  1. Wasn't Joe Maddon's dad a plumber? Yeah. You guys are thinking of Dusty Rhodes
  2. This sounds so Derwood-like Says the guy currently rocking a Dan Pasqua jersey
  3. The politics have changed without their owners buddy in the commissioners office but the White Sox hosted for the Marlins in 04 when they were hurricaned out and are on the road this weekend(and obviously not a far trek for Milwaukee.) If Selig was still in charge this setup would be getting a lot more questions
  4. As recently as a few weeks ago, Texas vs. Houston was moved to Tampa. Because a hurricane hit Texas. The Rangers stadium was fine, and the Rangers offered as much. The Astros wanted it count as their road game and have the Rangers come to Houston late in the year when they were scheduled as home. They split the baby and left the state
  5. horsefeathers Monday home openers forever
  6. Why would it be annoying? The polls mean nothing. (Yes UMFan is ripping on caring about power rankings. It's been that kind of weekend) Mildly annoying on top of the major annoyance that polls exist. I also don't believe for a second that the playoff committee ignores polls like they claim Penn St will make the playoff with 1 loss and a Big Ten Title, they won't without, the polls won't matter
  7. No, that team was a bunch of do nothing losers
  8. I honestly don't think either makes the WS and think at least one loses in the DS. Well that's what the odds say
  9. True, but NL before AL. Would be funny if our decent but not great season (with respect to expectations) allowed us to snag this randomly good reliever that was put on irrevocable waivers. But if you look at the standings currently the only teams I could see claiming him over the Cubs are the Brewers and Cardinals. I guess it's possible the Brewers pass on him because they are cheap and the Cardinals pass on him because they really did put up a white flag trading Leake, but more than likely one of those 2 teams will take them, even if only to keep him from the Cubs. Also the Marlins I guess could claim him but they are owned by cheap ass Loria and in the middle of an ownership change so not sure if they add that much salary. An enterprising non-contender with wiggle room could claim him and flip him for a couple bucks. Problem is they'd have to do it all in a 24 hour period.
  10. The posting history is documented proof of the dangers of tackle football. No further comment necessary. Wait so it's q.e.d. that high school football should be abolished? Ok guys I must have cte. You have a forum here full of this weird groupthink. I'm not sure if you are stupid or insecure in that you take an extreme opinion like football should be outlawed, Star Wars is important for adult males or game of thrones integrity matters, easy and apparently incontrovertible. The stronger you hold these thoughts and write them out and read them you reinforce them in some application of dual code theory. And the more you focus on the secret parentage of a game of thrones character or a new trailer for Star Wars and that football needs to be destroyed the more you can armor your psychological resilience and having never satisfied a woman resonates somewhat less. Well I had sex with your wife.
  11. I'd forgotten how hilarious it is watching Don Zimmer get swatted aside by Pedro.
  12. Plus Grace gets plunked. They missed him. That and Thom being alive brings the clip down a bit.
  13. If I could have whatever I wanted I'd probably choose to play baseball too
  14. That Cubs Pirates brawl is fantastic just for all the random mid 90s Cubs that make an appearance.
  15. One of our drills was Pop Pop and Pop(an offshoot from the original Pop Pop and Drop, where Drop was to tackle each other). You'd run from 10 yards apart and crash helmets. 3 times.
  16. But all you gotta do is watch them hit to know they do strike out alot... I knew Springer was having a great year but didn't realize how much his K rate had improved. It's down to 19.2%
  17. I'd have thrown him out there for the 11th if he still had it and the Dodgers took the lead. Pitch count was at 95 through 9, and, the Dodgers can afford to give him extra rest aplenty over teh next month+ Yeah but HIll has been fairly injury prone lately, is it really worth it? He missed a month for a blister issue in April-May.

  19. Well then, didn't see that coming. I'm pretty annoyed it took the Brooklyn pick in light of the bags of magic beans that Butler, George, and Paul were acquired for. He's obviously better than those 3, but I think Ainge let Cleveland bluff that they didn't have to dump him.
  20. How bad does your team suck when your announcer has a signature call for losing Sadly, he's probably gonna get voted into the HOF - more for longevity than actually being a good announcer. They do a Frick Award every year, anyone who announces for 20 years will wind up getting in. He is pretty old though.
  21. How have I never seen that CF getting hit in the face before?
  22. The only good Cardinal is a dead Cardinal. So apparently the Cardinals are my 2nd favorite team.
