  1. That's an assumption. But him coming back and pitching 10-15 starts isn't? I think I have his past history on my side of the assumption while the other side of it is wishful thinking. There is no past history of Prior coming back from surgery.
  2. That's an assumption. An outrageous one.
  3. Adam Everett should have been out of the job even without the Tejada trade. adam everett is leaps and bounds ahead of theriot. hes an average shortstop. yes average, not bad. basically who is the taller midget? They are both utter garbage. Everett's a historically great defensive SS.
  4. huh? It's what I'd offer. I think he's asking what you're paying him. Is it 2 for 10 with a 1 bonus if he reaches his incentives? 2 Yrs 10M, Team Option for a 3rd Yr at 11M. Sounds like that might not have even got it done though :(
  5. Old Style Cub fans (pun intended) are much worse about heckling players, that's one reason why they got the name "bleacher bums". If anything, new style Cub fans are criticized for being uninvolved. Old Style fans are the absolute worst.
  6. So the Cubs wanted surgery...then get upset when Prior wants it too? Again, it doesn't add up. I'm talking the fan perspective in my previous post. I've seen it mentioned numerous times about the Cubs pushing surgery, but don't really recall reading it. That doesn't add up to me, as the Cubs' doctors supposedly found nothing wrong, all I can really remember off the top of my head is the Cubs saying it was normal wear and tear on the elbow/shoulder/whatever they were checking out.
  7. I'd maybe give up one of Gallagher, Marshall, or Hart for Figgins.
  8. So if we acquired him, we'd have to fly his wife out to Toronto 8 times a year?
  9. I can't begin to imaginge the outrage if Prior went to his own doctors, got a diagnosis and told the team he was taking the year off to get his shoulder cleaned up. Pitchforks for everyone!
  10. huh? It's what I'd offer.
  11. He's the marquee acquisition for the year, I'd bet he's there.
  12. I'd love Burnett at 1/12. Let him walk after '08 and take the picks. '10 would be the only problem with an injured Burnett as again injured Burnett > Marquis and Marquis isn't making much less than Burnett in '09. But again, this certainly is not happening.
  13. I won't boo him at all. The Cubs treated him like garbage. How? Any insinuations that he was soft either came from secondary sources or was hinted at by people like Dusty because Prior refused to tell anyone what was wrong with him. The Cubs gave him every chance and shielded him from a lot of media scrutiny. When stuff comes out from secondary sources, many of those are leaks from people within the organization. Prior was treated like garbage by a front office that never appreciated what they had, and are still living in the stone age when it comes to so many things, most notably that when a pitcher's hurt, he is hurt, and pitching through it only makes things worse. Then when the guy went ahead and pitched through the pain, he's thrown further under the bus and gets called a headcase. It's an ugly ugly divorce and it pisses me off to see just how incompetently the Cubs handled their best pitching talent since Maddux.
  14. I'm thinking Kuroda is going to be a spectacular failure.
  15. I won't boo him at all. The Cubs treated him like garbage.
  16. Ahhh, the Pirates. Huntington isn't going to be able to do anything with that team(assuming he's competent) as long as the owners won't go over a 40M payroll.
  17. Pay him to see if you can get 3-4 months of quality pitching out of him this season, and then see what you can do about resigning him next offseason. But what if you can't and you now use the money for another pitcher that can have an impact now? They aren't going to find any pitcher of any value for $3 million. No but they can use the 3 and some other cash to get one. If Prior's 3 ties them up and stops them from getting another starter plus him being on the DL it ties up their hands to make a good move. Plus, how is paying 3 for a guy to rehab all year worth anything? If Mark Prior were the money hungry chump you wish he was, wouldn't he want to show off he can still pitch for a month or 2 before entering free agency. Nobody's gonna give him a huge deal if he doesn't pitch this season.
  18. 3M for 2 months of Mark Prior is probably fair value. 3M for 3 months of Mark Prior is a steal. This is effin stupid.
  19. An injured AJ Burnett may be better than a healthy Jason Marquis.
  20. Yeah that rumor seems too ridiculous to be true. And I think Ricciardi's a pretty bad GM, but he's not that bad.
  21. Manager Lou Piniella, who called Fukudome a cross between Ichiro Suzuki and Hideki Matsui, said last week he expected to bat the new Cub fourth or fifth in the order. Wow. I didn't think he had enough power to bat 4th. I always thought he was a leadoff or #2 guy. Just like OBP isnt the ONLY important thing out of a leadoff hitter, power isnt the ONLY important thing out of a middle of the order hitter. Also, while he doesn't have HR power, he definitely has great doubles power and will probably lead the team or be very close to the lead in 2bs. But it sure would be nice to have his OBP at the top of the order instead of a 330.
  22. I figured I wouldn't get here in time to say that. But 1 minute, that's damn impressive.
  23. Coletti would have to be stupid to make that trade. ...
