  1. Another shitty thing about this is the fact that Strasburg will probably conserve 10-12 pitches because of those 2 outs on the basepaths
  2. Lost in that stupidity was that was a nice drive by Almora
  3. What the horsefeathers are we doing out there today? Jesus
  4. It wasn't a great pitch by Hammel but someone who could get out of their crouch quicker would have gotten that relatively easily imo
  5. It's his back, he's trying to play through it and is slowing down every reaction behind the plate leading to passed balls, wild pitches, inability to throw out base stealers, etc.
  6. What the horsefeathers Miggy, jesus horsefeathering christ, if your back is hurting horsefeathering go on the DL stop killing us behind the plate. You can't just piss away runs with Strasburg pitching
  7. Pretty sure I remember Rick Wilkins throw out a baserunner once in the early 90's
  8. It's definitely not a retrospect thing OK maybe not, but its one of those things where I could see people saying 'way to be aggressive to try and get to Strasburg before he settles in' if it works.
  9. This is probably a retrospect thing, but I'm not sure why you run with Rizzo up and the first 3 batters getting good contact off Strasburg
  10. Some ASG Starting notes: Cubs have had 4 starters once (1936), 3 starters an additional time (1937), and 2 starters 15 times (most recently 2008) Last Cubs starter by position: C - Soto (2008) 1B - Lee (2005) 2B - Sandberg (1993) SS - Kessinger (1972) 3B - Ramirez (2005) LF - Kingman (1980) CF - Fukudome (2008) RF - Sosa (2004) P - Passeau (1946) DH - Rizzo (2015)

  12. Well that sucks
  13. Yes Maddon seems to like to do that, I approve especially with the next 6 games coming against teams that are technically the closest to us in the division.
  14. Hendricks v. Scherzer also gave a slight edge to the Nats I'm actually kinda shocked Hammel's peripherals are so "bad" (a 3.70 ERA isn't all that awful at the end of the day). I remember him actually pitching very very well for the first starts of the year and only has he seemed completely off course around that leg injury. He's walking an extra batter per 9 from last season, and his strike out rate is slightly lower, so yeah. Get better Jason. I think a big reason is that Hammel is a fly ball pitcher that typically has a FB/HR rate around 12-12.5%, and this year its at 8.7% which would be among the best 10 or so pitchers in the NL (i think). He has allowed only 15% of his runners to score when usually it is about 22-28%. Also his BABIP against is at .251 this year after being around .280ish the last few years. His peripherals suggest he is getting unsustainably lucky.
  15. So, Bickell's contract basically cost us Saad and Teuvo. Do we hate him forever for this or do we cut him some slack because he was a huge part of a Stanley Cup run (the one that earned him the contract)?
  16. I'm sure part of the savings will be for resigning Shaw, but hoping some of it will be to lock up Panarin long term. Still lots of offseason left but we could be returning the same offense that started last year just without Teuvo (and of course Ladd, Weiss, Fleissmann). Going to have a lot of depth issues although defensively we should be better. edit: forgot Panik who they will probably resign now.
  17. More like the Blackhawks were so desperate to get rid of Bickell's cap number. Dammit that sucks.
  18. I'm pretty sure they find a place for what may be the best relief pitcher in baseball. At the very least top 5.
  19. Today's starters by ERA: Hammel - 2.36 Strasburg - 3.03 Today's starters by FIP: Hammel - 3.70 Strasburg - 2.77 Today's starters by xFIP: Hammel - 4.12 Strasburg - 2.78
  20. I've heard Avery Bradley, #3, 16 & 23 for Butler. I don't know how I'd feel about that but Buddy Hield or Kris Dunn could be fun. I'd do it if we could trade 3, 14, 16 and 23 for the #1 or 2 pick
  21. Man some heyward abs against lefties just look awful
