  1. They interviewed the guy after the fight and it's reattachment. He was aware it was snapped off. He didn't tell anyone because he "thought he had the guy."
  2. Can we put that in the Cubs general thread? They are losing 3-0 to the Rockies there.
  3. A flaming car careening off of a cliff is technically a type of blaze of glory.
  4. That makes sense if you assume the Cubs will and are currently making good decisions.
  5. OSU/Purdue losses are really going to hurt my "fade Baylor" strategy.
  6. If anyone is itching for some +EV action, Draftkings has a March Madness pool with 2 million guaranteed in payouts (1 mil to first) and it almost certainly won't get enough 100 dollar entries to meet that 2 million pool (at just over 7k entries at the moment). They are offering some pretty heinous deals (to me at least) to get it to fill. Might want to check it out if you're a degen.
  7. My interest in chess has been mostly in the last five years or so. Is Leko roughly equivalent to Giri now? Leko was the Giri of 10 years ago, but with slightly better results. He won the candidates in 2005 to challenge Kramnik for the title in a best of 14 match. He was up a point heading into the final game, but lost. Ironically for Leko, the match resulted in a draw, with Kramnik retaining the title. It wound up being a kind of neat match, as openings were constantly being switched around, as both players were especially capable within lots of different systems and were trying to avoid the other's prep. I always thought his chess was on the dull side, but he was an amazing player, and everyone seems to like him.
  8. I was tickled that the most notorious draw-master of the oughts was this up in arms over a very stylish draw. Just added to the absurdity.
  9. Peter Leko: not a bongcloud fan
  10. I've been watching WAY too many youtube videos on swing mechanics and working to rehaul my swing at ranges when the sun peaks out, but we just got a foot of snow a few days ago so I guess its another slow-motion breakdown of Akshay Bhatia's swing for me. I re-did my swing several months ago and went into a period where I was absolutely terrible. Finally, I feel like I am getting the improvements I want - I was borderline good yesterday. Did 18 holes Saturday. Absolute trash, apart from approach. Irons were WAY longer and pretty straight, apart from 1 in 4 that I was pulling left, which is the opposite of what I used to do. Driver was so poor I considered just hitting 4 irons instead, but stuck with it. Never got better.
  11. The question is when should you get relief from a divot in the fairway? It’s not black and white. Up until you see any grass growing in the divot? What stinks is that a player rakes a sand trap, which is a hazard, so the next person in it gets a good lie, but you can get terrible lies in the fairway. The rub of the green they say. I don’t think there’s really a question, you should always get relief from a fairway divot. It makes no sense why you shouldn’t. Just get the standard club length that doesn’t put you closer to the hole/improve the lie (going from rough to fairway). Treat a divot like a sprinkler head if the ball is in it. I think if you're in the fairway, you should get to do whatever the hell you want to the ball, so long as it doesn't put you closer to the hole, or change your approach angle. Reward good shots.
  12. I have had zero spare time for about two months now but I havent' given up on it. As soon as I can, I'll get back out there. I've been watching WAY too many youtube videos on swing mechanics and working to rehaul my swing at ranges when the sun peaks out, but we just got a foot of snow a few days ago so I guess its another slow-motion breakdown of Akshay Bhatia's swing for me.
  13. Effort and execution are impeccable.
  14. makes me wonder what would happen if a javy slide met a javy tag? A rip in the spacetime continuum. JUUUUUST in case you all hadn't seen this yet: [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]
  15. I'll give em the benefit of the doubt and offer that maybe the song was a change-up joke? "It seems you're having some trouble In dealing with these changes Living with these changes (oh no) The world is a scary place Now that you've woken up the demon in me."
  16. They will overall play less games and get the same pay. You don't seem to be missing anything. What do you think is fair?
  17. Lol. I had to take a walk around the block because it was so stupid. I didn't even stick around to see if the FG was good.
  18. Even setting aside those who don’t think the Cubs should remotely care about payroll, yes they absolutely should have done that. Reasonable people can disagree! I guess we can reevaluate whether it was worth it in 2031. Every dollar in Bryce's account is a dollar not in PTR's account. No need to wait for 2031.
  19. I didn't know USA Network still existed. I assumed they stopped broadcasting around 2014 after running a month-long Burn Notice/Monk marathon.
  20. Shot a 98 today and was pretty happy about it. Especially since I THINK I holed a shot from 120 yards out, but it bounced out with those blue foam things in the hole. Oh well. Played with my Dad and a rando. After an intro and chit chat we realized he was from the Chicago area in Wisconsin, and they both went to UW Oshkosh for college, and only a year apart. Had a bunch of mutual friends. Small world.
