  1. Because a lot of people don't read game threads.
  2. Why not? When Wade was Rose's age, he was averaging 17 points a game in Conference USA. Because you can't just look at what guys did at the same age and say they're likely to improve at the same rate? Dwyane Wade didn't have a decent shot at being as good as Wade is now.
  3. Why didn't they do that on Saturday? Scalabrine woulda just poured in 30. Actually, just checked they weren't that far off. Shot a combined 12-31. Eddie House is the one that killed you guys.

  5. We're not gonna win any games with Allen/Pierce combining to shoot 9/30
  6. Wait, how did Perkins just sub in for Davis, when Davis fouled out like 10 seconds ago?
  7. DAMMIT I'm guessing you guys aren't enjoying those 2nd half FT #s.
  8. Haha, Scalabrine jumps forward on his jump shot.
  9. They kept doing that the whole Bulls series, was driving me nuts. You're not down 10 with a minute left, the 1 second you're saving isn't worth it.
  10. The Magic are BEGGING for the Celtics to get back in. Freaking look for a cutter!!
  11. I've been flipping between this, Cubs, and 24, but from what I've seen, Paul Pierce is killing me.
  12. Pierce has gotta look for that cutter off the screen. Eddie House's catch and shoot is a thing of unrefined beauty.
  13. That was a brutal call on Davis.
  14. Now Derrick Rose has a decent shot at being as good as Wade?
  15. I just don't see the benefit in the current system to playing a team with a pulse. It sucks, but there's just not much to gain there. The benefit comes when you have an idea of what a real team looks like when you hit the bowls. When you're a BCS school, you see 4-6 of those through conference play. OSU begs to differ during the years of back-to-back BCS title game appearances. They played 6 bowl teams in '07 in conference play. I didn't check '06, but I know they beat a good Texas team in their noncon, and blew out everyone but then #2 Michigan and Illinois that year.

  18. Why? Conf. Championship gets you extra practice time for your players and shortens the gap between the regular and bowl seasons. You need to add the team to get the conf. championship Doesnt seem to bother USC year in and year out and the Pac10 did well this year in their bowl games. How's this for expansion. Have ever B10 team play each other instead of just 8. This will get rid of some of those OOC clunkers. Or they could schedule interesting OOC games. Big Ten teams(like other BCS teams) have little incentive to schedule a monster OOC. Take your 1 BCS opponent, 1 middling MAC/C-USA/WAC team, 1 Sun Belt team, and 1 1-AA team. It's the standard BCS schedule.
  19. I think there's a whole lot of recency bias going on here from people claiming the Big Ten can't compete with other conferences. It's cyclical, every conference goes through down and up periods. This is also using tunnel vision by only thinking about football. The conference everyone's thinking about when saying add a school, lower your standards, etc. is the SEC. Look at what garbage that conference was in basketball this year. Does the SEC need to lower their standards(HA!) or add 8 more teams because they've been a poor basketball conference the last 2 seasons? Absolutely not. They need to wait 2 years and see themselves back as a good conference.
  20. You think if OSU goes undefeated in the Big Ten with a noncon win over USC that they wouldn't belong in the title game?
  21. I think his point about having the long layoff before bowl season is valid. I also agree that the Big Ten is not as good as they think they are, and that in general, their clinging to tradition hampers their ability to keep up with the Joneses And that's fine, if that's all they're interested in, they can play a schedules like the PAC 10 going into the first week of December. The conference title game is a cash grab. Missouri's the only team listed in that article that would make the slightest bit of sense. The conference title game is the only "benefit" to adding a team. Adding multiple teams would be crazy, and will never happen.
  22. That article(like most regarding Big Ten expansion) is pretty much garbage. Ooooh, let's add Rutgers, Syracuse, and Iowa St. That way we can have an unwieldly conference with 3 new terrible teams. Yeah telling Notre Dame that Purdue, MSU, and UM won't play them anymore certainly will force them to lose money by joining the Big Ten. Notre Dame does usually have a hard time finding opponents so this makes sense.
  23. The issue was/is they could've have cleared up money for Bradley in other ways. Non-tendering Gaudin/not signing the utterly contemptible Aaron Miles brings to you within ~1.5M. Failing that, the combo of no Kevin Gregg and Aaron Miles would have actually cost less than keeping DeRosa + Wuertz. It was typical focus on what a guy doesn't do by Hendry, and as usual he kept that tunnel vision going all offseason.
  24. They should use (bullpen ERA*2.5) It's shorthand.
