Because he has 2 years left on his deal, and they dont want to piss him off After 99 years of futility, the Cubs shouldn't care about feelings. Marquis hurt me feelings with his mediocre pitching this year. With that said, he won't be the reason we lose the series. Plus he can pinch hit early and not cause Lou to waste a hitter. Did Hart start in the minors? He could have been the longman. He still might be.

That was the best possible outcome. Soto catching Z tomorrow. Lou said just a few days ago that Kendall would do the majority of catching, but that obviously didn't work out.

The Cubs did beat Webb, but he pitched well, only giving up two runs in seven innings. With that said, Webb has been far from spectacular lately. I hope that Z can settle down on the mound. In 03, he was pitching near 100 MPH, but didn't have the sink. He is much more effective when he can throw a 90 MPH sinker and drop in that splitter. When Z was on a roll, the splitter was quite effective. But you have to get ahead in the count to use it.

Pitching and defense is what works in the playoffs. Ask the Yankees of years past. AZ has a decent amount of this. I don't think the series will be as easy as some think. The Cubs are going to have to beat Webb twice, a tough task.

SD scared me more. Both Philly and Colorado can hit, but compared to the AL, this penant is really winnable. -
Nice little rug burn there. But I don't think he cares right now. That throw was a rainbow. I thought there would be no play. But Barrett is just not good at blocking and catching balls.

When the NBA on TNT playoffs were on, the Comcast Sports Channel was allowed to have their own people do the Bulls game on their own channel. I wish they would allow that for the opening series on the MLB playoffs. -

The schedule actually works out nicely for me as well. I understand the late game for the Phoenix area. I wouldn't like the game starting at 5 PM if I lived in Phoenix. The home field partially determines the times, which is why AZ will have to see the game at 11 on Sunday (if they are in the Pacific zone). If you don't have cable in the Chicago area, will the games be on regular TV? -
Scotty Eyre has given up only two runs since the beginning of July. That's 2 runs in 29 appearances. Wow. Are you confident with him in the playoffs?

Protests are free now. That was actually announced at the end of the game over the PA a few games back.

Well Lou himself said that he manages different now compared to what he used to back in the 90's. He is more of a player's manager than he used to be. He shouldn't get all over Soriano for last night's performance, but he should say something. Jesse Rogers from the SCORE tried to insinuate to Soriano that he should be glad that his team picked him up, and Soriano didn't even know he made a ton of mental mistakes last night.
