  1. Brewers picked up Todd Coffey from the Reds. I don't care enough to make a transaction thread.
  2. Call up Dusty, order the bunt!
  3. They're gonna trade for Brett Myers and sign Rafael Furcal?
  4. The approach is getting Dustier. CHALLENGE KEPPINGER'S HIT!!
  5. 44 pitches through 3 for Sabathia.
  6. Same thing I screamed about with DeRosa, if you're so damn intent on giving up an out and taking the bat out of a good hitter's hands, then go all the way and take the bat out of the hitter's hands. Literally give the bat to somebody on the bench who can lay down an effective bunt.
  7. Cause our remaining schedule is getting harder.
  8. Unless you weren't under the illusion that the team was somehow incapable of a bad 10 game stretch of baseball. I'm not sure that can be said about any baseball team, ever. The 2001 Mariners. I don't think they knew what a slump felt like. That doesn't mean they weren't capable of it. Capable or not they proved incapable of a bad 10 game stretch for that year. Unless you consider 4-6 a bad stretch of baseball. Isn't a 2-5 stretch a bad stretch of baseball? Why's it have to be 10? And I understand you're refuting about no team being capable of going without a bad stretch, but what's the point of this? That we're not a 116 win talent team? Nobody's ever suggested this. It's pretty much simple math that a 116 win team isn't going to have bad stretches, otherwise they'd be too incredible for words the rest of the year.
  9. Unless you weren't under the illusion that the team was somehow incapable of a bad 10 game stretch of baseball. I'm not sure that can be said about any baseball team, ever. The 2001 Mariners. I don't think they knew what a slump felt like. They did have a 2-5(4-7) slump in them.
  10. I assume that these playoff odds only take into account the season statistics as a whole and not how the team has played lately. I further assume that they cannot and have not taken into account the human factors ("choking"). The actual likelihood of us missing the playoffs altogether has to be much higher than 1%. Give me a # Jeff.
  11. i would have flipped if he was made to bunt. like i did when Derosa bunted. or like i did last night when soto bunted. Really? And you people call yourselves NL Baseball fans. Bunting Soriano to set it up for Theriot and Lee or bunting DeRosa for Whatever dreck they had after him are just horrible ideas. Taking the bat out of your best hitters so that worse hitters have a chance to drive in the runs is awful. It increases the chances of the "worse hitter" 10 fold, though. It makes the other team bring the infield in, and a medium to medium-deep fly wins the game. However, the chances of Alfonso making an out are 70%, despite him being a good hitter or not. I'll take my chances with the bunt. It's not a matter of the chances of Soriano making an out and that's it. It's the chances of none of Soriano, Theriot, or Lee getting on. Odds are Theriot draws the IBB there and then you have Derrek Lee up with the infield at DP distance.
  12. No, Lou has his legit hitters bunt in order to get the guy in scoring position for the horrendous callup.(guess who)
  13. he's going to tell his players to roll up their sleeves and start kicking some arse. "when i tell you to waste an out, by god you do it in the arse-kickin-est way you know how and stop waiting to lose!" Lou sent him up there to record an out and Geo recorded 2. Even when he fails Geo succeeds. I don't see what Lou was so angry about.
  14. aw WTF. Lou won't play him if he gets healthy anyway if he hurt himself like that.
  15. I'm rooting for OSU in a lesser of two evils type of thing.

  17. All of this would be very true (imo) if the Cubs were showing any signs of life. Every day is getting uglier, however. Like when Geo struck out ~28 times in a row against Washington. Or LA lost 8 in a row like a week ago. Streaks in baseball only tell you what happened, not what's going to happen.
  18. The Cubs have gone 1-6 in September and lost 0 games in the standings.
  19. You should email him. I did, only I wasn't so rude about it.
  20. Yes, horribly irrational. The Astros are 9 games back in the loss column.
  21. Yost is getting smarter.
  22. Pujols's one and only sac bunt in his career was against the White Sox in '01. He was facing Ken Vining and had assorted dreck batting behind him and the Cards were up 3 late, so it was also a terrible call. Kaplan(if he isn't full of Howry) likely applauded it because he wanted a solid vet like Bobby Bonilla up there rather than this do-nothing rookie Albert anyway.
