I could see them going 10 pitchers for the World Series to take an extra batter for the DH position. But then you don't need batters to hit for the pitcher. AL teams tend to carry more pitchers than NL teams during the regular season.

I expect my lineup will be something like this: Pre-game 2 beers 1st inning 1 beer 2nd inning 1 beer 3rd inning 1 beer 1 hot dog 4th inning 1 beer 5th inning 1 beer 1 food item TBD 6th inning 2 beers 7th inning 2 beers hopefully carrying me over to the 8th and 9th. The pre-game is a bit weak. True, but I'll only be getting into Shea about 10-15 minutes before gametime and there is nowhere out there to grab a beer outside. I could brown bag it on the subway, but the wife will complain about that. What about at work?

I dread the Cubs facing Manny Ramirez in any series at any time. I have a feeling in a 5 game series the Dodgers would beat us, or at least have good odds too. Their pitching is extremely underrated. I think their pitching is extremely overrated.

Has it been confirmed that the Astros will be playing in Houston tomorrow night? I'd imagine with the whining backlash that has happened already, Bud is going to make sure those games get played in Houston, but it'd really be best if they were played elsewhere.

Pitchers have nightmare games. It happens. I was way more worried about Z being injured when he was pitching fine earlier in the year but his arm slot was all jacked up. Unless you have a guy that looks off, I'm not worried about 1 nightmare start. Same with a hitter. I'm not gonna worry about a nightmare week from a hitter unless the pictures are matching up with it. This is where scouting absolutely has to come into play. Stats are the observed data, scouting comes along to interpret that data and show if there's a reason for it or it's random noise.

That wasn't Carlos Zambrano though. First, he only threw 110 pitches in the no-hitter. Second, the velocity yesterday on his fastball? It was his 3rd highest all season, and the highest velocity all year when he was on regular rest. It wasn't even close to low. Then the reports I read were exaggerated. But still, the need to dismiss anything bad as absolutely unconcerning confuses me. The need to make things bad off of no/fabricated evidence is more confusing.

3 or 2 depending on how they rule on the unplayed Astros game. So basically it's in the bag. I would be ticked if the Cubs were up 0.5 game on NYM or PHI and they made the Cubs play that extra game for HFA. If they are just 0.5 game up on one of them then they would have a losing record against both teams so a loss would mean they lose HFA. Thankfully, we don't need to worry about it. They could be a half game up on the Mets to end the year and have a 3-3 head to head split against them. I know it's not gonna come down to the 2nd tiebreaker, so I'm not even going to bother looking it up.
