If Crede's back wasn't hurt, there is no way Williams would have wanted to trade him, especially after his success in the World Series. He is young, could hit for power and average, and has Gold Glove potential. Yet I have heard that the Yankees are floating a Damon for Crede trade. Kenny signed Konerko after the 2005 championship season. The only time he could have traded him was during their WS run and that wouldn't have gone over well. Contreras CANNOT be traded for a prospect. He has 30 million coming over the next three years. He is old and just doesn't have it anymore.

Nobody wants Contreras and his contract. It's hard to trade an injured Crede. Dye was hurt late last year which made him untradeable. You don't trade Konerko because he has a relatively cheap contract and he can still play. He can still help you win a WS. Buehrle can still win you games. He gave them a hometown discount and he is is still young. Garland had a terrible year and his trade value wasn't much. It's hard to totally clean house and bring it decent talent in today's market. The problem is that they don't have young talent coming up.

Kenny said he has been one of the most consistent SS in the league, but if he is consistent, he is consistently bad. His offensive numbers for 2007 are inflated because he had a great September. With that said, he isn't even consistent because his average has gone down the last four years. Must be slim pickings for shortstops this year.

Man this is going to get interesting. If Bonds says he will boycott the ceremony now, I wonder if he will even get voted in if the writers think that he he won't show up to the ceremony?

Has anyone heard if the Tribune Co. is tearing the field it up, lowering the surface, putting in new drainage, and resodding or seeding it or are they waiting for the new ownership to OK the retrofit meaning it would happen next fall?

Reds Hire Dusty Baker

Good news is that Dusty is in our division now! Cincy won't ever test their young talent to see if they are good. Man do I feel sorry for the Reds. It was such a joy to know that the Cubs had a competent manager this season. It really does make a difference. -

Colorado was incredibly patient last night vs Davis. They didn't score many runs, but they worked about every count. I like that. -
If Arod has one more bad game I think he will be gone. Heck, he might be gone even if the Yankees win. The good news is that the grounds crew has plenty of time to totally rip out the while field for the reconstruction project.

I expected this from Soriano who can't hit anything other than a fastball, but Ramirez has had much better plate discipline historically. I really wish we could get Soriano's contract off our hands.

Hendry sure didn't know it. He was a productive player that Hendry never mentioned. It will be exciting to see him play full-time next year. -

couldn't happen to a worse guy... well maybe it could, but with the way havlat conducts himself on the ice, i'm thinking some of these injuries are karmic justice What does Havlat do? Early reports are that he is out most of the year.

That was a great pitch to Arod. Carmona still had life and movement on his pitches, even in the 9th after 100 pitches. -
The blog says he was drinking with other members of the WGN staff. Remember that they didn't criticize him for drinking, but being a spokesman for diabetes who has had health problems and still drinks. I think those people needs to get a grip and move on. Santo can do whatever the heck he pleases to do with his life. I don't see anywhere where it says "Santo caught drinking, drunk on scene." Again, that has nothing to do with the point I am making

I was listening to Boers and Bernstein today and they commented on Sullivan's blog. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/ They ridiculed Santo for drinking when he is a national spokesman for diabetes while breaking some of the disease's foundational health rules. I guess this goes against doctor's orders and can lead to nerve damage. What do you think of this?

That was Jacque's best throw all season to the plate. He has picked up the defense lately.

I didn't mind Darling. Stockton was bad. But that is usual for him. I am just happy if he gets the names right. And he didn't do that. What was the commercial about during Lou's visit? Tried to push another one in, but they cut it off.
