  1. Or because I was rooting for the Big 10, and Iowa blowing an 18 point lead with 8 minutes left made us all look like jackasses.
  2. Agreed. He pitched to just one batter in the game against the US and just one other inning the entire WBC. There was something wrong with his arm and his time in the WBC had nothing to do with it. Speculation. The fact is, he incurred the injury playing in the WBC. Nobody can say what would have happened if he was pitching warm-up innings in Spring Training as opposed to going full-bore in the WBC. He may have had better supervision in Spring Training too---which may well helped lessen the severity of the injury. Or maybe not. Impossible to say, but he got injured playing in the WBC so it's a WBC injury. It's also speculation to say he wouldn't have died on the field if he was in ST. Dumb speculation, but speculation nonetheless. The Nats are covering their ass since they overworked him last year, and now they can just avoid all blame and push it on the WBC.
  3. Horrible start at 21-11 losing 4 sweet 16(Cuse, Iowa) 2 Elite 8(Marquette, MSU) Today: GW Gonzaga Florida BC Wichita St. Illinois
  4. I suppose you probably should when we've owned you guys for 3 years now with 4 straight wins. Must be rough when you're a fan of a one-sport school and you get dominated in the one sport you're supposed to be successful in. Other than that I have no idea why you would hate Iowa. Honestly what is there to hate about us? It's not like we've been a longtime rival or been a threat to your success for a long time. We don't cheat and I don't think we had any players this year that give other teams a reason to dislike us. I can't stand Illinois (mostly because of their fans) and I'm not a big fan of Weber, but I'm pulling for them in the tournament this year. I don't necessarily like Dee Brown and James Augustine, but I can respect them because they seem like generally good kids who have played clean and been great competitors in this league for 4 years. Pretty much everyone in that group is someone I would like to have on our side. I can't imagine anyone in our league looking at Brunner, Horner, Haluska, Hansen, Thomas, Hansen or Henderson and dislike them for any reason other than being successful or not want them on their team. I hate Brunner for blowing the free throw and rebound yesterday. I don't like you guys due to rivalry, but I sure as hell was pulling for you yesterday, and just for my bracket.
  5. I have yet to pick a 1, 2, or 3 to lose. Probably won't ever happen either. I believe I picked a 4-13 upset one time and it didn't come even close to happening. I usually stick to prying 5-12s and 6-11s (the latter turned out to be my specialty as I went 4-0 in those games; however I went 1-3 in 5-12s, I always struggle with them). However, I appreciate the help getting Pitt into the Sweet 16, Bradley. Just don't screw it up by actually beating them. :-P \ No guts. Winthrop this year was my first 15 ever, I've been on their bandwagon since about February. And Tennessee was ridiculous as a 2. Picked Bucknell last year. I did go a little overboard in my NSBB bracket with Murray St. over UNC, but even in my money bracket I had Winthrop, Iona, and Bradley. My proudest moment in my brackets was nailing Kent St. to the elite 8 in '02.
  6. I drafted him first round in my Dynasty league this year...OH YEA BABY. That seems absurdly early. Unless I'm confused and it was a prospect only draft.
  7. When the model is Sidney Ponson, it's gonna be a struggle no matter who designed them.
  8. Pretty hot too.
  9. If you told me Dee and Augustine both would be held to single digits, I'd assume we lost. Encouraging in some ways, disappointing in others. Still way too close of a game, especially considering that excellent free throw shooting is not gonna hold up.
  10. Started 4-0 then Winthrop, Nevada, and Marquette failed me. Can't believe Novak missed that game tying 3. Had Marquette to the elite 8 too, so I'm hurting.
  11. 3-0 start with Winthrop(Picked 2 seconds after the pairing came out), Florida, Nevada, and Marquette winning in these next games.
  12. Is Windows Media Player 9 or higher installed?
  13. Sound finally on for Wichita.
  14. are you getting sound? ...none here getting sound for bc-pacific but not for WS-SH actually Same here.
  15. The online broadcast is about 2 seconds behind live. Hard to complaina bout though.
  16. So I have to go to my first board meeting tonight as a manager at my pool for the summer. Timed just perfectly to help me miss much of the U of I game.
  17. Cuse is that you??
  18. Once again you've nailed it.
  19. Couldn't make our auctino pool this year, so just had my friend bid a few low seed teams up to the max I set. All I wound up with was Oral Roberts for 75 cents and Winthrop for 2 bucks. I was shooting for Bradley, Murray St., and Iona as well but they went higher than the max I set. I found out later NW St. went for 75 cents which is just insanely low. (For those who have no clue what I'm talking about: Every team in the tourney goes up for auction. That's what that team's loss will be worth to the team that beats them. Let's say Memphis beats Oral Roberts, the guy who owns Memphis gets 75 cents adn moves on. Should Memphis win their 2nd roudn game they win whatever the team tehy played went for, and so on until they're eliminated, where the money spent on Memphis goes to whoever beat them. Last year I cleaned up on lower seeds buying Bucknell for 75 cents who beat Kansas that went for 18. I also bought UW-Milwaukee at a ridiculously high 8.75(I was the joke of the night) but made a solid 15 bucks or so on their sweet 16 run. High seeds other than UNC(31.50) killed me though, so it's probably best that I wasn't there this year.
  20. I rode Bucknell last year and made 18 bucks off their game with Kansas. It's tempting fate to do it twice. Same reason I can't have UW-Milwaukee beat a Florida team that I have 0 respect for.
  21. FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON II
  22. 4 years is many?? Is there anything different about this year's Cardinals management and their approach to the game compared to 2001?
  23. Texas, Memphis, UConn, Ohio St. Final 4 GW, Marquette, Villanova, and Michigan St. join the Elite 8. Yeah, there's no way GW does that, but man I hate Duke.
  24. Well it could be argued that the Cards wasted 32 starts from Mulder last year by acquiring him in the first place rather than keeping Haren. Bud Smith, Travis Smith, and Stephenson certainly wasted 10 starts apiece in '02. Andy Benes did a fabulous job putting up a 7.38 ERA in 19 starts in '01. I'm wagering somebody (like me for instance) could've bested Jose Jimenez's 5.85 ERA in '99.
  25. It's hard to say that, right now. He's not quite 25 years old yet, and he's shown steady progress in his minor league career. If he was an average defensive outfielder right now (something he's never worked on), he'd probably be headed for a spot on the 25-man roster right now. If he impresses offensively at Memphis, and if he can learn to play an adequate outfield, then he's got a chance. It's not a GREAT chance, but it's a chance, nontheless. He's certainly not going to be worse than So Taguchi or John Rodriguez, offensively. Say something negative about the Cardinals. Once.
