    Once again you're talking about Gavin Floyd as something more than a negative. They're going to have a terrible defense with a mediocre offense, and a 2 man starting rotation. They are a bad team.

    Unfortunately if you are Jim Hendry, yes that is a fact. What was the burnitz quote? Like that he was one of the best RBI guys in baseball who strikes out over 100 times or something like that. It was more bizarre. Something along the lines of he had the 4th most RBIs out of guys who struck out 130 times or more.

    I think Delgado's about ready to go careening off of a cliff. I certainly wouldn't put him as a lock to hit 500 HRs.

    We've got a few tradable parts that don't need to be placed on the 40 man. Ceda, Veal, and Burke come to mind.

    How bout instead of citing their record from 7 years ago, you tell me why they're going to be good this year. When Jerry Owens wins the CF job in spring training, it's gonna be great. At least they'll have their prototypical leadoff hitter.

    If that quote was said by somebody who wasn't a stone age old baseball man, you could overlook it. Instead it's just another fingers in my ears, I'm not listening quote from Hendry when it comes to caring about anything besides how good a track and field star his players are.

    Umm, total ass? SEC isnt much, if any, better. They have the best team of the 2 conferences, but other than that the 2 conferences are alot alike. Tennesee is pretty clearly the best team, but I'd probably take the next 5 from the Big 10 before taking an SEC team.

    I take for granted living 20 and 45 minutes away from NL and AL teams. From memory, I've seen all but the Giants, D-Backs, and Nats(though I saw them as the Expos) in the NL and the Angels, As, and Oroiles in the AL.

    I think Marcus Jordan would walk on at Illinois before playing on scholarship at DePaul. Verdell Jones I think will wind up in Minnesota. Nothing official yet.

    Eh, I don't think Hendry will like his lack of flexibility when it comes to moving around the field. He can play 1st base and the corner outfield positions, I doubt anything beyond that. It'd be nice to have another bat, but he'd basically be a second Daryle Ward. Mike Sweeney would be worse than Ward in the corner OF.

    Is it not until next year that everyone makes the tourney. If it starts this year, then yes, I'd say the expectations are too low. I don't know how to fix DePaul. It's sad. They may have been better off playing 2nd banana in C-USA rather than go to the Big East, though I understand their reasoning.

    Donaldson can't be traded til a year after he signed. And trading one of our few good prospects for more things we don't have a pressing need for is not a great idea IMO.
