  1. Milwaukee down 2-0 in the 1st Yes I'm gonna scoreboard watch here deal with it.
  2. I can't put my finger on why but for some reason I am enjoying the Cubs more in the second half
  3. #4 pick in the 2012 draft, has good stuff for the most part. As you've seen with guys like Arrieta sometimes there's a real fine line between being absolutely awful and figuring it out
  4. http://gifrific.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Thats-Gold-Jerry-Gold-Kenny-Bania-Seinfeld-Quote.gif
  5. Geez the Brewers get the shitty ass Phillies out of the break? Please win at least 2 of 3 Cubs
  6. http://s2.quickmeme.com/img/ac/ac1b2e05b9b1d1c122aac3f986d3ad83c3cdc43443b8dcb884967bbd5f177d34.jpg I am full of useless mildly interesting information.
  7. Second half starts tonight are we playing out the string or ready to make a run? Cubs haven't played in Baltimore in 14 years, by far the longest gap between appearances at another team's home park. Len Kasper has been calling virtually all Cubs games since 2005 and has never in his life been to Camden. Overall the Cubs have played the Orioles the last of any current major league team, playing just the 1 time at Camden in 2003, then series at Wrigley in 2008 and I think 2013. So not many interleague matchups would be considered novel these days, but I guess the Cubs playing games at Camden Yards is as close as it gets.
  8. Super weird I don't remember the details of a trade from nine years ago. This trade was a board highlight. A poster said that he called the Tribune Company switchboard and the secretary said a trade was imminent. We all laughed and the poster relied not to poke fun because he had cancer. Everyone was still reeling in shock when the trade got announced. No word if the original poster was the purple Fanta shirt guy. switchboard caller, Fanta shirt guy, wetbutt23: who is the all time best Chicago baseball trade leaker of all time?
  9. Maybe I'm just missing some obvious examples, but I cannot think of too many trades that the Cubs have made that I regret that we made. Like even the Harden deal, he gave us like 25 quality starts and could only go like 4 innings in the playoffs before falling off the rails and if you look at WAR the A's completely fleeced us, but I don't regret it at all considering where Donaldson was in his development at the time and how much we needed a pitcher of Harden's quality on the team (and he was under control for another season). I do regret the Garza trade. I loved Archer at the time and we weren't really in the position to be adding pieces for prospects to an aging team that was losing talent and had a weak farm system.
  10. wow i thought they retired bob howry's number. only because the poop emoji wasn't invented yet
  11. Did you know the Cubs once just gave away Josh Hamilton to the Reds for cash?
  12. it's funny I feel the same way considering we gave up what ended up being a future perennial mvp candidate for harden More importantly Matt Murton and a poster's son
  13. If any team could make it work, it'd probably be Oakland with their penchant for guys who don't necessarily have super high ceilings, although I agree it would probably require either Almora or Happ. I could see him loving Zagunis Happ, Zagunis, Candelario and Clifton? I'm horrible at these things so feel free to mock me.
  14. [tweet] [/tweet] Quintana hinders this season how? Man he is a stupid fuk.. i wont even click the article to find out. Wait my mind is literally blown. We trade 4 players who are playing in High-A ball or lower for a top 10 pitcher in baseball and his complaint is that we focused too much on the future? Like, I can't even begin to unwrap that logic. I get that there are sports writers out there that live and die on hot takes crafted to get a reaction out of fans, but this doesn't even make any sense. It would be like saying "My friend repeatedly cheated on his girlfriend, why is he so obsessed with commitment and being faithful?" Is there a caretaker or something looking after him?
  15. Everyone knows theres about an 85% chance Quintana allows a run in the first inning of his first start and there will be 4 variations of "I guess he's officially a cub" jokes made in the game thread right?
  16. Tough break everyone, 4-5 years from now the Cubs are screwed. Plus if you think Theo is going to give up on player development and not exhaust every resource not tied to the major league club to rebuild the farm you are a moron
  17. Yep someone said they heard Quintana to the Cubs for 4 prospects last night on White Sox Reddit
  18. The Red Sox offer was better. moncada is at worst on PT with Jimenez but a majority still have Moncada slightly higher plus he's much closer to the majors so less risk. Kopech is a higher regarded prospect than Cease and while they might have similar injury concerns Kopech is closer to majors. The other 2 guys the Cubs gave the Red Sox seem like fillers to me
  19. Lots and lots of wrong things here. Did you do that on purpose? What exactly is wrong with this opinion? Lots and lots
  20. Where's the other 24m? Hopefully the Cubs have the payroll flexibility to add $20+ mil by then. They own most of the rooftops and will be operating the hotel and all the other new revenue streams.
  21. Goodbye buddy http://mlb.mlb.com/images/3/7/8/189187378/071016_jimenez_med_z2mq4eqp.gif
  22. Glad I can get both my mom and Ken Rosenthal's takes on the trade in one place.
  23. This is where I'm at too. Since 2013, Quintana has the 7th highest WAR amongst starting pitchers.
  24. The White Sox now have 9 prospects in the top 68, and 2 of the top 5, while the Cubs join the Royals as the only 2 teams without a top 100 guy.
  25. And we're back. I'm guessing the Cubs agreed to let the Sox do the media rounds first because I haven't heard anyone from the Cubs comment yet. Apparently Jed will be on the score at 2
