  1. 2 pretty bad calls against the Cubs so far today.
  2. None if we keep playing like this I mean, don't they still kinda have to? This rotation is just going to keep getting older and the FA market isn't looking too hot. If they are like 7-8 games out of a playoff spot in mid-July (which is still even with this crappy start highly unlikely of course), they could decide to hang onto resources instead of making a deal for a rental like Darvish and just pursue him in the offseason. Or another pitcher in the offseason when the price is likely lower than at the deadline. I know that goes against Theo's 'every season is sacred' motto but maybe it makes sense to avoid giving up prospects like Happ or Jimenez in a lost season.
  3. It does seem like the Cubs go out of their way to make one terrible defensive play in every Lackey start just to piss him off.
  4. Oh my gosh, what in the hell is wrong with these losers?
  5. SSS but he's been awful at protecting AR this season. Sub 700 OPS in the 4. I appreciate that Joe still has a bit of traditional wisdom but I don't care for this particular hangup. I mean he did do most of last year with an .819 OPS.
  6. To be entirely fair - when was the last time you spent all seven days of the week onsite at your job? mostly kidding, im glad he was working overtime to figure out an ailing offense.
  7. 'Breaking News: Hitting Coach Does His Job'
  8. Dex is back at Wrigley. Almost forgot about that
  9. We possibly could if Theo's goons 'convince' Heyward to opt out after next season.
  10. Rizzo, 1B Bryant, 3B Harper, RF Jimenez, LF Happ, 2B Russell, SS Heyward, CF Contreras, C (forgive me schwarbs and javy)
  11. Happ is probably at the point where he's making his adjustments to opponents adjustments. Didn't he hit the ball hard a couple of times on Wednesday?
  12. Remember when Javy came up in 2014 and after some initial success was so inexplicably bad that some of us completely gave up on him and he spent most of the next season in the minors? Javy's last 130 PA of 2014: .153/.231/.229/.460, 11 BB, 52K Schwarbers last 132 PA: .122/.235/.278/.513, 16 BB, 37K Im still not admitting Schwarber needs to go to Iowa, more just shocked at how bad he's been. That run from Javy was about the worst stretch of hitting from 1 player that I've ever seen, and while Schwarber's numbers are slightly better, they are in that same range of awfulness.
  13. They've matched last seasons worst slump which was from when they were 25-6 to a game before the All Star break. They went 78-31 the rest of the season so we've got our work cut out
  14. 17 hits in 49.2 IP against pitchers not named Clayton Kershaw on the road trip. That's an average of 3.1 hits per 9 innings
  15. If the Cubs play at a 100 win pace the rest of the year they will finish 92-70
  16. When is the All Star break? We need something to slow this awful downward momentum
  17. Sweeeet 0-6 road trip for the defending world champions
  18. We are the worst baseballers of all time.
  19. How cruel is it to have the most ABs vs. RISP in the NL but by far the lowest average with RISP in the NL?
  20. Perdomo at 94 pitches. He needs just 1 more scoreless out to get his ERA below 5. You can do it buddy!
