  1. They shouldn't.(and probably wouldn't) I don't think Penn State goes undefeated though. A 1 loss Big XII team wouldn't be a complete crime. A 1 loss SEC team over an undefeated PSU team would be criminal.
  2. Umm holy crap, that's a pretty horrible reversal.
  3. I wouldn't worry about 3 undefeated teams this year. Texas would have to beat 5 more ranked teams with 2 on the road and 1 neutral. Bama has to beat 3 more ranked teams, 1 on the road, 1 neutral. LSU has to beat 4 ranked teams, 1 road, 1 neutral. Missouri has to beat 4 ranked teams, 1 road, 1 neutral. Texas Tech has to beat 5 ranked teams, 2 road, 1 neutral. Oklahoma State needs to beat 5 ranked teams, 3 road, 1 neutral. (By comparison, Penn St. has to beat 2 ranked teams, 1 road.) Obviously only 3 of the above teams can win out. I say it's LSU/Oklahoma after OK knocks off undefeated Mizzou in the Big XII title game.
  4. Both of those teams would have far better resumes and Penn State would deserve to be left out. better resumes in term of strength of conference, not OOC. Penn State's OOC was crap, but Texas' wasn't exactly mind-blowing, and Bama's best was a now unranked Clemson team. It's not Penn State's fault that they're in a weaker conference, but it's certainly not Bama or Texas's fault either. If all 3 teams were undefeated there's no way you take Penn St. All you can do is go off the games the teams played, and Penn St. beating the best of the Big 10 can't compare to beating the best of the SEC and Big XII.
  5. I think A-Rod's a better comparison.
  6. If Tennessee beats Georgia today, Bama's win doesn't look too hot. Not a good day for the SEC today.
  7. Awful Mississippi State beats Vandy.
  8. Hansborough's sounds as dumb as Sean Dockery.
  9. Wow to both Claussen and the UNC front 7.
  10. This Carolina game looked a lot easier a few years ago.
  11. Tim Tebow wants to know why you never call anymore.
  12. There is almost no chance that Edmonds will ask for anything more then 1 yr $1.25 mill type deal if he doesn't retired. The fact the he clear waivers tills you that he wasn't in high demand then, and I doubt he will be this offseason. So if the Cubs want him back money or yrs won't be a prolly. But I don't want him back. The fact that he cleared waivers back in May with an 8M contract tied to him means he won't get more than 1.25M after being a very productive hitter who can fake it in CF after he was waived?
  13. I know everybody stopped watching the Illinois game(with good reason), and it didn't really matter in all likelihood, but I've never seen such a lack of home cooking on a home team clock operator before. There were extra seconds ticked off the clock on damn near every play on Illinois's last 2 drives. The last time it went from 9 to 8 clearly after the whistle was blown. Then 5 seconds later there goes second 7. It was ridiculous. Our front 7 oughta be ashamed of themselves. Hell, everyone but Vontae should be ashamed of themselves on the defensive end. Awful play calling in the red zone. Brutal. Hey, Meph can be a Texas fan for at least one more week!
  14. Obviously assuming sarcasm here, but what do your (or PECOTA's) statistical projections have as his ceiling? Why do you assume sarcasm? I think Fontenot could be an everyday starter at second for us. He's got just as much pop (if not more) than DeRosa, is better at OBP, and is better defensively. Let Fontenot start at second and put DeRo back in his uber-sub roll. Okay, this is twice I've seen Fontenot described as something better than below average at 2B. He is not a good defender. Where is this coming from?
  15. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/irony
  16. I don't see how Choo is a buy low. Over/Under on the Meph/Khalil post? (actually in favor of it, especially now when his value is that of used tobacco spit.)
  17. im certain hes an 800 ops guy who can reach 850 in a good year. Yup. I see no point whatsoever in getting Abreu when Fontenot oculd likely match or surpass the production Abreu would give us next year. Had forgotten I put my pic in that thread 6 months ago still see absolutely no reason why it was posted in this thread. And saying Fontenot is likely to match Abreu's production is laughable. Fontenot is a good player but he isn't a Bobby Abreu (a guy who OPS's .850-900 and steals 20 bases). Fontenot is like Theriot to me (with a bit more power). He could hit .300 but isn't going to get much of anything else. He is the ultimate backup infielder. He's versatile and able to start 50 games a year very effectively but if he has to start 150 he will wear down and not be near as good. I support Theriot because he is the best we have but am well aware there are plenty better shortstops out there. I support Fontenot as well but I'm not blind enough to say he is equal to Bobby Abreu. If you can upgrade then upgrade. Abreu hasn't OPSed 850 since '06. He hasn't OPSed 900 'since '04. Abreu can hit lefties okay, that's about all I'd put emphatically on his side of the ledger against Fontenot.
  18. You're ripping him off if you took it with Holmes. You're not saying you'd rather have Holmes than Coles, are you? I'm saying you'd be ripping him off with a wet sack of dog poop in that 3rd spot.
  19. IBA deadline is tonight http://www.baseballprospectus.com/iba/index.php We're never gonna prove our moral superiority over BPro and BBWAA if you don't fill out a ballot.
  20. And the Obama impression was horrendous. The next funny thing Fred Armisen does will be his first. Me scusi me scusi ... Like I said.
  21. I know UZR isn't out there yet.(1st half #s only) Not sure on +/-
  22. I probably agree that it's a good move, but I don't see Hendry letting Dempster walk unless he gets CC. And Orlando Cabrera sucks. Renteria does too. The only FA SS I'd take over Theriot or Cedeno is Furcal.
  23. Dodgers didn't win the wild card, they just had like the 12th best record in the majors.
