  1. This is the [expletive] reason I love me some Joe Maddon. This is the perfect lineup for this game. Defense will win this game. Doesn't really surprise me one bit. Javy as Jon's personal 3B is almost as locked in as Rossy as his personal C
  2. All night games this series. Be prepared to be tired (and happy) on Tuesday morning [tweet] [/tweet]
  3. Damn, the Dodgers are able to put 8 lefties in their starting lineup against Scherzer today (including Kershaw). Why is that important? Scherzer OPS against vs. RH: .477 Scherzer OPS against vs. LH: .757
  4. i'm actually ubering but i didn't feel like typing that for some reason Okay good. Between that and missing the game I was starting to worry about you. I guess you're just a worrier. That's why your friends call you Whiskers
  5. It's kind of weird that the Cubs were the first team to clinch the playoffs, but will be the last playoff team to play, with one playoff team already having played 3 games by the time the Cubs step on the field. Heck the Blue Jays will be 2/3rds of the way to the ALCS by the time the Cubs play if their score holds
  6. It's got to be damn near impossible to avoid hearing an update at a big concert in Chicago with today's technology. Yep, I was at a Jason Isbell show last year on the first game of the NLDS. Couldn't take 2 steps without someone telling the score, then the final It didn't help I was wearing a Cubs shirt. I went to Lion King musical with my now wife on a Thursday night where the Bears were playing the Dolphins. This was like 2010ish, smart phones were out there and fairly common but not like today. During intermission, I put headphones on to avoid accidentally overhearing someone checking their phones and discussing the game. My wife was mortified at how ridiculous I was being, but I was taping the damn game and wanted to watch it. On the way home, my wife put on the country station and I figured it was relatively safe. About 3 minutes from home, the DJ came on in between songs and said "Hope you enjoyed your Thursday night and Go Bears! Big win tonight over the Dolphins". SOB, SO CLOSE! Anyways I then vowed never to attempt to avoid a sports result when I cant watch live.
  7. I'm waiting for the daily 'Trump says/does something stupid' controversy to take my mind off the game for a bit.
  8. Also Hammel can officially be a disgruntled Cub.
  9. Feel bad for Szczur, on the roster all year but not on the playoff roster (for the NLDS at least). Obviously Almora is a defensive upgrade over Szczur, but I think Almora's strong hitting after September callups (.310/.355/.552/.907 in admittedly small 31 PA sample size) combined with Scissors struggles since mid-august (.136/.190/.169/.360 in 61 PA) clinched the spot for him.
  10. I don't think he's walking with a limp anymore but I'm sure he will pull one off for dramatic effect anyways
  11. I glanced at that last night, figured I didn't read it right. Guess I did. same, I almost went back to view it again but I figured there was no way it said what I thought it did. What was the graphic actually trying to say? I would guess "First Rookie OF" but that doesn't sound like a very interesting fact.
  12. If anyone cares, Levine is saying the Cubs will release their NLDS roster at 10, so an hour from now.
  13. In honor of the playoffs starting tomorrow I present to you this video. I've literally been looking for video of this since it happened 13 years ago. Patiently waiting for someone to post it to YouTube. It was finally posted one week ago. Aramis Ramirez hits 2 HRs and drives in 6 in Game 4 of the 2003 NLCS: [bbvideo=560,315]https://youtu.be/2NcfNoFtyZo[/bbvideo]
  14. So guessing lineup is.... Fowler CF (S) Bryant LF ® Rizzo 1B (L) Zobrist 2B (S) Russell SS ® Heyward RF (L) Baez 3B ® Ross C ® Lester P (L) Debated with switching Heyward and Russell but wanted to avoid 3 straight righties in the lineup
  15. [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]
  16. 2 funny stats: -The Cubs had a better road record this season than the Giants home record -The Cubs had a better run differential on the road this season than the Giants total RD for the season. The same can also be said about the Cubs RD at home.
  17. This is a VERY interesting pick up
  18. What does this mean? I'm not a betting man You win back $215 if you bet $100 and they win, plus your original $100. Basically puts Cubs at 70% to win That sounds insane but I guess the oddsmakers are trying to balance out all that Chicago money
  19. Bingo. Came 5 days after his PC. That reminds me to check Kim's instagram like a creep.
  20. The Marshall for Wood trade was one of the first moves I remember Theo making. It may even have been his first trade. Does anyone remember what his first official player transaction was?
  21. And having an offense that is a lot better than the Giants 5 times out of 5. I like the Cubs chances. And a pen, and a defense......
  22. We may be playing for a pennant or a title in later series, but this series is important because it determines which team has the coconuts, and I like coconuts so I hope its us.
  23. When people post things like that, I am not sure if they actually believe that the Cubs chances actually lowered because they have the top seed.
