  1. Yeah the mitochrondiral myopathy was reported awhile ago, some 3rd rate news source just happened to realize that this was covered under the MDA telethon and thought they had some breaking news. Pretty embarrasing for them if anybody cared about this stuff anymore.
  2. I'd gladly take 1 to 5 on PSU finishing undefeated. I'd love to parlay it with OSU 2 to 19 over Minnesota and ECU 1 to 4 over Houston. While I'm at it, separately, Georgia should beat the crap out of Bama.
  3. Hahahhahahhahahahhahahahhaha USC
  4. I remember Mark DeRosa diving headfirst in to first base on multiple times. Is the Penn graduate an idiot? it's stupid to dive headfirst.>
  5. The only way the Cubs play Monday is if the Brewers and Mets lose out which ain't happening. Well that or the roof being blown off of Miller followed by a rain out.
  6. I can't believe Banks is 77. While the child will have older parents than is usual, she'll also have access to more opportunities than she would with a usual adoptive parent. That definitely affects things.
  7. Launchpad for the last game of the year?
  8. Cubs lost 3-2 in 18 innings to the Expos. Luis Salazar got thrown out at some point in extras trying to stretch a single into a double. Retrosheet calls me a liar. It was 17 innings and no Cub was thrown out trying to stretch a double. Musta been combining a couple games together.
  9. Harrelson wouldn't shut up all game about what a good umpire the guy at home plate was. He thought he was one of the best in the business until he effed up a call that went against the Sox. Ken Harrelson is a pox on the game of baseball.
  10. Now the worst GM in baseball history is complaining about a fair/foul call, believing that he has a better view from the booth than the ump that was standing 10 feet away from it. I really really hope the White Sox lose the division on that makeup game, so I can listen to this petulant whiner get silent while Detroit celebrates knocking out this unlikable bunch of trash.
  11. I megaloathe Ken Harrelson. Him and the puppet in the booth were him are pissing and moaning because Kansas City shut down Greinke.
  12. Collapse aside, Mets lineup is quite a bit scarier. Plus Santana is better than any of their starters. It's a bit of a tossup for me. Assuming the Cubs hold on, it'd be pretty tough for Santana to start more than 1 game in the NLDS. 2 games out of BIG GAME OLLIE has me drooling.
  13. Our B Team taking 3 out of 4 from the Mets? That would be indescribably awesome.
  14. Dempster is not rightfully the right choice for game 1. It should be the best pitcher on the team. No, it makes sense to have Dempster as game one, as several people have pointed out that Dempster can give you 7 innings and at least 2-3 ER's, since Harden could only go for 5 or 6 innings and Zambrano, well, depending on which Zambrano shows up. But as Dempster going 7 innings, and only having to use Marmol and Wood for the 8th and 9th, and the pen will still be fresh for game 2, plus the off day as well where the pen will be back in full strength in game 4, if needed. As I've pointed out, Dempster has average ~6 1/3 innings per start this season, and Harden has average ~6 innings per start. I wasn't talking about Zambrano, he should be slotted 3rd.
  15. Dempster is not rightfully the right choice for game 1. It should be the best pitcher on the team. SNLVAR: Harden: 6.7 (CHI and OAK) Dempster: 6.5 Zambrano: 5.0 Lilly 4.5 And correct me if I'm wrong, but those are cumulative stats. If you're judging who's had a better season, then yeah, maybe it's Dempster, but judging on who's the best pitcher for one game, it's Harden, and not particularly close.(I know you're supporting my argument, just kinda tilting at windmills here)
  16. He's been pretty wild. I'm a Gooz fanboy, and I don't think I'd take him at this point. I'd take him over Howry, but I'd take a few guys over Howry.
  17. Dempster is not rightfully the right choice for game 1. It should be the best pitcher on the team.
  18. He's not close to becoming a free agent. Top of my head, I'd say 3 years away.
  19. Elite pitcher equals what exactly? I love that you have to be 1995 Greg Maddux to be an elite pitcher. I also love that every bad game Zambrano has is because he's a headcase or he's injured. People have this image that old timey sportswriters have ingrained in their head that everything's mental and since Z shows emotion, that means he's a headcase who lets every ball called on him get in his head until he gives up a bunch of runs. It's never that Z misses his spot. It's never that the batter just got the better of him. It's that crazy forienger who can't handle any pressure. He's a meltdown waiting to happen I tellz ya! Like yesterday walks the bases loaded, gives up the grand slam, and then the floodgates came down. He lost his mind out there after giving up the grand slam and had to be straight-jacketed and cattle prodded to get him off the field. So you don't think Z's mental state has hurt him at times and that he's never struggled due to health reasons? Of course he's struggled at times due to tired arm/minor pains as has most every pitcher. My issue with the injury complaints is that once he has a bad game, people think he's hurt for good. I'm sure at times he's overthought on the mound as well, but again he's no different than others.
  20. Becuase players go through inconsistent periods. Don't you think it's lunacy when the usual band of hacks come around when Ramirez went through his slumps this year? Wouldn't somebody who's a headcase melt down in game 1 of the playoffs last year? Wouldn't a headcase break out in seizures in the 9th inning of a no-hit bid? Wouldn't a head case have an excessive amount of unearned runs allowed? Z is emotional and gets upset on the mound. I've posited that he's most likely a jagoff. None of this means it affects his pitching. I believe we went through this before a year or 2 ago, where the #s showed Z didn't have any more meltdown innings than the average pitcher. He's a very good pitcher, and like most very good pitchers he has bad stretches. People are so desperate to find some meaning behind hot streaks and cold streaks that they attribute it to the easiest observed trait of Z's and that's his emotional style.
  21. I mean honestly, people must think Zambrano is the the most talented pitcher of all time if he can't help but have meltdowns every other week and still has #s like an ace. All we need is to get Z some ritalin and he'll never give up a run!
  22. To answer a few of you, no game 5 means you get your money back on your charge card. Love the new title for KPet whoever did that. He earned it.

  24. Why might Harden only go 5 innings? Dempster's averaging ~6 1/3 innings per start. Harden is averaging ~6 innings per start. I'll take the vastly superior pitcher and sacrifice the one extra out.
  25. I got tickets, but there's no way I'm hoping for Game 5. I'll actually be pretty pissed if there is one.
