Apparently Jake had the flu tonight and considered it a big accomplishment that he made it into the 6th inning. That would probably explain the lack of velocity and wildness in the 6th
So when Bama, FSU and OSU all lose road games to ranked opponents Michigan is #1 right? Ok no way Bama loses but I could easily see the other 2 going down
3.32 in 10 starts since the All-Star break. You're right that 2015 Jake is not here, but the one that is isn't so bad. Yeah not bad at all. There was a time where I thought we had to have ace Jake to win it all but I'm far past that point. He can be a solid 2nd or 3rd starter and we have a great chance of winning his playoff starts
I met Fred and a few others through this site way way way back when (2005-06 timeframe?) and it was certainly a memorable experience. How cool was it to meet THE stats guy from NSBB at a Cubs game in real life!? He was an amazing person to share a Cubs game with. Very sad news. Yeah I remember he'd call me at like 9am on a Saturday and be like "hey I've got Cubs tickets come on down to the park and let's go" and I'd be like "ugh Fred I'm kind of hung over" but I couldn't say no and was always happy I went.
Perhaps you should pick up where he's left off. Pi, send him Fred's famous spreadsheet. You will probably have a couple months worth of data to update but then after that you should be all set
I'm so so sorry to hear that. Fred was a great guy and as strange as it sounds made you feel like a really good friend the first time you met him. RIP to one of the key people who made NSBB the great site it is. And sorry for your loss Pi, please let your family know that he had a great community of online friends who will miss him dearly. Also you mean 1851 right?
Good work by jake. Thought it was going to be one of those 6 inning 108 pitch outings where we walks 4 but only gives up 1-2 runs but he's gotten it going over the last 3 innings, altuve bloop HR aside
