If the catcher is Willy and especially if it's against a lefty starter he should absolutely be higher. Probably where Heyward is.

Jon Lester has pitched 14 innings in the postseason and has given up 1 run on a pop fly and thrown just 163 pitches. That's an average of 105 pitches thrown every 9 innings

Yep. He probably starts his daily lineup construction with the thought "now what's the dumbest thing I could do?" and then works backwards

I don't think it's pressing because it's the postseason. He has stretches like this in the regular season each year too where he looks lost, has a lot of weak contact and expands his zone frequently.

If anyone is worried about the wind blowing out hard, IIRC the wind was also blowing heavily out during Lester's start against the Dodgers this year (9IP 1 ER)
