  1. Heck, some players get 6 years. Jon Beutjer got about 9. Luke Recker like 14. Re: WVU: That doesn't even seem legal.
  2. Illinois failed to break 60 points against Western Carolina. #-o Western Carolina failed to break 40 points against Illinois \:D/ Let's just go all the way and go Princeton style. We might be able to hold Iowa to about 6 points that way.
  3. why would he feel any obligation not to go to the team he feels he fits best? why is it classless to go elsewhere in the division? It's a slap in the face to the Cubs fans that idolized him. You know the people that paid for the tickets, bought his jersey, etc. The city of Chicago and Cubs fans made him rich - and we've been waiting (and paying) for a long time for him to get healthy. If he wanted to repay a little bit of what he's been given by all of us he could have taken a two-year incentive laden deal. How about a little loyalty? If he comes back in the 2nd half of 08 pitching for another team in the same division it only magnifies things. Take your smug expressions and get out of town Mark. Things Mark Prior has given Cubs fans and management 657 IP 757 Ks, 223 BBs, 3.51 ERA, 1.225 WHIP 123 ERA+ Going out and pitching through pain for what appears to have been the majority of his Cubs career. Did I miss something? When did Prior pitch through pain? Seems to me he shut it down at the first sign of any pain. Nice try, though. Little known fact that Mark forgot how to pitch in 2006.
  4. Twas a good summary Wilco, but I think you're misunderstanding some of the Pro-Prior crowd. I know I personally am not shedding tears for Mark because he won't be a Cub anymore. It does suck for him that he's had to deal with the injuries, but it happens. What most of us are trying to argue against is an irrational hatred of the man, which I still cannot for the life of me figure out.
  5. Except, of course, the only time Prior hasn't performed well is when he's been hurt. Do people still think Prior should have been pitching through pain this whole time after what he looked like in '06, and after their admitting that he had "serious shoulder surgery"?? It just doesn't add up to me.

Some of the things Cubs fans and management have given Mark Prior Hilarious towel jokes Hilarious vagina jokes Hilarious ten cent head jokes Shameless abuse of his arm Scapegoating for the loss in '03 Insinuations of being a headcase Insinuations of being soft(not the word often used, but that one wouldn't pass the filter) Insinuations of being on steroids Insinuations of being a cocky, spoiled jerk Loyalty indeed.
  7. If Prior was a real man, he'd go play in the independent leagues to prove he just plays for the love of the game. And then he'd donate all his paychecks to orphans. Or Cubs fans. And this is awesome.
  8. I wish people could convince top talen...oh yeah. Sweet.
  9. Definitely not true. Dubois was old doing that in AAA. Geo was not. And there's the key point. It was Todd Hollandsworth that was pissing people off a lot more than a lack of Jason Dubois.
  10. Yeah it's not often a guy drops 20 pounds and is accused of taking steroids that same season.
  11. The Untouchable Sam Fuld? I hear his poop is considered currency in Argentina. That doesn't sound all that intriguing to me (the Fuld in CF for 25 games thing, not the poop money part). That part sounds VERY intriguing.
  12. Teach a man to fish.
  13. They can have Felix Patterson as far as I'm concerned. He needs to be traded before teams start figuring out that he's lost against major league pitching. He's supposed to be this burner on the paths and he steals bases at like a 55% clip. I don't think he's got much of a baseball IQ and I'm not keeping him around solely for defensive purposes. Felix Pie first 177 AB: .215/.270/.333 Alex Rodriguez first 184 AB: .223/.270/.348 Boy, I bet the Mariners are glad that they didn't give up and trade him away after the first 184 AB. But did the Mariners have a hispanic(sort of) SS prospect fail to meet expectations in the years prior??? HUH?? It's a great idea to temper enthusiasm on prospects, but so many people take this to the extreme. Every guy who puts up good numbers in the minors gets "Dubois LOL!!" Every guy who's fast with some power gets "Corey with a K!!! LOL!!!!" Every SP prospect who doesn't dazzle from day one gets "The great Juan Cruz HAHAHA" Every top prospect gets "HEE STRIKE OUT!!!!"
  14. Just a gut call, but I really don't want 3 lefties in the rotation. I'd rather have the Cubs pursue Blanton - he'd be under team control for 3 seasons. but three righties is OK? 2 righties, 2 lefties, one guy who throws with his foot.
  15. Just a gut call, but I really don't want 3 lefties in the rotation. Neither do the Cubs. I have no clue why, but that's why we won't get Bedard without giving up Hill, which would be dumb.
  16. Similarity scores take primarily(I wanna say only?) hitting into account. Also, not really relevant, but there are 5 HOFs on Ozzie's list, but only 1 (2 with Jeter, should be at least 3 with Larkin, would have to review Whitaker again) on Tram's.
  17. Chirinos is hitting 255
  18. Wow, impressive, IMB
  19. Well he is fast, black, and a CF.
  20. Eh, we're not as bad as you think. Probably about a 50/50 shot. I'd say you have a better shot at beating us next year than this year. We're going to have like 6 freshman on our roster next year. I think this is our last legit chance. We're not very good, but sometimes we look like a real basketball team. How good are your freshmen next year? Is Anderson recruiting well? Next year we're pretty much the same team as this year, only take away Randle and Pruitt. I'm pretty excited early on about Tisdale and Davis, but, things will probably be a little rough. And if we get Legion, he wouldn't be eligible til after we played you.
