 2) The "no such thing as luck" Cubs are still 59-26 which would be on pace for 112-50
  3. The Cubs had 14 base runners in the game. 8 of them reached with 0 outs and 0 runs were scored. Of the remaining 6 runners, 5 of them reached with 2 outs in the 8th and 3 scored. Baseball is a funny game.
  4. Would yelling make things worse after going 4-11 in our last 15? 16-18 in their last 34. Even worse. This isn't a 15 game thing. That 16-18 is broken down into a 11-5 stretch followed by a 5-13 stretch Don't make the bad run longer than it needs to be. Before this 5-13 stretch we were still playing at 114 win pace for the season. Now we are on pace for 99 wins
  5. I'm not watching anymore but it seems like anything remotely close to the strike zone is being called a strike. Is this true?
  6. Got excited until I saw that Patton, Szczur and Rizzo due up. Looks like Rizzo HR or bust for the Cubs
  7. Win or lose we probably get to Pittsburgh around 5am and are dragging tomorrow night.
  8. I'm just so dumbfounded how a team as good as the Cubs can all the sudden be bad at almost all facets of the game for 3 weeks and combine it with the worst luck imaginable: terrible sequencing luck, terrible luck at stranding runners and terrible luck with injuries. It's like a perfect storm was needed to bring the Cubs down a peg.
  9. Please just walk off. The last thing a team that has lost 12 of their last 17 games needs is a demoralizing loss.
  10. Rondon. Strop. While they are both very good relievers right now I don't trust them when they are in the game. That could change a week from now.
  11. Is there anyone in the pen you trust right now? Travis Wood?
  12. Rondon has blown 4 of his past 6 save attempts.
  13. Well that was the big hit we needed so badly
  14. Ben Zobrists AB is how you know the Cubs are pressing. You never see him take 2 terrible hacks early in the count like that.
  15. Did someone ask "could this get any worse?"
  16. Wait this guy pitched in horsefeathering Korea last year? Jesus
  17. Hey lead off man didn't get on. Now we can score some runs
  18. 4. Good karma for letting bad teams feel better about themselves.
  19. Yeah if there is any team itching to kick us when we are down its the Pirates. Though it would be funny with them being red hot lately and the Cubs playing like the worst team in baseball, we come in there and sweep them And you are right a lot of this is the team pressing badly. It seems like every game the opponent scores early and we are immediately on our heels. We just need something to go right for us anything to take a little pressure off of them and let them play some carefree baseball again
  20. Did anyone think the Cubs would have a stretch where they lost 6 of 7 games this year, much less twice in a 2.5 week span?
  21. Maybe the Cubs are taking Screw the Closer too far? Rondon has pitched once in the past 9 days. No save attempts, no leads to protect.
  22. 6th is not low enough for Heyward. How about 10th
