  1. Yeah, I don't think a trade offer with Gavin Floyd as one of the key parts really stood much of a chance. And eff Jeff Loria.
  2. Did you forget about him getting a title that one year when that one thing happened down the left field line? Yeah, I don't understand how anyone can be a fan of Miguel Cabrera or the Marlins.
  3. Re-post from other thread http://games.espn.go.com/bowlmania/frontpage Group Name: NSBB Password: grit
  4. Didn't have time to wait for Yahoo. Guess I'll go with an ESPN confidence pick em. http://games.espn.go.com/bowlmania/frontpage Group Name: NSBB Password: grit Let's try and embarrass each other.

  6. Notre Dame will ALWAYS get an at-large BCS bid when the qualify. ALWAYS Except when they didn't after the '02 season.
  7. Jeepers...every coach is using another school to get an extension and more cash. except JoePa Yep...he pays them to coach there. He pays orphans for the right.
  8. It's a good start! I'm sure USC is also playing ND....is OSU playing any other BCS team? Jesu, Cuse you won't be satisfied until every team in the Big 10 and SEC plays top 25 teams on the road for all their noncon games. How bout you rail on those world beaters in your conference a bit.
  9. All I can say is good luck finding anything close to Pasadena. What would you recommend then? We already accept that we'll likely have to rent 2 cars. you can sleep on my couch for 150/night. I have a spare room, that'll cost you 250/night. Cereal is on the house. What kind of cereal? And are you more fun to hang out with than Raisin?
  10. I wasn't the one trumpeting the conference's performances in last year's bowls.
  11. Capuano straight up for Rolen is a good deal for the Cards. That'd be robbery.
  12. As Ohio State and Michigan found out last year, the top Big Ten teams just don't have the talent, speed or depth to play with the top teams from the SEC and PAC Ten. Although with former SEC guy Zook in charge, the Illini are starting to recruit the right kind of players. Not only is Illinois going to get blown out, the remaining Big three of the Big Ten (Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin) are going to get outclassed by three SEC teams (LSU, Florida and Tennessee) who play in a much tougher conference. LSU > Ohio State Georgia > Illinois Tennessee > Michigan (and Appalachian State) Florida > Wisconsin Arkansas > Penn State Auburn > Iowa Kentucky > Indiana Miss. State > Mich State Purdue = Alabama South Carolina = Northwestern Vanderbilt > Minesota You do realize that the Big Ten took 2 out of 3 last year from the SEC? I think they will win at least 1 this year also. Probably 2. If they were quasi home games for the Big Ten they may win all 3. You do realize that the second best team in the SEC was busy blowing out Notre Dame while the second best team in the Big Ten was getting killed by the Trojans? OSU's gonna be in real trouble when JaMarcus suits up this year.
  13. It's $135 plus fees. I'm not sure how much the Ticketmaster fees are. The cheapest I've found is StubHub and they have a few tickets at $398. Sideline tickets are going for $700 - $1000 per. Wow, that's a lot of money. What did they go for originally? $135 Yikes....I'm in the wrong business. I wonder what the hottest ticket is this bowl season. Rose is definitely the hottest ticket. It's usually the biggest of the BCS games barring some great matchup elsewhere. Additionally you've got USC who packs the place and Illinois who hasn't been there in 24 years. Flight/Hotel packages alone shot up about 50 bucks from Sunday-Monday.
  14. Hard to tell since it's new management. But the old Pirates regime certainly would be pushing him aside for Chris Duffy.
  15. I won't know for a little bit. The market on the tickets was supposed to stay open til tonight at 7, but then without explanation they took the Rose Bowl off the board. They're supposed to send a new confirmation after the markets close, and send out the tickets in a couple weeks. All I know is their upper level and probably crappy. But they are in fact Rose Bowl tickets.
  16. Is face $135?? I thought I read 175. That'd be nice. Especially if I can sell the other 2 for 400 apiece.
  17. There is plenty of room in the outfield for both Hamilton and Fukudome. And there is still potential for room in the budget for a Haren/Pie and Hill swap. Temper those expectations.
  18. We believe Jon is still a starting pitcher in the big leagues. Things would just be a lot easier if Jon was a knuckleballer.
  19. Either one of those deals. (Useless Cotts for McLouth and Marshall for Hamilton) seem too good to be true. It's a couple of our guys that the Cubs continue to take a dump on and somehow we're getting actual players for them? Incredible. What's going to be more incredible is that Hendry is gonna pass because he's only focused on Fukodome. Then when he whiffs on him, it's Shawn Green time baby.
  20. I'll make it official. 1. Babe Ruth 2. Ted Williams 3. Barry Bonds 4. Honus Wagner 5. Willie Mays 6. Hank Aaron 7. Josh Gibson 8. Cy Young 9. Lou Gehrig 10. Joe DiMaggio 11. Rickey Henderson 12. Roger "The Rocket" Clemens 13. Alex Rodriguez 14. Sandy Koufax 15. Jimmie Foxx 16. Pedro Martinez
  21. But they don't cover.
  22. During the press conference, Dan Guerrero said that he - nor anyone officially representing UCLA - has contacted any potential candidate. Turns out the LA Times was speculating when they said that members of UCLA have contacted Petersen, Mooch and Leach. We'll see what Petersen says when UCLA actually comes a knocking. I don't have delusions of grandeur but there is no doubt in my mind that UCLA football - much like USC basketball - can be a perennial top-10 team given the resources and location. Finally, this is from ESPN the day Steve Lavin was fired - I can only hope this ends the same way the Lavin firing/Howland hiring turned out: So you have a lying basketball coach with no integrity then?
