  1. He does have a crappy ERA and WHIP, but he was in the AL East. Lilly sure improved here. Could anyone else from the minors have started in place of Trachsel fro the double headers?
  2. What if the MLB made it such that once a player is drafted/signed by a team, that player could not leave. What would the Cubs' roster look like?
  3. Is there a thread about the Mets/Phillies game last night I think where the second baseman was taken out and the runner was called out for interference? I agree with the call because the runner did not even try to slide before he hit the fielder. Doesn't an attempt have to be made to slide before the base?
  4. Maybe America's Team shouldn't have fans who support the team/ownership through the good and bad. America is about the bottom line and the bottom line is winning for the fans.
  5. it worked for them last time But I think that change was midseason
  6. and he don't bunt, neither. He tries to hit sacs, but the darn balls keep on going over the walls. I hate it when that happens!
  7. Well he was serious about it. I still like Terry though.
  8. That guy looks like Javy Vazquez with no hair
  9. He can't come back now; he just started running and hitting. Still, Terry Boers promised he wouldn't come back until mid-September. I hope he comes back by Labor Day just to prove Terry wrong. I like Terry, but his view of Soriano as just a notch above an average player, true as it may be, seems to have influenced him here.
  10. That Bonds pic is nice." The Road to History" with Bonds in the background. Theriot needs to break a MLB record and it will be much cooler.
  11. How can a man throw so hard and make the ball sink so much in such a short period of time? Off topic, but it seems that Z's sinker is not sinking like it did in years past. It looks more like a 4-seamer.
  12. Look at the Cubs' ERA when Hill catches compared to when Kendall catches. It's like 3.00 to 5.00. Hill can throw out runners too. He's a decent backup. What is weird is that he said he was always known as a good hitter and an average defensive catcher and game caller.
  13. Word. He talked to talk, but he certainly did not walk the walk when it came to the steroid hearings in Washington. I lost a ton of respect for him that day.
  14. Man Barry does think he is innocent. He has fooled himself. But we must remember that Bonds did sue the authors of "Game of Shadows" only to revoke it once the government began their case. One the one hand it looks like Bonds is trying to cover his butt, but on the other hand it gives him a touch of credibility. Wait, did I just say that. This is really what Barry does not want. The only thing that could make him look worse is if this somehow went to trial and we come to know in a court of law that Barry did knowingly take steroids.
  15. Carl Everett, Offerman's teamate, was the one who took the bat out of his hands
  16. Soriano's hottest month was when the Cubs were cold. His worse months was when the Cubs were hot actually.
  17. So most teams have worse starting pitching because a total 3.89 ERA is good for second or third in the NL
  18. What is the ERA of the pen for the season? How does it compare to other NL teams?
  19. He has 5 career putouts in 256 games. The point is that Soriano has a better, more accurate arm.
  20. Actually there is. It's the player who bats first and leads off the game. Is he ideal? No. But he can't hit down in the order because he can't hit curveballs. This is proven. Accept it. Check your stats. He has 18 SB and has been only caught 5 times. That's 78%. Not many teams sign guys to big contracts who hit dingers in BP. Murton is a strong guy, but he has not shown that he can hit homeruns consistently in the big leagues. Go ahead, add some loft and see how many times you pop put. DLee said he thought of adding loft, but he knew better. I never said anything about range. Both guys have had trouble catching the ball once they get there. Soriano has a much better arm. I think Soriano has better range because he is faster. But even if I leave that out, Soriano is a better OF because he can throw people out. I think Murton has one career putout when he doubled that guy off of first early last year. I am not bashing Murton. He is a decent bench player and utility OF. But that is all he will ever be.
  21. There is no way Murton hits 30 homers a year except in AAA. Both are bad fielders, but Soriano has one of the best arms (when you look at power and accuracy) in the league. I think Soriano is more than a 30 homer guy too. Plus, Soriano can steal bases. The Cubs needed a leadoff man and they got one. Yes they terribly overpaid, but if the Cubs win the WS with Soriano's help no one will care.
  22. Man that bad baserunning play might have worked out well. The DP was averted and the Cubs ended up scoring 3.
  23. Well that would be because as soon as the MLB began testing players for steroids, Bonds was using the clear, which makes what Bonds was taking undetectable. The MLB does not and has never tested for human growth hormone.
