  2. How many different times have the Cubs been 20 games over .500 this season? They've never been able to get to 21 over. I believe we're 0-5 when going for 21 games over.
  3. 38-37 in their last 75(doesn't even sound arbitrary this time!!) and facing a brutal schedule the rest of the way(as brutal as an NL schedule can be.) Cardinals are toast. But by all means, I'll be cheering my ass for them the rest of the way. They're the 6th or 7th best team in the NL, and I'd love to get to face them in the playoffs rather than one of the better teams.
  4. Jason Bay's a pretty good defensive OF. He'd certainly be fine in RF, and could probably take CF in an emergency.
  5. That's not even an improvement on what we have right now.
  6. Would it make that big of a difference for them? Swisher's numbers aren't really all that outstanding this year either. They wouldn't be replacing Konerko with Swisher (hes already in the lineup on a daily basis), they'd be replacing Konerko with a Wise/Anderson platoon. How sweet it would be to end that Godawful "PAULY" chant. Almost as sweet as DeWayne Wise getting 2/3 of the starts in a major league game.
  7. Trade Cedeno and Eyre... and pick up Everett. Everett's injuries have limited his defense. Adam Everett without the defense is worthless.
  8. They're just covering for the fact that he needs his head amuptated.
  9. Did he say hit all pitches the other way or did he say to take the outside pitches the other way? I really doubt he told them not to drive the ball. Why? It's what Harris is doing in Washington? Some guys think the only way to hit is exactly the way they did. When you're a crappy hitter like Lenny Harris or Mickey Hatcher you survived by dumping the ball to opposite field. Just because they're big leauge instructors doesn't mean they can't be morons.
  10. To hear Angels fans gripe, Mickey Hatcher sounds like Lenny Harris as a hitting coach, obsessed with getting guys to take pitches the other way, rather than to drive the ball. Change may do Kotchman well.
  11. Sports talk radio everywhere is full of idiots. It's not just Milwaukee. And I wouldn't worry about the Cardinals B&G. I'd put money that 3 out of 4 of the Mets, Phillies, Cubs, and Brewers are making the playoffs.
  12. In all likelihood they sorted it out long ago and just don't care to share every detail of their decisions with the likes of you & me. They sorted it out and their plan was to continue carrying Eyre all year while not pitching him?
  13. Dude, those guys work for the Cubs. Sheehan doesn't. Z is not a 18 year old pitcher, he's a horse. Don't worry, Lou will take him out but this pitch count crap is getting ridiculous. It's not like he has thrown 160 pitches. Who cares about 160 pitches, this pitch count crap is absurd.
  14. Ben Sheets gave away the game by giving up hits and walks.
  15. DUDE It's a blister. I got one one time tapping a keg. 3 days later I rocked the beer pong tournament.
  16. There's a shortage of quality shortstops across the league, it's a position most teams where many teams would like to upgrade. There will be high demand for Cedeno in the offseason, as he may be amongst the best availble SSs this winter. Like him or not (personally, I don't know how anyone could perceive his value to be near that of a water cooler), he's a pretty good trading chip right now. I wasted some of everybody's time having this argument in the game thread. Cedeno's about as good as you can expect from a backup SS. Guys better than Cedeno aren't backup SS.
  17. Where were all the blister experts when Josh Beckett couldn't get rid of them? Seems like teams wasted a lot of time letting their pitchers sit on the DL when all they needed was to invest 10 bucks to get rid of them.
  18. Really, you wouldn't be surprised if they rubbed his finger against a rough surface or burnt it so that they could create the grand illusion that Kerry Wood is in fact still alive?
  19. Yeah who could forget Corey Patterson's legendary feuds with umps, teammates, and broadcasters.
  20. He has a history of arm problems, therefore he has cancer.
  21. Cubs: 6 runs scored, 10 LOB: 6/16 = 37.5% efficiency Brewers: 4 runs scored, 5 LOB: 4/9 = 44.4% efficiency 37.5% < 44.4%. Thus, the Cubs blew more chances than the Brewers, but still won. Make sense now? This is all I am trying to say. You show up here with a backhanded compliment with the caveat that you think the Brewers beat themselves, because they somehow failed to convert 100% of their chances, as if that is somehow abnormal. I respond by stating the Cubs really should've done more with the chances they had. Thus, the game shouldn't have been that close. Thankfully, they pulled it out anyway, but deserved the win. It's not that hard, really. Brewers... 1. Missed a run by calling Hart out at 3rd. 2. Weeks gives away 2 runs on a easy double play ball. 3. Torres walks 3 guys in the 9th. 4. We have Ned Yost as our manager and thats not fair. 5. Hall if he was in position would of gotten Cedeno out at 3rd. 6. Infield single by Fukudome that Weeks should of handled. 7. DeRosa infield single that Hall should of made a play on. Yes, I belive the Brewers lost this game. We dont always have to agree. I dont agree with you. Get It? You seem to have a problem with the lack of agreement. And I re-watched the Hart double, I'm pretty sure Ramirez blocked the bag and got the tag down. Certainily not as much of a certainty as you k eep claiming it was.
  22. I'd imagine they have them outside of Wrigley at whatever the place is with all the sherseys. I seem to remember seeing them at one of the outdoor vendors as well.
