  1. It wasn't like Syracuse was 1-0 against UConn, it was their 3rd try against them. I'd give No. Iowa an even money chance at 1 win if they had 3 tries against UConn. I feel like Sully over the past week or so when people continue to crap on the Valley saying all they do is beat up on each other to earn high RPIs. I can't imagine the uproar if Bradley went into Depaul and lost to them by 39.(Bradley beat them on the road by 15 before Bradley got hot) I absolutely cannot wait for a couple Valley or CAA(Who I think is overrated) wins in the tourney, and I hope Gary Williams (We'll schedule 3 neutral games against Missouri St. next year then, ((Yeah and you'll lose all 3))) is watching and I hope Jim Nantz is on the call. If you're going to worship at the throne of the RPI for the past 20 years, don't turn your back on it when for once it doesn't fit your preconceived notions. What the hell is the point of having these systems if you're just going to throw it out when it doesn't match what you already thought. Just because the school's name sounds different and hasn't been to a lot of tourneys before doesn't mean they don't belong. People were saying the same thing about Gonzaga 8 years ago, I just hope it doesn't take the legit teams from the Valley another 8 years to gain any sort of acceptance. People bitch and moan about these teams not playing anybody. They're not playing anybody because nobody wants to play them!! The coachs like Williams can say whatever they want about them knowing they're better than those teams. They flat out don't know that and that's why they won't play them in anything but a home game, and even those are rare. Cause what happens if one of those Valley teams that "doesn't play anybody" got the chance to "play somebody" What happens if they won?? Then your little cult of big time coaches are gonna see one of their guaranteed payoffs in a tourney slot get taken away by a small school and we certainly can't have that. So you migh as well keep scheduling Elon for home and homes, you know they don't stand a chance, and if they manage to pull off a miracle, hey it was just a fluke anyways, we all know those little schools can't hang. When's the last time Missouri St. won anything? EDIT: Move to rants if you deem necessary moderators, I don't know if this really counts as on topic. Wasn't supposed to be more than a 2 sentence reply.
  2. I don't think Iowa deserves it over U of I, but it's close enough that I could see it happening, which is why I'm rooting hardcore for MSU here. That and MSU winning the tourney won't make our loss look as bad. If we get lower than a 3, I'm gonna be pretty outraged. There are not 12 teams out there that deserve a spot above us.
  3. WHOO!! No Maryland!!
  4. Lemme just say if the scenario plays out the way you're talking about it, I'd love it Tiger. (UT/UI fighting for the last 2 seed) With that presumably the loser of the 2 seed would get the 3 seed in the same bracket. As long as Tennessee is the team we're matched up with in our half of the bracket I'll be a very happy panda. They're just not very good.
  5. I'm not a fan of shortening the season at all. Baseball more than any other sport is based on statistics and records. Having a 150 game season every 4 years just doesn't fly with me. I'd be more in favor of moving the start date of the season back a couple weeks and extending the playoffs by a week than shortening the season itself.
  6. I like that stance as it would be really unfair to a guy like Matt Holliday who left his team, and put in all the time only to barely play the past few games. On the other hand it's Matt Holliday vs. Barry Bonds.
  7. 5 years, 13 million. For a guy that hit .292/.366/.520 with 24 homers last year as a SS? Wow. They didn't buy out any of his free agency years. He may have made a bit more if he kept hitting at that rate throughout his indentured servitude, but it's not that big of a bargain. If Peralta keeps up that line, he might've made 13M in 2010 alone.
  8. Don't look at me, I wrote off Tennessee and Gonzaga months ago.
  9. Go Indiana. Can't even truly root for them enough to put a !
  10. Can't say you didn't see the NC St. game coming Bukie. *tips hat*
  11. Think that loss woke them up?? How in the hell did Canada almost lose to South Africa??
  12. The refs just let Dials do whatever the hell he wants in the lane. It's why I never support moving the 3 point line back in college, cause the last thing the college game needs more of is dumping the ball down low to some overweight slug who pushes people around and hits a 3 footer. You want that? Go watch the NBA.
  13. I guess Travis Barker never heard of boost mobile.
  14. Can anyone convince me that the 3 Big East teams are better than the Valley teams?
  15. I think the problem people have with Team A is they don't believe the RPI to be legitamate(mostly because it puts Team A as #19) I do wholeheartedly agree with you though, and wish I analyzed Team B a little bit further.
  16. Looks like an incredible deal......but so did the Berroa deal. I'm wagering this turns out better.
  17. I was really hoping maybe WCIU would have this, but nope.
  18. It happened in a Brewers game against the A's. WHOOSH
  19. I'd say Drake and Indiana St. are both about equal to the bottom 4 of the Big East. Evansville and ISU are more on South Florida's level.
  20. I'll open the conversation for starters asking for somebody to make the case for Albany Charlotte Delaware St. Kent St. Louisville Pacific Southern
  21. I hate how now a deserving Valley team who played a tough out of conference schedule will probably get left out because Syracuse, who plays no road games every year in the preconference finally decided to start playing. What about having the 6th toughest schedule in the country or playing the top 2 teams in the nation 5 times and maybe 6 if they go on to play Villanova? Plus, how did they just start playing and have 21 wins? And if anyone thinks UConn didn't care you are very wrong. They hate losing to us with a passion and think they own the BE. People look at one of those Valley teams if they play 3 teams in the top 25 they get all kinds of praise for playing a tough schedule but Syracuse plays 1/3 of thier games against top 25 teams and gets criticized for playing teams outside the conference in the Dome? I could also see it if the Valley teams had 1-6 lossses but they have even more playing in an average to slightly better than average conference with easy games in the bottom half which the BE, other than SFlor, doesn't have. Rutgers, St. John's, Providence, and DePaul are all worse than the top 6 in the Valley.
  22. We should get rid of the WBC.
