  1. Think of how fun it will be to go to the world series by beating a wifebeater.
  2. Oh no....BTW, you need a space between weak and the first parenthesis. My point was in the same thread you're patting yourself on the back for your predictions, you called the best division in the NL "weak."
  3. If you remember what it was like before you won a World Series I am sure you know what most of us are feeling. At least when you lost it didn't turn into a total cesspool like the majority of most White Sox message boards. If I read one more time that we lost today because Javy Vazquez has no balls, the kitten dies. you lost today because javy vazquez has no balls Quoted, because I hate cats. And I didn't bother reading through the whole thing, but I'm sure there were a lot of similar things beind said in the game thread here.
  4. You also called the NL Central a weak(well week) division.
  5. I don't see how the Cubs have three favorable pitching matchups in Games 3-4-5. Game 3, certainly, but that's a no brainer. Game 4 the Cubs would if the Dodgers throw Maddux but Lilly-Lowe isn't in our favor. Same goes for Billingsley-Dempster/Z in Game 5. It could be (we'll see how Billingsley does tonight) but right now it doesn't look like a matchup in the Cubs' favor. Lilly-Lowe on short rest is in our favor.
  6. So if they win tonight, they must've been loose. Not every team that loses a playoff game is playing too tight. Not necessarily, but I think that playing tight has contributed to the overall suckiness in the Cubs playoff appearances the last couple years. What would convince you that they are sufficiently loose? They grew out beards. That's kinda kooky.
  7. I have nothing :(

  9. Where has the main talk been about the crowd, though? It's been mentioned because, false perception or real, it seemed odd to a lot of people. But the talks of what happened in game 1 (and what might happen next) still dominate. Its the main theme on Chicago sports radio today, believe me. I read Bruce's articles and avoided everything else today. No way would I ever considering listening to Chicago sports radio right now. Yea I have an hour long drive home from work at 7am in the morning so I usually listen to WSCR. Hell last nights postgame with David Kaplan was ridiculous. He was hammering the fans, and the same thing this morning. That schmuck TJ Simers from LA can go to hell. He was such a pompous ass this morning on WSCR. So do I. Keep your sanity and read a book. Keep your blood and don't.
  10. It's a little bit like NFL Network bringing whichever Gumbel it was in the first season of their football games. He was terrible and really had no business being back in the booth. The difference, though, is that Gumbel was at least a football announcer for a few years. I'm not sure Stockton ever did a baseball game before last season. he used to broadcast red sox games, i believe it was back in the '70's though. He called Fisk's famous homerun. I didn't notice cause he called it a strike out.
  11. DeWayne Wise??? Seriously. This guy sucks.
  12. Before this year (it's not over yet) when did Cubs players give WS predictions? Z in 2007 comes to mind. He also didn't "choke hard" in the playoffs in '07, nevermind that apparently every mediot out there forgot about that. He's the one guy who showed up last year. Angry Geo face.

  14. Come on, I asked pretty much the same Caridad question, and he answered yours instead? BS
  15. Has anyone ever won a Division Series after losing the first 2 at home? I think the Yankees did in 2001 against Oakland. Correct. The 1995 Mariners did the same to the Yankees too. And there was the tremendous Tim Belcher rant in the hallway after he blew game 2.
  16. In complete agreeance once again. As for Gm. 3, I'll bump it up further and say that there's a better chance of hell freezing over than the Cubs coming back down 2-0. If we win game 3 and make it 2-1, I bet we'd win the series.
  17. I'm the opposite. I feel really good about tonight and was nervous as hell yesterday.
  18. To his credit though, Soriano has put up a line of .218 .271 .309 (.580 OPS) in 165 postseason ABs lifetime. You're giving him too much credit if you think actual statistics went into his analysis. Soriano's streaky, that's it. Remember when everyone wanted him traded for the corpse of Barry Zito after the first month of the season?
  19. lolololololololololololololol As funny as it may be, its probably not all that out there, he's already shown a tendency to swing at sliders low and outside. Unless someone makes a mistake there's a real good chance he's not going to touch the ball. It's funny because every post wrigley here has been a Soriano Sox post. It's also funny because Soriano didn't go 0 fet the series last year. It's also funny because we've played 1 game of the series.
  20. It's a shame the Diamondbacks won the world series in 2001(not really), otherwise Soriano would be a world series hero who thrived in the clutch. But since Mariano River blew a save to Tony Womack, Soriano can't hit in the clutch when it matters.
  21. he's not much of a football announcer either, and he's been doing that for the better part of 3 centuries The guy's like 124 give him a break.
  22. He's not a veteran baseball announcer. He was for some bizarre reason forced in there last year after probably not watching a baseball game in 30 years.
  23. Every 'analyst' that also happens to be a former pitcher has said the same thing. Soriano is not a threat against a good pitcher. They throw him breaking pitches until he stops swinging - and everyone knows he isn't going to stop swinging. Except that he has laid off quite a bit post-injury this year. Every armchair analyst says stupid [expletive] like just throw him breaking balls in the dirt and he'll strike out every time. These people are morons.
  24. You think Lilly beats Lowe in game 4? Doubt it. The way I see it: Harden probably beats Kuroda, and Lowe probably beats Lilly. That means we need to beat Billingsley twice. I think so, because by the time the Cubs face Lowe for a 2nd time, the Dodgers will be on the verge of elimination, and the season will be on his shoulders. So yes, I do think Lilly (and Dodger stadium is a perfect park for him) will beat Lowe when we get to that point. And pitchers on short rest generally suck.
