  1. Pomeroy predictor is up now at kenpom.com Current models would put Northwestern pretty safely in the tourney.(along with OSU, Purdue, and Illinois)
  2. Nolasco wasn't exactly garbage in the first half last year. 3.70 ERA with an 88/30 K/BB. Willis depends on your definition of highly ranked. He was definitely well regarded at the time of the trade. He wasn't some lottery ticket.
  3. Ricky Nolasco quietly had a really good year last year. Kyle Loshe has put together a pretty nice career for himself. Ohman and Cruz are good relievers. Blevins had a good half-year in his first shot at the bigs.
  4. You guys are really underestimating what Wigginton is going to get on the open market. He certainly isn't coming here to be a super sub.
  5. They've done better than I thought. I woulda had them losing to Cornell. Northeastern too, though I still think that'll be a game. The bad news for IU is that the Big Ten's bottom looks better than expected. I had them beating Iowa in Bloomington, but after Iowa's play thus far, I'm thinking that game's more of a toss up. The other teams I thought they'd have a chance against(UM and NU) are probably the 2 most overachieving teams in the conference.
  6. Piggy and Pap likely aren't touching Cotts's output.
  7. odd seeing you drop a journalist's name without your favorite words to describe him/her I don't think you got it
  8. Will Carroll fits in.
  9. I can't decide A. which part of this was the greatest. I mean I read one sentence and loved it, and then the one right after it managed to out do it. Just epic. B. If this is the best post in the thread, or if deucebaseman still holds the crown.
  10. Plus, when Kerry Wood was throwing his simulated innings last year they were the ones batting against him. I wouldnt want to step into the box against him, no way. Your telling me you would not take a couple swings against Kerry Wood if you had a chance? I don't know if i could stand that close to the plate while he threw a 97 mph fast ball at me. I'd probably dive out of the way. Ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod
  11. What are your thoughts on Jason Kendall destroying his bone stepping on first? Touche....but should he have slid headfirst into the base and gotten there later? I think it's worth the risk. You're wrong, sliding feet first was fastest in the clinical trials.
  12. Ellis to Oklahoma City, Thomas to Robert Morris (IL), McGee to Auburn, Holman to Detroit, Crawford to Xavier, Bassett to UAB.
  13. Daniel Moore's a walk on? He's getting an assload of minutes. Why is he playing so much?
  14. They could've found somebody else, but it's not like they were in on anybody else at the time as they had their full allotment used. They were very likely to be banking that scholarship anyway. Similar to the APR "hits" they're taking this year, they used the initial findings as an excuse to "punish" themselves by taking away the schollie. As I said it was a joke, but one that was pretty useless considering no IU fans around here have exhibited anything close to racism. You just see so much online and in person from fans of a school located in the KKK's home state about how things are "back to the way IU basketball should be", "Glad to see basketball played the way it was meant to be", etc. it gives me a chuckle. Especially when you consider these kids playing basketball the way it was meant to be played play some of the sloppiest basketball the state of Indiana has ever seen. Again, was not meant as a slam on you or the other IU fans here. People keep coming back to the phone calls, just the phone calls. The phone calls aren't the issue. It's the Blago like violation of NCAA rules while he knew he was being watched. As has been stated, the phone calls themselves were a minor violation. But its the doing something again after already being scolded for it that you can't stand by and allow. And the institution after finding these issues allowing him to stick around for another 4 months is a big problem for me. I am in complete agreement with you and CCP that the NCAA is a joke. I'm an Illinois fan, you'd be hard pressed to find one worth his salt that thinks otherwise after Deon Thomas. Widespread cheating and fraud is going on at universities and the NCAA does nothing until it's reported by an outside source. The NCAA is a money-making venture, not one put in to ensure the integrity of amateur athletics.
  15. Sure he could've. He also would have remained 4 schollies under the limit. As I said, he'd be a moron to do so as the classes are already unbalanced enough(and at least one guy from this year's team is gonna be forced out to make room for next year's class. i.e. later Tijan, thanks for not bringing Negedu with you) I framed it as Mackey because the scholarship was docked by IU while Sampson was still the coach and shortly after Mackey was caught dealing. How am I supposed to frame it? In saying mediocre white guys it was a half joke/half shot at some racist IU fans who are glad to see basketball "played the way it was meant to be"(with white guys) I just don't see why IU should be given credit for canning Sampson when he the NCAA was gonna force him out once the investigation was through. Especially when IU waited 4 months to do it. I mean is the argument, "look at all the losses we suffered for following the rules? Isn't this enough?"
  16. V is the Roman numeral for 5. I've never heard anyone pronounce it as Rule V. Stop being Kyle.
  17. Regarding those dismissals, how many of them were flat out IU kicking kids out? Crawford chose to transfer. Holman chose to transfer. I believe McGee chose to transfer. Were Ellis, Bassett, and Thomas really great bets to be eligible this year? Giving Indiana credit for this is similar to giving them credit for punishing themselves one scholarship that they weren't going to give out anyway(cause the recruit that had it dealt crack) and withholding Sampson's 500,000 bonus(which benefitted the university, not having to pay 500,000) I read the article when it first came out, so I don't remember, but the biggest crime about the IU situation(not saying it's unique to them) is that they are able to take APR scholarship hits in advance, which is absurd. Those scholarships weren't getting filled unless Crean was a moron, and craved more mediocre white guys. To call that an APR punishment is a mockery.
  18. yeah, he's awesome against guys half as tall as he is, always has been. By the way people have been talking about him I thought he would be a very good player. I looked tonight he's averaging 8 pts, 4 rebounds and only shooting 44%. Not very impressive for a guy that size. He has loads of potential but he's not that good yet. Who's been talking him up? I've been harassing Sulley about him for the most part. He's maybe our 5th or 6th best player.
  19. The real question is if Tebow wins practice squad MVP in 2010.
  20. yeah, he's awesome against guys half as tall as he is, always has been. So he should light up Indiana?
  21. My Dad was telling me over the phone the other day that ticket prices have gone way up. Last year I bought the September Cardinals game from him and it was 30 something dollars. He told me those tickets were $56 now. Must be one of the new Platinum-level games ... nothing like shelling out >$100 to take your sweetheart out to the ol' ballpark. That's pretty much the cost of a 360/PS3 game for roughly 3 hours of live entertainment. Yeah, or you could not demand to get the best seats for the best games.
  22. Syracuse board recommends season long suspension for Devendorf. Wonder what he did.
  23. Tisdale could probably score 50 if they kept going to him.
