  1. Care to share what you wrote? I can't remember...its one of those things where a window pops up. I said something about, you're entitled to your opinion, but if you cannot articulate why you feel that way, then you should chose another subject. I think I closed with "the point of your article is to make Cuban sound like an idiot, but instead you just make yourself sound like an idiot" That might explain the brief response. I did an interview with Imrem for a journalism assignment my sophomore year. He was very accommodating. (Bruce was out of town) But yeah, the article was rather substance free. I just wouldn't call him an idiot.
  2. Why wouldn't they just intentionally walk him? Or is it the story of a boy tragically killed shortly after crossing the plate for a HR in his first ever AB? Kinda dark for a children's book.
  3. woah, lets not get ahead of ourselves. That's not too far fetched. If the Cubs managed to get Roberts and trade for a decent SS (Khalil Greene, maybe?), I think they would be the best team in the NL. Of course, those things would have to happen, but only one of them would make the Cubs the best team in the Central. Of course, that's not saying much. Right now I think you are fooling yourself saying that the Cubs are the best team in the NL central. The Brewers and Cubs are still neck and neck. This is still a weak division so I think it takes more than an average SS to move from tied for best team in the central to best team in the NL. He said one of a decent SS or Roberts would make us the best in the Central, which implies that the Cubs and Brew are neck and neck right now. And why 2 Ns on BTF?
  4. He's been rumored to Colorado. (HAHAHHAAHA)
  5. Few are Ichiro good. Much more accurate than Sosa's. Whew, good to know we won't have to worry about more throws from RF to the backstop. I still wake up in cold sweats from nightmares produced by Alou and Sosa in the OF... The Cubs will have plus arms at all three OF positions. That will make a huge difference. Instead of fearing Soriano's arm, teams will have to fear them all. All with plus range as well. This is a very very good defensive OF. Unless Murton swings a good bat while Pie fails to... Moving Fuku to CF & Murton to RF. Very possible. I think Matt's on his way to Baltimore. DeRosa will be the new backup plan if Pie falters.

  7. If 4/50 that's about 3M cheaper than I thought we'd get him for. Glad I didn't buy the Murton jersey in September :(
  8. 2/10 option for 11.
  9. But that's not true. Theriot was the definition of suck in September and he started 25 out of 28 games(not including scrub game 162.
  10. ST #s last year: Theriot: 347 .405 .520 Cedeno: 328 .427 .516 Spring Training can be very misleading. It's a small sample size, players are just getting back into the swing of things again, and they're playing against varying skills of pitchers.
  11. Felix Pie. I don't even know what this is supposed to mean. His situation is analogous to Cedeno's, only with far fewer chances to prove himself at the MLB level. He obliterated AAA as a 22 year old, yet people want to ship him out for very little return. I don't think people want to ship out for very little. The smallest return I've seen for Pie is Khlail Greene and how small that return is viewed is based on the huge fluctuation of opinions on the value of Greene.(This is where Meph responds, "My opinion and the wrong opinions")
  12. Felix Pie. I don't even know what this is supposed to mean.
  13. Oh, Ronny's totally gone. I don't know why I waste the time getting frustrated over it.
  14. They don't have new ones, but FWIW their 2008 projections in the 5-year forecast are as follows... If I'm understanding you correctly, that would not have '07s #s factored in?
  15. I preemptively made my argument, and then was still ignored. If Cedeno was never brought up to the majors in '06 and instead played in AAA all year, the Cedeno haters would be all for bringing him up to take the job. Instead he was playing at a level he shouldn't have been at and is cast to hell for the rest of his life because of it. If Ryan Theriot was playing in the majors at the age of 22-23, he would be historically bad. Because he wasn't in the majors at the time, you don't have the 450 OPS he would've put up to point to and say we can never play him again. It's been 2 years since '06. Let it go. Guys have bad years. When there's an explanation behind it, say being way over your head cause you're not ready to be in the big leagues yet, you probably shouldn't use that and only that to weight what to expect out of Cedeno.
  16. The idea of Ronny Cedeno is always met with such shock and dismissal(none in this thread, but just saying) that I feel the need to go over it again. At Ronny's current age, Theriot was still in the minors. Ronny was rushed to the majors before he was ready, and tore up the minors in '05 and '07. He was beyond terrible in '06. We all recognize this. He was also 22 years old. Ronny's minor league numbers project him to be a better player than Theriot next year, and a much better player down the line. It should be his spot to lose.
  17. Hmmm.... Irony Well, actually, I'm not sure it's the Astros, but yea. Yeah that was awesome.
  18. There's always a buyout. I remember this.
  19. Whoever voted Bowden needs to look at what he's done over the past year and a half. Yeah the Cristian Guzman and Vinny Castilla deals were mind-numbing, but he's been pretty damn respectable since the Nats stopped being orphaned. Attribute that however you want, but he (sadly) doesn't belong in the conversation with these other idiots.
  20. I hope JoePa lasts 2 more years so he can have the record. I hate that old criminal loving hick.
  21. cuban could finance snuff films starring my friends and i'd still be cool with his buying the cubs But not starring you? Way to take one for the team Tree.
  22. By then they will have unloaded Rolen and Edmonds. They found a way to pay Pujols and Carpenter, I'd bet they'd find a way to pay Bedard. Neither of those players hit the open market. Unless Bedard's lying, he'll get to free agency, and there's no way the Cards retain him in that case. If I had to play for the Orioles, I'd tell everyone who'd listen that I was going to become a FA too. It's a negotiating ploy, and means little to me.
