  1. Lee has to appeal this until ARam gets back
  2. When Lee got hit I just turned it on. It was the first pitch I saw.
  3. Soriano did it in a way. I doubt Young was throwing at Derek. On an 0-2 count?
  4. Where was the Catcher in all this? I can't believe nobody walked down the first base line with Lee. He was talking to the ump. That ump has to be in between them. What was he doing?
  5. I really got to give it to Marcus Giles for getting Young out of the way. Nice work.
  6. Derek wouldn't have gone after him if Young just said that.
  7. Z don't hit anyone. Soriano, stop showboating. We don't need anymore players out now that we are playing good. This is not about sending messages. This is about winning baseball games. I think Lee asked Young if he did that on purpose. Young probably said and I was going for your wrist. Lee said, "You did what?" Then it all went down.
  8. He currently sports a .920 OPS (even after the 2 dingers tonight) and his previous high was .911 and his career OPS is .840. Basically, that means he's likely to regress (esp. over the last few years of the 8 year contract)... and anything less than a 1.000 OPS for 136 mil isn't worth it. So, no, he's not likely to be worth every cent (and wouldn't be even if he kept this same level of production up over the next 8 years) While he won't be able to continually progress, whose to say that he won't be able to get better this year and for a few years to come. The Cubs still overpaid by abut 20 million for him.
  9. When you are a lefty switch hitter and a lefty is brought into the game from the pen to face you, why does it automatically turn hitters around? Hitters who are much better hitters as lefties are forced by their own doing to hit right handed. Is is true that lefty hitters who might be better lefties than righties would be better off facing a lefty pitcher as lefty than as righty. Why do so many switch hitters get automatically turned around and lose their power and average?
  10. Too bad they could have had him for 100 million
  11. Just as it was dumb for NY to sign Isaiah Thomas when he was hot, it would be dumb for the Cubs to dump Z when he's cold. You have to give him a chance. Plus, he won't be worth nearly as much as he would be near the trading deadline. Z has a 3.5 career ERA, gets around 200 innings every year, and is never hurt. You don't dump a young pitcher with that arm after a rough stretch.
  12. The assistant GM today said that the Cubs aren't aware of any injuries to Z. If he's hurt, Z isn't saying anything. His location stinks and his slider has always been a college slider at best. Zambrano doesn't want to go on the DL if he's hurt from his perspective, but I doubt he'll get a huge contract if he has a 12-10 year with a 5.00 ERA. Z has to get his emotions under control. How many times has he sucked and no one has yelled at him?
  13. The two are equally bad. Both spend big money on the wrong players and somehow manage to get extensions after mediocre seasons and extensions in the middle or beginning of the season when things are going good.
  14. I can't believe the NFL took a bunch of the rookies and made them do promotional stuff for the NFL during minicamp. It was mandatory and Olsen and the RB from NIU were taken. I heard Dungy was quite mad at the NFL for this.
  15. I listened to the interview on the SCORE and Farns was cool, calm, and collected when he talked. The media tends to blow out of proportion what some players said. It's the same thing with Ozzie, AJ, and Mike North on the SCORE today. I am a big SCORE fan, but their journalistic integrity has been given a black eye the last two days because in their updates they made both stories way worse than they really were. After Ozzie swore at North, North said, "Clean up your da_ _ mouth when you're talking on the radio and talking to me. Have a little respect, all right? Don't go talking to me like you're talking down to somebody."
  16. Man that blown game 3 sure looms large now. Even when the Bulls shot 75%, the Pistons got within 6. I am getting a little sick and tired of the announcers mentioning that the Bulls are going to have to weather the storm form the Heat and Piston every time the Bulls are up like it is inevitable or something. Nice game Tyrus, PJ, Gordon, and Hinrich!
  17. How was that not a T?
  18. You think Kenny and Charles would ever want to talk about the Bulls? What the heck?
  19. Not sure if my view has already been given, but I have to get this off my chest. First of all the African American community needs better representatives than Jackson and Sharpton. Jackson had an affair and paid the woman off and constantly looks for the limelight. Sharpton was caught in a hypothetical drug scheme in New York. These are your leaders? Now I know that people who are really in the trenches don't put stock in them, but the African American community deserves better leadership. Second, why should there be more blacks in baseball? Basketball is cheaper, easier to form teams, and is more flashy. But the real issue is that the reason fewer blacks are in the MLB is because the sport is truly worldwide. If Jackson wants equality, then there must be equality in baseball. That means that people form Asia and Latin America are coming in. The more that come in, the less African Americans play. Thus if Jackson wants more blacks to play, he is going to have to weed out some of the other races and that is hypocritical. So I would say that the reason that there are fewer blacks (and whites) in the MLB is because other races are coming in. And if Jackson wants equality, equality for all, he should have no issue.
  20. That's a little harsh don't you think? Do you know his eating habits and family history?
  21. I heard this on Holmes and Bernstein today: The White Sox hitting coach, Greg Walker suffered a seizure in a game a few years back as a player. Herm schneider took a pair of scissors and knocked out his two front teeth. He then grabbed Walker's tongue to keep him from choking on it. Wow! This is true right?
  22. Even if he did, why did they not help him in Minnesota (he took them before Minnesota)? What was his weight in MN and Boston?
