  1. yea, he has a .759 OPS vs righties this year(.472 vs LHP). Definately a guy you want to stay away from. I also wouldn't go after burnett if i were hendry, simply because you already got Harden. Why add what is basically another Jason Marquis(burnett: 4.84 ERA, 1.448 WHIP, Marquis: 4.44 ERA, 1.430 WHIP)? I would think Rios and Ryan would cost a lot to get, but those are the only two i can think of who the cubs would be interested in. It would be great to go after Rios. Not sure how much the Jays would want, but I suppose Pie, Marshall, and Cedeno might get their interest. Jim Edmonds is OPSing like 2800 with the Cubs.
  2. Why does nobody realize that Jim Edmonds is like our best hitter at the moment?
  3. So if we can't hit mediocrepitchers, and that's why we're going to struggle in the playoffs cause just wait til they face real pitchers, I mean am I going crazy or are we 17 games over 500? Where did all those wins come from if we can't beat mediocre or playoff caliber pitchers? Have we just faced Phil Dumatrait 55 times this season? And does Roy Halladay suck. It's been a crappy start to the 2nd half. It was a crappy start to the 2nd half. Yeah, we've been ~500 over the past 5 weeks. We were also playing the toughest stretch of our schedule, and doing it without Soriano.
  4. I don't know where to go with this, point out that all 6 Cubs/Cards games have been in St. Louis or point out that the FACT that the Cardinals have a losing record against the Giants, therefore, Giants best team in baseball.
  5. I like it. It's perfect. Pinstripes at home and no ugly grey road jerseys. The grays are my favorite.
  6. I suggested that a while back, before we got Harden, trade for Burnett and Eck, and people thought that it was the craziest thing theyd ever heard. Who? Who thought this?
  7. None of that could be more meaningless. Stick to golf dummy.
  8. Dammit beaten.
  9. This was discussed a bit last year, I don't think any consensus was reached, but I preferred his arm in LF, because I believe he gets more chances out there as more balls go to LF than RF. RF is only preferred because of the throw to 3rd, and I think the fact that there's more chances in LF negates that.
  10. Denorfia was traded for while on the 60 day DL last year, though I don't really know what the A's roster looked like at that point.
  11. I like that the only things I'm known for is outright hatred for stuff.
  12. Nice post, but I have to ask. Who are you, and what did you do with UMFan83? Haha, seriously. Hey come on guys I'm trying here. Glad you noticed haha. Seriously, wow. I think you just got tired of the optimists complaining. Whoever those douchebags were.
  13. Z picked off Milton Bradley. Final score was 4-3. It was the greatest all star game I've ever seen(I'm 24)
  14. They sold 3 million tickets in '06, there certainly weren't 3 million fans through those turnstiles. Those September games were ghost towns. If they didn't spend the GDP of Bulgaria that offseason, '07 would not have drawn flies.
  15. I saw Ryan Dempster come in and take a piss at the Flying Saucer on Main Street, but I was there first. So he met you and then followed you into the restroom?
  16. What unusual thing went the Red Sox way last year?
  17. Mystique has a lot to do with it. Some things just go your way. Are you telling me that the Cards were better than the Mets or the Tigers in 06? Heck No!! How many errors did the pitchers for the Tigers make that led to wins for the Cards? Its just weird.....I'm telling you!! The Cardinals lose their mystique from '83-'05?
  18. Kevin Hart fills the important 4th string long reliever role.
  19. Agreed to an extent, but having metra as the only public transportation out there would create some problems. They would sell a lot more tickets in the burbs than they would at 35th/Shields They'd have a harder time selling to the corporate types in Tinley Park than they do at 35th and Shields.
  20. You guys should really have picked up Liriano already by now.
  21. Agreed to an extent, but having metra as the only public transportation out there would create some problems.
  22. He's not going to win. It would set a horrible precedent for any top prospect who feels he deserves his shot. You can't force teams to call up prospects. If that prospect starts out poorly and needs to be sent down after being forced to be called up could the team file a grievance to gain some wins back? Of course Liriano deserves to be in the majors, but if the Twins want to hurt themselves(both in the now, and in the goodwill with Liriano for the future sense), then that's their perogative.
