  1. Garrett Anderson isn't serviceable. he sucks.
  2. Heh, just realized I took the higher ranked team in every game. I usually don't do that.

  4. Do other teams kill off the trade value of their players like the Cubs do?
  5. Have you heard of anything regarding Kendall-Macha animosity? I've read elsewhere that Kendall was pretty critical of him(I believe after Macha was let go?)
  6. http://www.nypost.com/seven/10262008/sports/yankees/yanks_decision_looking_bad_135306.htm?page=2 I'd love to know what a bad baseball interview sounds like. Brenly: "Oh I really like the bunt...bunt bunt bunt...You think Fielder can learn to bunt? Oh he'd surprise some people. If we gave the first base coach a hamburger I bet he'd beat the throw...." Melvin: "Thanks for coming in, Bob..." I imagine Craig Counsell starting every game came up somewhere, too. To me it seems like Macha's getting the job because he's willing to virtually keep the entire staff from last year's team. Haudricourt is reporting in Milwaukee that guys like Mike Maddux, Bill Castro, Ed Sedar, and even Dale Sveum will be brought back, possibly as bench coach. The only real input Macha's getting on the staff is third base coach and hitting coach. The entire interview process seemed like a joke. Macha and Randolph were old buddies of Melvin's, and Brenly was just a guy who happened to work an hour or so away. It seems pretty clear that Macha was the guy from the start, and he was almost hired over Ned Yost before Macha went back to Oakland. Macha was actually offered the job but turned it down to take the Oakland job.(an obvious move given each teams' talent level at the time.)
  7. Without having visited them all I can probably guess that West Lafayette is the worst (i've lived in State College and Columbus, went to school in Evanston, and visited Madison, Bloomington and Iowa City) Depends on how you judge Evanston. I've never been to Minnesota or know anyone who has. Other than those 2 possibilities, yeah it's gotta be West Lafayette. my view of Evanston was that the University area was populated by super rich people who hated that the University was there. They passed every law they could to prevent the students from having anything fun to do. Well yeah, that's why it'd be clear 11th if you're not factoring in Chicago(which is a pretty huge factor)

  9. My mom lets me take the laptop upstairs for dinner before I go back down. She used to just send me the food down the laundry chute but she says it's good for me to get some color.
  10. Well that must be where Hendry got the idea that Fuld should be untouchable. I just figured he had leprosy.
  11. Selig said no. The game would have been delayed until they could play again.
  12. 49M committed with how many players on the roster? And how long does Moores see having to have a low payroll? Does Towers want to tie up 2/5 of the payroll into one player in a few years?
  13. If Soriano could just raise his OBP by .005, then he could be a world series leadoff man.
  14. We've been their hated rivals for most of their NL existence.
  15. It doesn't matter what the fans will "accept" If Towers absolutely needs to dump salary, he's going to dump salary. When you have the Braves coming out and saying they're not going to give up anything of value, and the Cards not even giving up things without value, and the Astros not having anything of value, then the Padres may be forced to take whatever they can get. Whether that's the Braves 11th, 12th, and 13th best prospect, some magic beans from Drayton McClane's backyard, or a package from the Cubs is up to the Padres to decide.
  16. Was just about to post this. He's just awful.
  17. Pain.
  18. Bill Hall's bat wasn't good enough at 3B, it'd be a nightmare in LF.
  19. If the Colts weren't gonna win to win me my confidence pool, I would've at least appreciated getting Chris Johnson enough fantasy points to give me a win there. F you game.
  20. As a Cub, 1 start allowing 0 runs. 0 starts knocked out in the 2nd inning or earlier. Guess this doesn't count the game he was immediately thrown out of? That call was a joke, but still came to mind offhand as a game where he didnt make it through the 2nd. Anyhow....I am a big Lilly fan as I love K's. Yeah, he gives up a lot of HRs, but so does Santana. I think we'll get another solid year out of Ted this coming year, that is unless we trade him (which might be a decent option as one of our few vets with positive value). Well if I counted that, then he'd have 2 starts allowing 0 runs as well. It'd be pretty ridiculous to count that game as meaning anything, unless it's his theory that Lilly is a loose cannon ready to be thrown out of a game at any moment.
  21. SLG% is a relevant stat for every player no matter what position they play or where they hit. Depends on what you consider a large enough sample, but Theriot definitely had terrible stretches. Considering your baseless claims about Lilly being inconsistent, I'll assume the claims about Theriot are similar to that, and my perusing BR gamelogs more strictly is worthless to me and you.
  22. What were they supposed to do? Once this game started, it was getting completed. It wasn't that bad when the game started. Stunned, BJ didn't wipe out rounding third.
  23. This is crazy. If this is tied at the end of any inning this is going to at least be severely delayed
  24. jesus christ, what century is this? There's a street on the south side of Chicago where one half of the street is dry and the other half has pretty much nothing but bars and liquor stores.
  25. I like Steve Lavin for both his UCLA program destruction and his familiar voice on Big 10 games. I don't want to have to hate him. Why would you hate him when all he'd do is continue Arizona's destruction? Despite your odd enjoyment of Steve Lavin the announcer, you're getting GUS JOHNSON for some Big 10 games. Talk about win win here. It's kinda how I came to love Chip Caray by the time he left. He's a familiar voice that broadcasted a hell of a lot of memorable games for my team. But yeah, GUS
