  1. If you have to drop a WR drop Jackson for Bryant.
  2. Every FA is gonna be "willing to sign with" the Cubs, Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Phillies, Angels, and Dodgers. They're the teams with the most money and any player in their right mind would get them into the bidding.
  3. A necessary blow out for Ball St.
  4. I'm really sick of seeing this logic(and the usual accompiniment of IT'S BEEN 100 YEARS GO FOR IT ALL NOW) as if there is no limit to the amount of young players you should give up to try for it all in one season. Let's say we give up all of our best tradeable assets for Peavy. Then Soto goes down and we need a stopgap to catch the rest of the way. What are we gonna give up for that rental? James Adduci? Every player in a system has some sort of value attached to them. Every time one is given up there is an opportunity cost at stake as to what else that player could acquire now, what they could acquire later, what they could contribute now, and what they could contribute later. Throwing the kitchen sink at a team because we've got a chance at it all is a good way to guarantee that you have only a few chances to win it all. - Pie is obviously no longer apart of this team's future plans. - Hill is obviously no longer the pitcher he once was and has already been rumored to be used in this potential deal - Marshall would be replaced with Peavy, advantage Cubs - Cedeno is battling it out with Theriot, and in all likelihood will probably be a bench player next year if Theriot is around - Ceda would be a useful piece for the Cubs in the future, but would his loss outweigh the gain of Peavy? - If Theriot goes, Cedeno probably stays and hopefully he doesn't crap it up like the last time he was given the starting job - Vitters, I would like to keep, but when will he be ready? 3 years from now? 4 years? It's still very early to determine whether or not he'll be a bust or a great signing. You're not understanding. Just because those guys mught not fit into the team's plans doesn't mean they don't have value. You only have so many pieces top use for trades and you want to blow them all. The idea is that trading some players now allows us to let Dempster and Wood walk. If they walk, we get 4 top picks and our farm system might not be any worse for the wear... Seems disingenuous to include Wood's 2 comp picks because we get Peavy.
  5. This sounds awful. Giambi seems like a surefire bet to fall off a cliff baseball-wise and health-wise.
  6. I see nothing wrong with keeping baseball in the news in whatever small way these awards do. What exactly is your complaint with it?

  8. Beating Florida was very very impressive, but as you said it's a probabilistic outcome and if bad teams can beat good teams then mediocre teams can beat great teams. Other than the Florida game, what is there to hang their hat on? Losing to a mediocre South Carolina team? Losing to a medicore Wake team? Not blowing out Samford or Memphis? Squeaking by a bad Arkansas team?
  9. Ole Miss lost to a bad Vandy team at home.
  10. The Star-Ledger reports he's going in as a Yankee.
  11. Best part about it is just how some people are completely oblivious. It looks like the lady behind the guy getting jacked is shoving popcorn in her mouth. I like the guy who is apparently using his 1 year old as a shield.
  12. Nobody cares about my fantasy league, but wtf Redskins??? I needed 1 more point from their kicker after those first 5 minutes and they couldn't give it to me. Instead I continue to chase 2 1 loss teams.
  13. Yeah and the Big XII is like the MAC when it comes to challenges. He should actually welcome going to the SEC. At least he'd be on somewhat more level ground with the rest of the major teams. Eh?
  14. Screw you guys Brady Quinn is awesome. He's also sexy as boobs.
  15. Mike Leach and Butch Davis won't go to Tennessee because they're afraid of Sylvester Croom.
  16. or could be kicked off the team.
  17. USC Texas Oklahoma Ohio St. Michigan Penn St. Florida St. Florida LSU Alabama You could make the argument that it's as good or better than the FSU and Penn State jobs. Alabama has more tradition, but I believe UT has better facilities, stadium and recruiting budget. It'd be close between those two. At absolute worst, it's top 15. It's a silly subjective argument, but I could argue them out of the top 15 with Notre Dame, Miami, Oklahoma St.(CASH), VA Tech, and Nebraska Okie St. is having a cash flow prob right now. They made some poor decisions (at T Boone's behest) with the money he gave them. I'd put Tennessee above Va Tech and Okie State, but behind the original list of 10, ND, and Miami. I'd say they're comparable to Neb, maybe a touch higher due to much richer local recruiting. Good point on OK St., I forgot about that. I guess Oregon is a better spot for the money grab. I didn't want to include ND in the original 10 for fear of starting an argument, but yeah. I understand the point about Tennessee being a better/more prestigous job than the other coach's spots, but it's not as simple as a leap in prestige. There's a comfort level and the current team on campus which could lead to an even bigger leap/more cash. They shoulda brought in Cutcliffe as coach in waiting, with him taking over no later than '10.
  18. You know that Frazier is starting though. Hell Trent probably will too. I think Legion starts by BT game 4.
  19. Isn't the whole point of trading Greene to get out from his salary?
  20. Vitters wasn't good enough for that job I suppose. BTW, that's still alive and I'm aiming to get it rolled out over Thanksgiving. Didn't want to look at his ugly mug every time. I'll finish, I promise.

  22. Because it's the Twins, they love defense. Then wouldn't it make more sense to leave young in the OF and DH Cuddyer? So they can add a defensive wonderboy in Greene. They still have Kubel to get ABs for too. Okay, how bout spending 6.5M for anyone who isn't homegrown. Let me have that one!
