From most all reports, Corey is a genuinely nice guy. But feel free to be bitter and trash him for a joke. I do not doubt that he is a nice guy, an so are the most MLB players. I am sure Bob Howery is a nice guy to and gave this team a better stretch of performance than Corey but some seem to like to abuse his name. My criticism is from the people that instantly lift a 17/18 year old kid up onto a pedestal and crown him the next Willie Mays before he even plays a game, many did that on our site as well as Cub's scouting system. He is one of my arguments that there should be a minimum and maximum wage for all drafted players Oh ya, wasn't a joke I was serious I am hoping that he did use his money wisely to get an education so we don't see him on ESPN E60 with a segment entitled "How the mighty have Fallen." I wish him the best in life Nobody did that, it's a stupid accusation. Member 2007, maybe need to float back to the post of 2003 When he was a near-all star level CF?
Not really. http://www.hardballtimes.com/thtstats/main/index.php?view=fielding&linesToDisplay=50&orderBy=zone_rating&direction=DESC&qual_filter=1&season_filter[]=2008&league_filter[]=2&pos_filter[]=7&Submit=Submit Link doesn't work, but you could imagine what it would be like if it did. Adam Dunn is 3rd on that list.
He has the "most effective OF arm" because his arm is the most effective. This isn't sitting around counting OF assists, this is holding guys to one base, and gunning them down when they try for more. And his range isn't any worse than average. He's a very good defensive OF. He'd probably be average in CF.
Ryan Braun has put up one season of MVP type offensive #s. During that season he was so awful at 3B that he wasn't even the best rookie in the league, let alone worthy of MVP discussion. Last year's 3rd place finish was criminal.
Keeping in mind he's a horrendous defender in LF, I don't think it's far fetched to find 10 guys. He didn't crack my MVP ballot last year. He didn't make yours either.
Sounds like double counting. I don't recall Soriano ever having "lazy baserunning" issues unless it was being slow out of the box thinking it's a HR. Those are two different things. Well who cares if he's posing on a HR unless it's because it makes him slow out of the box?
I spent most of my Friday at work doing these types of quizzes. I can't believe how poorly I'm doing at the world countries one. 83 out of 195, though I probably get about 90 if spelling didn't count. Africa and Oceania have a hell of a lot of countries.
The thing about Hendry is even if he ends up grossly over pying, he'll get his guy if needed Ankiel was actually DLd today, or maybe it was yesterday. ok 15 days is still a whole lot better than possibly 8 weeks Yeah, too bad Aramis is on the 8 week DL.
I feel like Gathright was more or less a panic backup move in case they didn't get Bradley. With the theory being that if they couldn't find that upgrade in RF, they'd have Joey/Reed platoon in center and maybe something like Kosuke/DeRosa platoon in RF. I'd rather that they just made a decision on 14 ABs.
