  1. Miami's good. not miami, miami...miami of ohio. i just hope the illini can win @ purdue on jan. 19th....my girlfriend and i are making the trip up to w. lafeyette and she is a big purdue fan...i don't want to imagine how much bull i'll have to take on the car ride home if the illini lose. Miami(OH) would beat Miami(Homicide) by about 20 points.
  2. Only when the woman dies to her good Christian death will I believe she wasn't a witch.
  3. So we just lost to Miami. I'm starting to believe there's a chance we lose to Mizzou :(
  4. Fick didn't get horrendously bad until recently. He was quite useful in Detroit.
  5. This is a bad contract. Dayton Moore is not living up to the hype lately.
  6. Games start tomorrow night. Last chance.
  7. They are talking about middle infield on Sports Central. Kaplan is saying that the Cubs have already told Theriot that he is their guy at SS on opening day. I don't think DeRosa is going to play SS. How have the Cubs not realized Theriot sucks? Nope, the conversation went something like ......Theriot is the Cubs guy and now that he knows he will be the everyday player, he will be in better shape coming into Spring Training next year. Apparently, the Cubs think he wore himself out last year. Then the Cubs are idiots.
  8. Murton's trade value is minimal. The Cubs feel Patterson has minimal value. I like Gallagher a lot, but I could live with this deal. I'd be really pissed if I was Murton and got traded to Baltimore and remained a platoon player. Lou has to have an open mind about DeRosa at SS if this trade goes through.
  9. I vaguely remember cubs.com before the overhaul, don't think I went to the message boards. I think I had the same name on the mlb.com era Cubs board. Hmmm, I was probably briefly The Frontman.
  10. How bout this, in most situations(barring something like a late inning, close game situation), I'd rather my hitter be up there trying to get on base for himself rather than sacrificing himself to get the runner in or over. I'd rather have good contact and strikeouts than weak contact. If you have to sacrifice some contact to have a better likelihood of getting a hit on the contact you make then you take it.
  11. Jake needs some happiness in his baseball life.
  12. Assuming Piniella manages out his contract, and there's no disaster scenario with the team, I'd say Trammell has the inside edge, then Ryno, then Jody. A lot of this depends on where the team is in a success cycle.
  13. I'm personally still a big Pie fan, and don't want him dealt unless we get something big in return. TT's been driving his bandwagon since Felix was in A ball. I don't think anyone's really falling in love with Sam Fuld. Hendry was pretty widely mocked around here for declaring Fuld as untouchable.
  14. Sure you're not recallin Adam Everett? Cabrera is good defensively, I don't recall him rating out as great. EDIT: And now I see Cabrera wasn't even good last year.
  15. :-k If he'd quit standing next to Sean Marshall in the team photo... If he started standing next to Fontenot he'd look about 7'4"
  16. I just kinda assume that most people who've never been in college while the site's been in existence are in their mid 30s.
  17. Was just coming to post this. Yipes.
  18. Little known fact, we had back to back lefties ALL FREAKIN YEAR LONG LAST YEAR. How'd that work out for us? Why do you think we lost games 2 and 3?
  19. Fred still didn't fit in.
  20. If he woulda showed some loyalty to the Cubs, the Astros contract offer would be highly illegal.
  21. Man, I'd love to get him without giving up Hill. That would be a nasty rotation 1-4. Left handed heavy, but yes, it would be dominating. My concern is it would be nice to go back and forth. So you'd have to have Z not start the opener. So if this did happen, you'd go LRLRL Bedard Z Lilly Marquis Hill Who's starting in between Hill and Bedard? I hate this "reasoning" that you can't have back to back lefties in the rotation. Yes there are more righties than lefties in any given batting order. Don't you think these guys have been facing these same batting orders their whole careers? In the same way, I see no reason with the obsession of having a lefty in the rotation or a lefty in the batting lineup. 8 best hitters, 5 best pitchers, let em throw and hit with whatever they want as long as they do it well.
  22. Isn't that exactly what Sosa said and Rick Reilly called him on it? Rick Reily's an ass and for Sosa to pee in a cup would have killed the player's union. Of all the misplaced anger at Sosa over stupid issues, the "he didn't pee in a cup when prompted to by a douchebag guy pretending to be a journalist" might be my most hated.
  23. Patterson was better than good in '03 and was good in '04.
  24. Friends at USC?? On a related note, are you just not going to bother watching the Rose Bowl?
  25. Or know something about Bedard. Didn't the Cubs have a problem with the O's before regarding an injured player in the Sosa deal? Dave Crouthers retired before he threw a pitch for the Cubs. I dont' remember if it was injury related or what, but I don't think the Cubs really cared much.
