  1. I've seen a lot of Marmol. I haven't seen Soto yet. I saw him, he's videotaping.
  2. I've seen Marmol. Do you have to go to the HR Derby if you are an All Star?
  3. Yeah, they could trade him. But they aren't going to trade him to anyone who could challenge them. They are going to want to trade him out of the division, and likely out of the NFC. That reduces the number of teams dramatically. Still, they could trade him for a decent player. But who is going to offer anything decent in return when you know that Brett doesn't have many options? Brett could have returned with the Packers in the spring. It sounded as if it was pretty certain that Brett was going to come back. They have a great team. Now everyone is going to hate him for starting this mess up. I hope he either goes to the Bears (which won't happen) or he officially retires.
  4. Second best scenario is that they trade him. Could they get anything good for him? Who can take on that salary?
  5. Brett has been interviewed by Greta Van Sustren who is from Wisconsin and has told the Packers that he won't be a #2 man behind Rogers. The Packers won't release him and asked Brett for a number of teams that he would be willing to go to, but Brett wants to be released and wants to make the decision himself so that he can go to a competitive team. Brett seems a little angry with the Packers brass which can only increase the chances that Brett lands with the Bears. But again, do the Packers have to release him if Brett desires that? Oh and Brett said he was pressured to retire by the Packers because he wasn't sure that he had made up his mind yet. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/8306816/Favre:-I-don't-feel-welcome-in-Green-Bay
  6. If that is true, Green Bay's decision makes perfect sense. But in the back of my mind the Packers were minutes away from a Super Bowl. Bringing Brett back gives them a great chance to win the Super Bowl. And isn't that what every organization should be about?
  7. He'll come back to the Packers or stay retired still IMO. Everyone is saying how this is a bad situation for the Packers to be in, but they really do have all the leverage in this. So the Packers don't have to give him his release? I don't see him going to Tampa or Baltimore. I don't think Brett just wants to play, he wants to win a championship. Minnesota is the best option.
  8. Up until yesterday he had the best ERA on the team
  9. Did their 1B coach scream just as Lee was catching that pop up?
  10. Yeah, how dare he expect Marmol to throw 35 pitches in the last week! His arm is going to fall off throwing so many pitches!!! But he has to warm up. That is more pitches. When a pitcher is throwing poorly because of overuse, you don't use him more. Plus, he has been in during huge leads. Just unacceptable.
  11. This hurts them too because they aren't getting their work. I hope the reporters nail him on this. Part me of wants to see Marmol give up a homerun just to spite Lou. All that talk about getting Marmol rest is BS.
  12. I am just as mad at Lou right now as I have ever been with Baker. Lou bats Zambrano, then takes him out. Lou uses an overused Marmol four straight games, the last two with huge leads. The pen has plenty of fresh arms. Lou, just because you are managing against Baker doesn't mean you don't have to manage like him. Man I am so mad at him.
  13. I thought he had a great interview last night. He is a humble guy. He said the reason that is is hitting better is that he is swinging harder, he is being more aggressive at the plate. I wouldn't ever throw him a fastball.
  14. From what I heard on the radio today, Hendry did have access to Harden's medical records, but he was not looked at by Cubs' doctors beforehand. He said he trusted the A's medical staff. With Harden's velocity coming down lately (which happens in the course of a season) and Beane's desire to trade Harden rather quickly and with his team still in the race, this is reason for a little concern. But Harden still has to pass his physical in Chicago for the trade to be formalized right?
  15. He has the best ERA on the team
  16. Shutdown lefty reliever is really the only weakness.
  17. Isn't it a little early for that? On paper it's a good trade, but Harden could get hurt tomorrow. Or on August 1, one day after the trade deadline.
  18. Harden injury insurance in Iowa. Let Hill's return bump Marquis from the rotation. As of now, Marshall is better than Hill.
  19. They weren't too concerned because of his injury history. He has been just as hurt as Sheets.
  20. What to do with Marshall? Get rid of Marquis and have Marshall as the number 5 guy?
