  1. That's why we forced Russell to struggle in September
  2. Also, not Heyward but whatever...playing with the arbitrary end points - Montero edition: Last 22 games: .310/.385/.517/.902 18-58, 3 2B, 3 HR, 6 BB, 13 K Similar to Heyward, you have to go back 46 games and 125 AB (May 20th because of injuries and reduced playing time) to account for Miggy's previous 6 XBH before his hot streak.
  3. Who knows how predictive this is and yes arbitrary end points and all that jazz but... Last 14 games: .304/.411/.478/.889 14-46, 5 2B, 1 HR, 9 BB, 7 K 6 XBH in 46 AB.....his previous 6 XBH were accumulated over 123 AB over 33 games.
  4. I did that like 6 years ago in a 10 team private league where I lead the league in pts scored, but ended up like 8th/9th. I'll have to look at my fantasy history and try to find that. That was a very frustrating year. Basically you played guys who had their season high pts total against you. EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK! Then the following week, those guys would score like 30+ pts less. This happened to me in my keeper league 2-3 years ago. Ended the season with far and away the most points but missed out on the playoffs with like a 5-9 record since I played the highest scorer every week. Update: After the 3pm games, I held a 154-139 lead. Opponent had Roethlisberger left, I have Minnesota's D. You can see where this is going. Normally in that situation I'd feel pretty good about winning. But Roethlisberger scores him 43 points and now I need 25 points from Vikings D to avoid going 0-4. I am likely to finish with the 3rd most points in the league this week and of course my opponent will finish with the 2nd most. How does this keep happening?
  5. How about the guy that started a thread calling Madison Bumgarner a gay slur. Some derided the OP for it, but the thread is still open and 3 pages long and the entire first page is fat shaming his girlfriend/wife. I won't link to it but its right there on their main board's front page.
  6. everyone knows its a weighted crapshoot and some writers don't want to submit the 3000th prediction that has the best team winning the world series. I will eat up all the predictions articles because I am starving for the NLDS to start, but I don't take anything from them. If you found a bunch of quotes from people saying that the Cubs aren't the best team in baseball, that's slightly different. Edit: and of course banedon just said the same thing 3 mins ago
  7. Partially conceded yesterday based on the Sofa/David logic train (once you cut through the snark :)). But went to solidify it with numbers and found a bunch of articles that show that in the WC era the colder September teams basically fared better than the hottest september teams in the playoffs. Here's one of the articles: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/09/26/sports/baseball/hot-teams-know-titles-are-won-in-october-not-september.html?smid=tw-nytsports&smtyp=cur&_r=0 I concede!
  8. Taking a shot in the dark for Friday....I believe on the days with 4 games there are early afternoon, late afternoon, early evening and late evening time slots. I believe the games can overlap a bit if necessary (like one game starting 2 hours after another game). Early Afternoon (1:07 CT?) - Blue Jays/Orioles at Rangers Late Afternoon (3:37 CT?) - Dodgers at Nationals Early Evening (6:07 CT?) - Red Sox at Indians Late Evening (8:37 CT?) - Giants/Mets at Cubs Reasoning: -All home teams are eastern and central teams. Dodgers might end up being the only playoff team west of CT -Because of this, it seems almost certainly that one of the CT home teams will be in the late evening time slot (assuming they won't start a game after 9PM local time in ET) -That leaves Cubs or Rangers. The Jays, Orioles and Rangers have nowhere near the national interest of the Cubs, Giants and Mets. The Cubs will be the late slot. -For the other games, if its the Blue Jays, they will almost certainly be early afternoon as a Canadian team doesn't move the dial as much on US TV without a local fanbase pumping up numbers. Even if its the Orioles, that series clearly has the least national teams involved. -Complete guess on the other 2. Assuming the Red Sox would be ever so slightly more enticing for prime time than the Dodgers.
  9. I forgot, what color jersey does Michigan wear on the road?
  10. He actually sat out 4 of the last 5 games which is shameful IMO. He won it by 1 point over Murphy. Weiss made some remark about how if Murphy was playing then he'd let LaMahieu play as well LeMahieu had around 50 more plate appearances over Murphy, so meh. Who cares? I started typing up a rebuttal that talked about how LeMahieu certainly deserved it with his play all year but just doesn't seem right to win it by sitting for that long. Then I started to have 'you are paid to play the game' arguments pop into my head and I immediately canceled my post scared that by using phrases like 'shameful' and 'paid to play' I am morphing into Colin Cowherd or similar meatballery. AGHHHHH!!!
  11. Everyone better pick the Cubs to win it all. Except Kyle because I could totally see Kyle picking the Dodgers or something just to be contrarian. Orioles over Blue Jays 7-5 Giants over Mets 4-2 Orioles over Rangers 3-2 Red Sox over Indians 3-1 Cubs over Giants 3-1 Dodgers over Nats 3-2 Red Sox over Orioles 4-1 Cubs over Dodgers 4-2 Cubs over Red Sox 4-1, winning game 5 at Wrigley Orioles are my "postseason is a crapshoot/wild card winner that advances through DS" team. Everything else is fairly chalk.
  12. The Cubs starting rotation finished with a lower ERA (2.96) than the AL league leader (Aaron Sanchez - 3.00)
  13. He actually sat out 4 of the last 5 games which is shameful IMO. He won it by 1 point over Murphy. Weiss made some remark about how if Murphy was playing then he'd let LaMahieu play as well
  14. MIGS the meaningless baseball was only boring when we weren't winning hah
  15. Woo hoo! Ross should really be taking this AB though
  16. It's also been a running thing that they haven't been 10 games over all season. They have gotten to 9 so many times and always lose. They can win to get to 10 over on the same day they are eliminated from the playoffs
  17. Dammit I'm not gonna get a playoff game thread start am I?
  18. Holy hell Almora that was a spectacular catch
  19. And the Pirates took a 2-1 lead on the Cardinals so now St Louis needs a win on top of help
  20. Here come the reserves Szczur, Kawasaki, LaStella, Coghlan, Baez all in the game
  21. Man what was the exit velocity on that Soler foul ball? What a bomb
  22. Things I never thought I'd be saying back in March: Yess Heywards slg% up to .325
  23. Please please please start hitting Detroit. I want freaking baseball tomorrow
