  1. They can't possibly lose six pennant-clinching games in a row. Good thing 1984 and 2003's inferior teams don't effect this year's standings.
  2. So you're saying if we lose 5 out of our next 6 we'll still be more likely than not to make the playoffs(and your #s are wayyyyy too low on that. We'd be at worst 4 games up on a playoff spot with ~20 to go.) I mean, do people really think that this team all of a sudden is terrible? Remember 4 games ago? Not terrible, but couldn't we have a thirty game run, against tough competition, where we go 10-20? I guess I just want the Division and not the Wild Card. Every other team in the NL is more likely to go on a 10-20 run than we are right now. You're basically fretting over Chaos Theory.
  3. I'm usually more of a Lou defender than a critic, but letting him keep pitching after walking the bases loaded, that was the no-brainer time to take him out. Walks the guy trying to give him an out with a sac bunt and throws a meatball down the middle to a horrible hitter like Quintero. If Wuertz pitched that inning, Lou woulda sent him back to Iowa for the playoff push.

  5. That's going to be a very tough game for WVU. I bet they blow them out.
  6. Mildly disappointed this didn't turn into a National Lampoon's quote thread.
  7. Forget it David. It's Chinatown.
  8. There are no ties in baseball. I wholeheartedly endorse this team playing to not lose the rest of the season.
  9. Jamal Lewis cause his last name doesn't look like Casey McGehee's.
  10. Not a big difference, but it proves your point. Bunting lessons the chances of scoring a run. The difference in those numbers can be explained by randomness. It could very well by 1% the other way if the ball had took a few different bounces throughout the years. Ahh but what those #s don't account for is taking the bat out of the hands of a good major leaguer like Mark DeRosa and putting it into the hands of a worthless sack of crap like Casey McGehee.
  11. Yeah UCLA, even though you aren't very good, imagine if you were playing one of the top 10 teams in the country!!! Then you might not have won, actin all high and mighty now that you're one of the 50 best teams in the country.
  12. I kinda took this to mean he's gonna start hammering square peg Hoff into round hole RF.
  13. On July 1, the Mets were 3.5 back and a game under .500. Since then, Delgado has hit just over .300 with 17 home runs and 50 rbi. Over that time, Wright has 12 home runs and 39 rbi although his ba has been slightly better. Beltran's numbers have been similar to Wright's over this stretch. There is no doubting that there are more talented players on the Mets than Delgado, but he has been very important in their climb to the top of the division. The best player need not be the most valuable. Why should Delgado's pre-7/1 #s not come into play? His playing like crap the first couple months of the season is a big reason the Mets were in a hole to begin with. Wright, Reyes, and Beltran all play better defense at more premium positions, while putting up better #s on the year.
  14. NOT IF I CAN HELP IT!
  15. Long enough to be a minor league free agent after this year - McGehee still belongs to the Cubs for next season. Also (although I doubt it made any difference) Craig pulled an oblique on the 31st so is on the DL anyway. I thought I'd heard that, but didn't see his name on the DL from the Iowa website. McGehee belonging to the Cubs next season is another reason to have rostered a healthy Craig instead of McGehee. There's no need to roster McGehee unless you think he's gone in rule 5. You don't roster Craig and he's gone to somewhere that will get him his first major league PA before the age of 35 rather than keeping him Cubs property through that age. I realize losing Matt Craig isn't that big of a deal and isn't anything to really freak out about, but the McGehee thing is just damn puzzling.
  16. Delgado's like the 5th best player on the Mets.
  17. That's not the SEC's fault. Put that on NCAA, and don't blame the SEC for owning the Pac 10. Did I blame the SEC? I do think it's kinda foolish for SEC fans to be thumping their chests about their conference based on bowl records when they're just home games.
  18. Bowls all(with a few exceptions) take place in SEC territory. There's certainly no advantage for the SEC there.
  19. Congrats Raisin. You're boys earned it. Now excuse me while I shoot myself. don't be selfish. do it outside so the cleanup isn't as bad for those you leave behind Then he'd have to see naked Raisin.
  20. Makes ya wonder how the SEC would do if all bowls weren't in the southeast.
  21. Mike Patrick is SOOOO TERRIBLE.
  22. I guess I'll live with it.
  23. Worst case scenario is Tennessee actually winning the game but by less than 8. Which is probably the most likely scenario. If you're not gonna win in triple+ by 8, then at least lose in embarrassing fashion.
  24. ...I dunno man but we've got a great game going on here. Thanks, I'm not sure anybody else got that. Just to be sure, would it be annoying or mildly amusing if I did that in every game that Mike Patrick calls during the tensest moment of the game?
