  1. I really really like that Wittenmeyer considers Ibanez athletic. I also like that Piniella's comments are pretty much carbon copy of what he was saying leading up to the Harden deal. Wittenmeyer's a sensationalist hack.
  2. I'll take the over. What about under 1.25 WHIP on the two? The last time either of them had a WHIP that low was 2004. You mean a WHIP that high? Oh...yeah. I'm an idiot.
  3. I like that he posted about how everyone's whining that his rumor didn't happen, and in the post looked like the biggest pisser and moaner of all, complete with insults that would make Bill Plaschke proud. Or mabye Desipio endorser Paul Sullivan!!
  4. I'll take the over. What about under 1.25 WHIP on the two? The last time either of them had a WHIP that low was 2004. So, you're taking the over? They're due!!
  5. So one bidder is Ricketts, the other is unknown to media, so is Cuban the other bidder? Dallas said Cuban was out ages ago.
  6. Isn't he also the guy who used to broadcast wrestling matches? And he broadcasts NFL games too (I think including some of the Bears' games this year). XFL.
  7. Blaine Boyer is their cherry on top? Does it not matter that he sucks?
  8. I'll take the over. What about under 1.25 WHIP on the two? The last time either of them had a WHIP that low was 2004.
  9. I think thats Lous way of sending a message to Jim, that message being stop dicking around and get me a lefthanded hitter. The fixation on handedness in this organization makes my eyes bleed.
  10. OP, Jennings/Edwards/Forte Smack: Ryan/Cassell, TO/Colston/Jennings, Lynch/Johnson Pick up AZ as long as Seneca Wallace is SEA's QB. For me: RB and Flex: Earnest Graham, Ryan Grant, Jerricho Cotchery, Donnie Avery, Vincent Jackson, Devery Henderson. For my other league Cotchery, Henderson, Reg. Brown
  11. It's hard for him to baselessly call someone out when there are no games going on.
  12. He usually gets better around tournament time, but he's considered an expert because he averages about 64/65 teams in the tournament every year. That looks impressive, but there's usually only a few slots in question on Selection Sunday. If my full time job was to predict the bracket I'm pretty sure I could average that. If I remember correctly our NSBB committee only missed one team this last year, and most of our individual rankings were very close as well. And we weren't even trying to project what would happen, just what should happen. Lunardi is no doubt Jerry Mathers incarnate, but man I hope Purdue fans complaining about a lack of respect aren't the new Illinois/Indiana this year.
  13. Whoever voted for LaRussa needs to be castrated. This guy!
  14. Meph Challenge Week 3 Alabama 32-7 over Mississippi State Florida 31-10 over South Carolina Texas 56-17 over Kansas USC 42-17 over Stanford Penn State 49-0 over Indiana Utah 22-14 over San Diego State Illinois 38-31 over Ohio St. Oklahoma State 47-28 over Colorado Missouri 38-10 over Iowa State Georgia 21-0 over Auburn Ball State won BYU 34-17 over USAFA Maryland 27-21 over UNC LSU 30-21 over Troy BC 20-17 over FSU(I hate FSU) Cincy 28-13 over Louisville Cal 31-28 over Oregon St. Tulsa 47-20 over Houston
  15. NSBB says: Lincecum: 43(8) Santana: 23(1) Webb: 8 CC: 3 Hamels: 2 Dempster: 2
  16. What was Lou supposed to do in the playoffs(besides start his best starter 1st instead of 3rd)? Say, "HIT BETTER!! FIELD BETTER!! PITCH BETTER!!"
  17. Bertrand signs. Illinois basketball will be back.
  18. NSBB results Lou: 33(6) Fredi: 11 LaRussa: 7(1) Torre: 6 Charlie Manuel: 6 Cecil Cooper: 5(1) Maddon: 35(7) Gardenhire: 14(1) Scioscia: 10 Francona: 6 Guillen: 2 Wedge: 1 Bukie did not ballot Piniella or Maddon.
  19. Just the 2, and Illinois football's pathetic football performance last week is looking to ensure I can't cross a 3rd state off that list.
  20. When we fought the U of I football team they got in their cars and left before things got out of hand. They may have been 1-11 that year, but at least they were intelligent.
  21. First vote the BBWAA and I have disagreed on.
  22. [hijack] Nothing personal towards you, but why is it that practically everytime any sportswriter is mentioned on this board, there's invariably someone who comes in and says that said writer sucks/is garbage/knows nothing/is an idiot? Seriously, I don't think I've seen any sportswriter not catch flak here (save Bruce Miles, who I assume gets a pass from some people because he posts occasionally). I don't read the sportswriters regularly, but damn ... they can't all be anti-Cubs biased, rumor-mongering, sensationalist baseball morons, can they? [/hijack] My 2 cents: It's because their bosses have demanded that they become sensationalist morons who spew completely irrational ideas that have no base in reality or coherent thought. It's unfortunate that they have to pander to the lowest common denominator to sell papers instead of actually being good journalists and writing things that make sense. Yep, everyone calls individual sportswriters sensationalist hacks because they're sensationalist hacks. These guys for the most part suck. Bruce gets some leeway for coming here, but people were fans of his long before he posted here.(And his chats don't make a It makes sense to give Bruce some leeway too because we have a bit of a view into him and can see his beliefs on baseball. Meanwhile, hobbits like Paul Sullivan have their chance to connect directly to his readers and instead he treats them like they're not worthy of his time in his dumbass mailbag. Nowhere else in your life will you find a field where people think they know so much, when in fact they know so little.
  23. Early signing period rankings A relieving quiet day for the Illini. Griffey, DJ, and Paul are sent, and Bertrand's should be on the according to IB.
