  1. It has nothing to do with who I think is better, Johnson is better. I also understand that Hoffpauir has no upside. I just think that adding guys like Johnson would just be treading water, if that is the case I would just as soon just hide all the pretenses of being a WS contender and get serious about player development. Its kind of a get worse to get better thing. What does playing a 31 year old Micah Hoffpauir have to do with player development? Nothing, but the Cubs are already paying him. Might as well invest whatever money you save on Johnson into player development. Spending all your payroll on player development and running the '03 Tigers out there is a sure way to lose money and piss off fans. You get the added side effect of burning a pre-arb year on prospects who aren't ready for the majors, possibly stunting their development along the way. Obviously it's not a problem with Hoffpauir, who gives a [expletive] about him, but this seems to be the strategy you and others are espousing. It's not like Nick Johnson is going to get a big contract, if they go out and sign Overbay to a 3 year deal, there's the issue, signing a stop-gap low-risk, high reward guy for a year isn't a problem.

  3. Nick Johnson is only a year and a half older than Hoffpauir and he doesn't suck.
  4. The mock draft is ok, but the site isn't comfortable.
  5. $30,000 is below the league minimum and herds of goats aren't legal tender.
  6. You know, you guys did shoot pretty damn good from 3 too.
  7. I'll hang up and listen to your response
  8. How is signing Nick Johnson to a 1 year deal not getting rid of deadweight and doing a complete rebuild? Will you not be satisfied until Micah Hoffpauir OPSes 450 from 1B all season. This is [expletive] ridiculous.
  9. If Mississippi State is going to start turning in every kid getting paid in the SEC, they're not going to have any time to play football. Or any opponents.
  10. If we add a middling starting pitcher I'm gonna be erik316 in a game thread mad

  14. What is Tennessee playing Northwestern or something?
  15. Auditioning for the NY Post?
  16. Ok, I changed my mind, blind Viking fan love is way funnier than blind Packer fan hatred.
  17. They're backup centers being compared to the likes of Omer Asik and Kurt Thomas's decayed corpse. Yes except one of the O'Neal's are actually starting until Perkins gets back. And who knows how he'll be. If he's healthy come playoff time that's all that matters. How long do you think it'll take him to recover?

  19. I'd prefer the "Mizzou gets top recruit; doesn't qualify" storyline again. And to think I didn't say anything when UMFan started talking about highly ranked recruiting classes that ultimately didn't win a thing. Wouldn't we have needed to have a top 5 class at some point for that to be relevant?
  20. That's why he can't grow facial hair.
  21. MICHAEL WOULDN'T DO THAT!!!!!!
  22. I'd prefer the "Mizzou gets top recruit; doesn't qualify" storyline again.
  23. Shut up snood, play your role as the villain.
  24. Man, Mick Foley looks like [expletive].
