  1. I thought Fukodome had speed
  2. What do you think of the Vandemeer trade? Yeah, the Hawks might not have been able to sign him next year for the 2-3 million a year he might want, but getting a fourth line player in return isn't better than keeping Vandemeer for the year.
  3. I always thought that Boras did get his requisite 5% of the new ARod deal?
  4. I am really suprised that Sammy was smart enough to stay safe so far
  5. They excluded him so far, but he'll get in sometime don't you think?
  6. Does the report say exactly what kind of performance enhancing drugs were used? HGH or anabolic or another kind?
  7. The Cubs did offer Prior an incentive-laden contract for 08 and an option for 09 right? If so, when was it offered?
  8. Do you want to win, or do you want to have a happy clubhouse? Winning makes a happy clubhouse. I think keeping Prior would have increased the Cubs' chances of winning.
  9. Arm He swings like Ichiro. He seems to lunge at the ball. But he hit a homerun off a guy who looks like a right-handed version of Billy Wagner.
  10. Wow this thread sure has a lot of browsers. I heard he has a canon for an arm. Is that true? How fast is he?
  11. Gotcha. What happens if there is a major penalty?
  12. I don't know too much about hockey, but I thought if a team has a one man advantage due to a penalty, once the advantaged team scores a goal, the power play is over. The Hawks had a two-man advantage, scored, but still had the two-man advantage afterward. Are there different rules for a two-man?
  13. Ramage was found guilty a few weeks ago and could face 14 years in jail. He could lose his right to live or work in the US. I don't think anyone else was killed though.
  14. Do we know if the Blackhawks approached McDonough or if McDonough approached them
  15. I hope it does because Boras is not good for baseball or his clients
  16. Palmiero can't be charged because he failed the test after he testified. But I wonder if it can be figured out that Palmiero had to be on them for a few weeks prior for it to show up on a later test. So I guess Bonds did fail a test associated with the criminal investigation. I wonder what they found. I have to remind myself that HGH while illegal to take now, is not tested for. Bonds can't get busted for taking that. When were anabolic steroids made illegal in the MLB? He could have taken anabolic steroids up until they were illegal and then taken HGH after that. So Bonds could have taken this stuff, but worked it out so that he can't be punished. If he is found guilty for perjury, I don't know if they can take his records away because what he did was not illegal per se from the MLB's perspective.
  17. Bonds hasn't failed any steroid tests that I know of. This indictment is about his testimony before the grand jury. The Feds know when they raided BALCO that Bonds was on steroids because of all of the data they found there. Plus, there is plenty of corroborating evidence. Bonds says he didn't knowingly take any which seems to be a lie. Bonds was given immunity from prosecution after the testimony, except if he would up committing perjury. Bonds is not in trouble for taking them, but for saying that he didn't take them when he knew he did. HGH wasn't the only steroid Bonds was on. He was on anabolic steroids (see the wiki page on "Game of Shadows") previous to HGH. HGH is not undetectable. It's just that blood test used to detect is is not allowed by the MLB for a number of reasons and the test is not as accurate as the MLB would like.
  18. The asterisks in the indictment are not trying to cover up anything, but are meaning to heighten the points where Bonds supposedly perjured himself right?
  19. Lester Munson said that if convicted, Bonds would likely get a year
  20. Did Palmiero testify before a grand jury? But isn't it illegal to lie to Congress? Was this indictment unexpected?
  21. Any word on when Havlat will be back?
  22. If Crede's back wasn't hurt, there is no way Williams would have wanted to trade him, especially after his success in the World Series. He is young, could hit for power and average, and has Gold Glove potential. Yet I have heard that the Yankees are floating a Damon for Crede trade. Kenny signed Konerko after the 2005 championship season. The only time he could have traded him was during their WS run and that wouldn't have gone over well. Contreras CANNOT be traded for a prospect. He has 30 million coming over the next three years. He is old and just doesn't have it anymore.
  23. Nobody wants Contreras and his contract. It's hard to trade an injured Crede. Dye was hurt late last year which made him untradeable. You don't trade Konerko because he has a relatively cheap contract and he can still play. He can still help you win a WS. Buehrle can still win you games. He gave them a hometown discount and he is is still young. Garland had a terrible year and his trade value wasn't much. It's hard to totally clean house and bring it decent talent in today's market. The problem is that they don't have young talent coming up.
