  1. Such as? Sorry, had a crying baby on my lap when I posted that, meant to come back and add quotes http://www.csnchicago.com/chicago-cubs/clubhouse-frustration-bubbling-cubs-and-jake-arrieta I guess critical is the wrong word, but I think he was respectfully disagreeing with it.
  2. Miggy also said some critical things about Joes postseason prep
  3. These are meaningless games. That doesn't mean they're pitching underhand. Grimm and Rondon have looked bad, Strop is coming back from an injury, and Edwards control has been a touch wobbly. Edwards and Strop are probably fine, but I'd really like to see a couple good outings from Rondon. Think of it like NFL preseason. They are going full speed but the playbook is vanilla. Chris Bosio basically said the same thing on the score today. I think we just have so much idle time we are all finding things to worry about. I'm still more worried about the sluggish offensive month than anything pitching related but again it's probably just because I'm searching for things to worry about.
  4. Flap your flippers in the air like you just don't care.
  5. Jake finishes his season with a 3.10 ERA
  6. Yes these 3 innings negate the entire season of numbers. The theory was him was flipping back into God-mode. I'm not saying he sucks. But his year long stats certainly aren't God-mode either. He's obviously very good. Boz also said on the score today that there are about 10 advanced scouts from the Mets/Cardinals/Giants at every game and they are approaching hitters differently than they normally would, unusual pitch sequences and generally treating like spring training to some degree. I'm didn't see jake using much of the slider that he was getting swings and misses on his last start. Who knows what he's really doing out there, what's real and what we can draw conclusions from
  7. Yep. Not an inspiring performance heading into the playoffs. Hope we get a better jake against Syndergaard/Bumgarner
  8. By eye test he doesn't seem like he has as good of stuff as last time. Not much swing and miss and a bit of hard contact. Also still getting behind a high percentage of batters.
  9. Wtf is this ump doing? 3 strikes called balls so far
  10. Theo is on ESPN 1000, he was asked about the story and said the creepy stuff was exaggerated to fit the narrative. Of course he's gonna say that though.
  11. Hasn't it been exactly 350 days since a Theo-led team has won a playoff series? Come on Theo we're waiting.
  12. YESSSSSSSSSS I was a bit worried that he would dart if we won the World Series. Obviously I'd be more than thrilled with winning the WS, but its nice to know we can have both.
  13. Alright, so it's an Arrieta-start dress rehearsal lineup. I'd still prefer Javy in there over Cogs when Jake is pitching even against a righty. I think having Javy's defensive upgrade is more valuable than Cog's considerably smaller offensive upgrade.
  14. I just think he hasn't thrown enough innings. Pretty much the only reason Hendricks has a Cy Young case is because he's leading baseball in ERA by over a half a run, fairly or not. If you group Noah with the power pitchers he hasn't thrown enough innings compared to someone like Scherzer. He should be in more conversations though.
  15. Or he just watched last week's film
  16. Again, other than saving money Rose had nothing to gain by taking this to trial. Even if he's completely innocent, this is getting really ugly and damaging to his reputation, at least within circles that care about the trial like a lot of people in the cities of New York and Chicago. If they would have quietly settled a year ago before the court depos and public back and forth, the only thing Rose would have lost is money. Which is important but for a guy that has generational wealth, you'd think he'd value his reputation more.
  17. Brett from BN said on twitter he through at 10am sharp and wasn't able to get a ticket. Strange...
  18. Scherzer is right behind him, but he has pitched 40+ innings more than Fernandez, which is both a detriment to Scherzer (with regards to WAR) and a point in his favor. Taking a look at the numbers Fernandez does compare favorably in many categories so maybe I am changing my opinion. That said the way the OP was framed ("Been hearing that this is a legit possibility now, if not likelihood.") made it seem like CubsBearsMagic was asking if he now should win the Cy Young because of his tragic passing. If he wins, it will be on merit, or at least it should.
  19. Why not? With no clear cut favorite, and a perfectly respectable resume on his own, what harm is there if a few votes that were considering going another way swing into his favor? especially if they were going to go against him for something stupid like where his team is in the standings Well yeah I would agree with that if they were otherwise going to use bad logic to vote, but the Cy Young is awarded to best pitcher. If he wasn't your best pitcher last week then he's not your best pitcher now because he died tragically. If you want to use it as a tiebreaker then fine.
  20. If it's a legit possibility now, it should have been equally as legit of a possibility on Saturday night. His numbers are certainly Cy Young worthy, but I don't think he's the runaway favorite. He might end up getting votes because of the tragedy but he shouldn't. My ballot right now is something like 1. Scherzer 2. Hendricks 3. Fernandez 4. Kershaw 5. Lester
  21. Love putting the Cubs in a positive light but the RD stat is slightly misleading because something like 15 other teams had a better run differential before 162 game seasons like the 27 Yankees were over 400. That said you might just being using that benchmark to imply 3rd best RD in modern era (post 1960)
